Uh...Was just wondering if anyone here has gotten KH2 to work with swap magic 3.6, or if everyone who's played it has a modded PS2?

I got my copy today, but when I put the bootdisk in the PS2, it comes up with a screen that gives me the options 'load program', 'Video mode' (With a choice between 'normal', PAL and NTSC) and some misc language options.

The instructions I have are a little unclear, so I'm not sure; am I supposed to switch it for the game on this screen and then select 'load program', or am I supposed to select 'load program' first, and then switch the disks? When I hit 'load program' with the bootdisk still in the drive, sometimes it resets to the same menu, and sometimes it goes back to the browser of the PS2. >.< Very confusing.

I've tried it both ways, but I can't seem to get it to work...Am I doing something wrong, or is it just something that takes a little practice? (with the slidecard, I mean.)

Um...Sorry for yet another noobish question...thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to help.

Okay see the thing is that you have to use that slide card that came with it. Here's a page where you can download and see a video of someone using the Slide Card. If you can't find it PM me. www..swapmagic3.com, then go to the how to section.

Yeah, I'm doing that, and I can feel the thing inside moving in what I assume is the correct way, but everytime I hit X or square it just makes vague loading noises at me and then stops after a few seconds. And no matter what disk I put in it tells me it's not a valid PS2 disk.

Edit: I went and downloaded the video, and that's exactly what I'm doing, but it still doesn't work >.<. There was nothing terribly helpful in the Faq section either... I tried the KH2 disk in my computer, and it runs, so it's not the disk...>.< Maybe I should try it with the bootdisk for CDs or something?

i use the swap magic discs on a burned copy of the game so if you imported and have a baught version i know for sure it will work. but anyways let it get to the screen where it says load program and whatever, then swap in the KH2 disc. MAKE SURE YOU SLIDE THE THING BACK INTO ITS PLACE OR IT WILL NOT WORK. so you slide it right to unlock the tray then slide it back left to lock the tray, YOU CANNOT HIT THE OPEN BUTTON CAUSE IT RESETS IT. also i dunno if you have a slimline or not these were instructions for the regular PS2. anyways once you have the KH2 disc in and the tray locked leave it on normal boot or switch to NTSC whichever it doesn't make any difference and hit square to special boot. i personally just switch in KH2 and use special boot on normal and it works perfectly, and like i said im using a burnt disc so if you cant get an original copy working theres something wrong with you game or you PS2. or you not swapping properly. once more through the instructions

1.put in swap magic DVD boot disc
2.use the slide card and slide the lock to the right until the tray pops out a bit
3.pull the tray out and swap in KH2
4.push the tray in and slide the lock back to the left, be gentle now
5.special boot(square button) on Normal or NTSC mode

and that should do it

i was gonna get slidecard, but when i heard it was hard to use, i had my doubts. but i cancelled it just yesterday when i found out that there's a shop near us that can configure my ps2 with a mod chip (i don't care about my warranty cause i've had this ps2 for 3 years). maybe you should find out if there's some shop that can do that, too?
and besides, ordering on the internet SUCKS. make sure the peeps you are dealing with are trustworthy, not evil and money-sucking.

*thats why people should have patience and wait for the US/PAL version*

(And to actually make sense out of it all... People are too overreacting if you ask me... I mean, if you can udnerstand Japanese, fine, great that you import it, but if you cant, youre only playing it for the scenes and battles... Yet you dont have a clue what youre equipping, etc...)

that's not so bad you can read faq's or look for a translator
Oh come on.

Read FAQs? Ok well, if you wanna enjoy a game, but only when you read FAQs because you cant do otherwise, your decision, but a bit weird... not the true game experience someone wants...

And looking for a translator is BS, because A, first you search all those Japanese letters and find yourself a translator, and then you actually have to have the luck that the translator works properly...

So both arguments still dont change my opinion about this. I cant understand people do this. They dont have patience and just buy a game, buy accesoiries with it because else they cant play it (JP import tools) and then eventually they will buy the US version as well! (or PAL)

I mean, hello? You pay 120 bucks total for 2 games that is actually 1 game, while you can just as easily wait 3 months (3 MONTHS!!! And Im waiting for FF12 since 2002, just so you know... And its still not released in Japan yet... think that for a seccy) and get a real game experience, dont be spoiled at all because you perfectly know whats gonna happen, and pay 50 bucks total...

My decision would go to option 2, a 100%.

^read my second post.

Dude, I read it and really, that's your opinion and if people just want to play it earlier than they can. But your just the one who is trying to stop them, then they will get all confused and then they don't know what to do. So just leave them alone, cuz i'm one the people importing it. ^_^

^_^;; Um, I got it to work. The instructions were slightly wrong; they said to shut to drive completely and then put the card in at the left, bring it right and then left again....If I put it in on the right side before I close the drive completely it works fine.

Thanks very much to everyone who tried to help out, especially BHsora.

::looks around at the conversation:: ...Jeeze, why do people bother saying things like 'you should've just waited'? If you think I'm stupid for importing, keep it to yourself or I'm just gonna tell you to shove it anyway :p Nyeh!

I put a lot of thought into my decision to import. I've been wanting to for years but never did it...I finally decided to because I've been trying to learn Japanese for years now, and I think that playing a game in the language will help me-you learn best when there's a practical use for the knowledge, right? ^_^; And since I'm five hours into the game and have already re-memorized most of the kana I forgot, plus learned some new kanji, I'm guessing it will. As for shops, so far they've used mostly easy Japanese. 'Poshion'=potion, 'eatheru'=ether, all in kana...And just look at the stats for accessories/weapons (Unless you want elemental defense, I guess, but I never bother).

It's kinda sad, but the thing I'm having the most trouble with is O being confirm/attack and X being cancel/jump. x_x I got used to it for Xenosaga, though, so I'm sure I'll get over that soon enough.
