I'm still new in this technology (o.o)
My windows hasn't been upgraded into SP 2. when i want to, it asked me to backup my system. my question is, is upgrading my windows to SP 2 means re-formatting the hardware? please help me, someone T_T. if it reall means so, i should find a way to recover my docs... TT__TT
..the only time you need to re-format is if you happen to be reinstalling Windows from scratch, or installing linux. If you are just upgrading/patching your system, then you don't need to format ANYTHING.
Best ways to backup data:
Create a secondary partition on your harddrive, if you know how.
Get a secondary harddrive to back your data upto.
Burn your most important data to DVD discs if possible.
(Or CD-R discs, if you can't burn DVD's.. also, Use DVD-DL if your burner has support for them, as you can hold 8.5GB of data on one disc..)
(You can also do network backups.. but those aren't as easy to do/setup than the afforementioned.)
Your windows directory isn't important enough to back up, so don't worry about that, just get what you need the most backed up.. and backup every chance you get. (Atleast every week for CD/DVD based backups. And every night/every other night for HDD backups. You can automate the process for HDD backups, easier.
That's about it.
