The Field of Battle: Clover Basin-A dried up river basin that was once a watering hole that would usually flood whenever it would rain. As time went on, rain was much less frequent, to the point where it never rained again. The area is now a five foot deep, 50 feet across, and 35 feet wide crater in the middle of a desert. The current time is midday, the sun very high in the sky and few animals scurrying across the surface of the sand.

My Character

Name:
Orso Von Forza
Age/Birthdate: 35 years old/June 9th
Hometown: Bravewood
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Anthropomorphic Grizzly Bear
Height: 7 Feet tall
Weight: 500 lbs
Eye/Hair Color: Brown eyes, brown hair with gray tips
Appearance: Orso stands at seven feet tall and weighs in at 400 pounds. His fur is mainly brown, along with having tips that are tinted an ashy grey color. His right eye has a black eye patch over it, but there is a diagonal scar that happens to still stick out from behind it. He has a muscular build and can easily walk on his own two legs, despite his age. He wears a simple, iron fauld with the flag of his people as the cloth covering. He also wears a pair of iron gauntlets and a pair of iron greaves to accompany his gauntlets. He prefers not to wear anything resembling a shirt, feeling it restricts freedom.
Personality:Orso is generally a kind-hearted man who always loves a good battle. During battle, he can become serious within seconds, but is far from it after a couple drinks. He is also a strong believer in personal freedom and always vows to protect the rights of others. Orso is protective as well, but only protects those he sees as either unable to fend for themselves or those who are at a serious disadvantage, others not really being worthy of being under his protection. Orso is also known for his leadership skills and for selflessly throwing himself into the middle of armed conflict. The one thing he loves most is seeing young warriors grow stronger and stronger, one day hoping to meet a "child" who can surpass his strength.
Skills/Talents: Wrestling: Orso's stocky and muscular body is a huge contributor to his choice of fighting style, the fundamentals of wrestling and hand-to-hand combat. He is one of the champions in the fighting league that his people hold every year, making him one of the strongest in the entire race of his people.
Mind and Body Arts: Orso's people were the first to develop a solely physical art that is also benefited from one's control over their mental health. Others find this to be a very basic and easy-to-master art, but Orso still has pride in his people for developing this kind of art.

Mind and Body Art: Prideful Body- When the user's mind is in a prideful mindset, his body will react by providing a sudden burst of energy that increases not only his speed, but also his alertness and his mobility. The user is covered in an aura of lightning yellow while this move is in use.
Novice- The effects only last until the user is hit.
Intermediate- The effects only last for a maximum of five minutes.
Master- The effects last for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Mind and Body Art: Soul of Stone- The user can activate this defensive power by putting himself into the mindset of anything connecting with the Earth, from a basic boulder to a towering plateau, resulting in increased defense, but unable to move while activated. A dark brown aura appears around the user when it is in use.
Novice- Defense is only slightly increased and user must remain still.
Intermediate- Defense is significantly increased, but weighs down the user to decrease speed.
Master- Defense is highly raised and offers the user full mobility.

Mind and Body Art: Raging Tide- When the user enters a state of desperation or fury, their attack power is increased, their defense slightly increased as well. The user is covered in a red aura while this art is active.
Novice- Attack is raised slightly while defense remains the same. Lasts until the user is either hit or for a course of 10 minutes.
Intermediate- Attack is raised significantly and defense is slightly raised. Lasts for 30 minutes.
Master- Attack is raised to dangerous levels and defense is raised significantly. Lasts until user is either incapacitated or begins to calm down.

Biography: Orso Von Forza was originally born in one of the strongest cities in the world, Roccia, well known for its military strength and their barbaric society. His parents began training him at a very young age, the same with his pair of older brothers, wanting them to become the most powerful fighters in the entire city and eventually all of their people. At this time, Roccia was very peaceful and under the rule of a series of military generals.

However, the generals lusted for power and eventually made it a goal to crush all surrounding cities and villages, making Roccia into an empire rather than a city. To their dismay, Roccia's primitive technology led to its demise, the people enslaved and forced into combat for entertainment. The arena was his new home, the citizens of Roccia now forced to live there under the harsh rule of prison wardens when not engaged in combat, both armed and unarmed. This was where Orso learned and mastered the arts he currently knows and became strong.

The men who organized the matches knew very well who belonged to which family and often had family members fight for survival against one another, brothers being forced to kill brothers, fathers kneeling to the will of their youngest sons, and even mothers being forced to fight daughters or sons, sometimes even lovers being forced to murder the other. Orso was forced into combat with both of his brothers, overcoming both of them with relative ease.

After years of fighting combatant after combatant, Orso and the 300 other survivors were forced into fighting all at once, the arena being slippery with the bodies and gore of the dead. Despite the rough odds, the now 16 year old Orso and 24 other warriors were released from the arena, the job of the stadium being fulfilled. As Orso looked at the defeated faces of the fellow survivors, not one of them looked happy to be alive. Orso began thinking the same, his family's blood now on his hands, along with other clansmen he was forced to slay.

The survivors then rebuilt the city, making it for and by the people, governed by a parliamentary government. The day that was the beginning of their imprisonment was now Roccia's, or now renamed Bravewood, was now their independence day and was dubbed as the beginning of a worldwide fighting tournament without killing. Bravewood would later become a place of peace and yet have some of the strongest warriors available.

In order to show the strength of Orso's people while still maintaining peace, he established a business dedicated to the protection of others, while still being able to fight back whenever necessary. Orso himself, after years of looking over Bravewood, felt it didn't need him anymore and instead became a mercenary, which led him to fighting in countless battles, making him a renowned hero. This "mercenary" position led him to a caravan job, thinking it would be a rather peaceful journey.

Name: Bryer Alma
Age: 26
Hometown: Blueshire
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5’8
Weight: 154
Eye/Hair Color: Black hair, brown eyes
Appearance: Bryer is often seen wearing his training attire, and a few extra gadgets and accessories of his own. These consists of a black robe that looks to be made of silky material, but is actually very durable. Underneath the robe is a pair of black sweat pants that allow for quiet movement and for natural body movement, along with a grey tank top. His shoes are also dark in color, but the under sides are coated with a strong layer of tough plastic to accommodate Bryer’s unique fighting style, this allows him to block sharp strikes while on the floor with the soles of his feet (originally, these were made of metal, but the loud clanking and sudden vulnerability of electricity called for a change). Around his waist is a leather belt with a small satchel attached that holds a few tools. A wooden good luck charm is worn around his neck, but it also holds a soft button that activates his Absorbent Shield invention. Also around his neck are where his red tinted goggles dangle, and his left wrist is home to a subtle silver bracelet.

Personality: Though at first glance he looks like a normal guy who dresses funny, Bryer is a brave, but gung-ho young man, usually getting himself into messes that are just too much for him to deal with while believing that he can easily handle the burden. He is a bright individual and enjoys creating new gadgets. These are usually frowned upon in his training, but they have contributed to his fighting style.

Skills/Talents
: Through his training, Bryer has been able to master and/or practice abilities that are out of reach for most people. His natural curiosity and quick working mind contribute to his many gadgets and unique fighting style:

Leaping Frog: One of the first moves Bryer was able to master, this allows him to jump incredible heights, as well as defy the laws of physics and propel himself again in midair.

Jaunt: Years of training have allowed Bryer to outrun the speed of men, and have given him superb reflexes.

Decoy: At a master’s level, this allows the user to create a fake of himself in order to trick his opponent. Unfortunately, Bryer has yet to master this technique and can only create fakes of small objects. However, he has learned to combine this with his bombs to create fakes that do no damage, but confuse others into thinking a much larger attack is about to hit.

Inner Will: With a second of concentration, Bryer can bolster his body to withstand impacts with much more physical punishment than normal.

Collapsible Staff: A simple durable rod that can be shrunken to the size of a small bar that fits in Bryer's satchel. When in use it can reach a maximum of two meters long, a bit longer than the size of a normal Bo Staff.

Absorbent Shield: A prototype defensive weapon Bryer has yet to complete. In theory, it’s supposed to suck in the water from the air, and at the touch of a button create an invisible shield around the user. At the moment, it has trouble absorbing the needed water, and the shield doesn’t protect as well as intended.

Bombs: Small black bombs that Bryer created and keeps in his satchel. Though they look menacing, the damage they deal leaves a lot to be desired. Depending on the terrain, they can leave a lot of dust behind.

Throwing Knives: Much like his bombs, these are quick and weak weapons that don’t do a lot of damage.

Ultra Ray Goggles
: Bryer’s pride and joy. They are a pair of red tinted goggles that allow infrared vision, zooming, tracking, and protection from bugs and dirt.

Biography: Born in the simple town of Blueshire, Bryer was raised in a temple of sorts where he was trained by their owners who practiced arts that were thought to be lost to the world. He admittedly wasn’t a quick learner, but after studying with them for a few years, things managed to stick with him. Though his techniques were less than perfect, he did manage to increase his strength and speed.

Technology wasn‘t a big hit in the temple, so when Bryer found more high-tech things at an early age he was fascinated by them. He studied how they worked and began tinkering on his own, creating more and more failed gadgets, all the while everyone around him told him to stop and focus more on his training. He admits that if he had spent less time creating and more time training he’d probably be better at his techniques than he currently is, but at the same time he doesn’t mind at all. Finally after a year of failures, he had begun to create working gadgets and integrated them into his training to create a new style. Though he has much to learn, his new way of fighting and his new inventions show a lot of promise.

The sun was high in the cloudless sky, the sands of the former Clover River now sweeping across the earth as the grains were picked up by the wind. No life was present in the area, except for the towering Orso Von Forza, his gauntlets and metal greaves clanking as his weight shifted to climb the high dunes of the now known Clover Desert. He squinted his eyes as he peered what was possibly ahead, while the large gourd filled with water was strapped to his back swished and swayed as he took each step.

Ahead, Orso saw what was known as the Clover River Basin, a former watering hole now changed into solid stone from years of lack of water. Stepping towards the edge of the five foot deep basin, he sat down on the ledge and unstrapped the container of water from his back. Putting the lid of the gourd to his lips, he slowly lifted the large container, the contents flooding towards his lips while the leftovers simply coated his fur. Putting the lid back on the gourd, he laid it down, jumping down to the rocky bottom five feet below him.

The bear stood in the center of the former watering hole, taking in the surrounding walls of solid stone around him. Closing his eyes, Orso looked towards the clear blue sky, trying to imagine the former river. In his mind, there was clear blue water, surrounded by healthy, green grass with trees of palm surrounding it. In the distance was also grass and small plant life, not as healthy as the plants surrounding the hole, but still healthy. He laid down on the solid stone bottom as his dream continued, letting his wet fur dry in the desert sun.

Clover River had definitely seen better days. A dried up river turned desert wasn't the best way to be, or at the very least it wasn't anything to be proud of. It was, however, the best place to find a specific type of ore Bryer needed for his newest invention-in-the-making, which was why he had made the trek here from Blueshire. This land was new to him, and as a result he was prone to getting lost and believing fake rumors. One of which was that there was a monster of sorts in the basin that attacked anyone who got close enough. Though he didn't honestly believe such a thing was true, he kept his guard up as he made his way down.

Searching down in the basin for the needed ore was more difficult than he had originally thought. The dried up dirt proved to be as hard as stone, and the shovel he brought with him hadn't made a dent in any of the spots he had chosen. He sighed before tossing the shovel aside and reaching into his satchel. Pulling out a handful of bombs, he lit their fuses and rolled them to the spot he was trying to dig out. The explosion was much larger and louder than he had anticipated, and thoughts of the monster rumor briefly entered his mind.

Orso heard the sound of an explosion going off, his eyes forced open in surprise and fear. Wondering what caused the loud noise, he clambered up from his space on the ground, following the scent of gunpowder. His nose led his eyes to the sight of a young man, appearing to be around his mid twenties with a shovel discarded on the ground a short distance away. With his gourd of water slung over his shoulder, he jumped down to the man's level, trying to process what he was doing there in the first place.

"Excuse me, sir, but you didn't happen to be the one who caused that deafening sound to awaken me, did you? I hope you have no plans of defacing this wondrous basin with that shovel... or explosives." Orso questioned the man, his head peering down at him inquisitively.

Orso examined the person, a child he preferred to refer to him since he appeared rather young and full of gung-ho energy ready to be released. His choice in attire was rather poor for the environment, considering it was a dark black robe with a pair of matching pants and his raven black hair didn't appear much suitable than his clothing. Adorned on his waist was a leather belt, complete with a pair of leather satchels, his neck decorated with some strange charm and a pair of goggles, confusing Orso as to what the purpose was for.

"It's a shame to see children like yourself defacing such beautiful scenery such as this, so I must ask of you to discontinue." Orso threatened, crossing his arms as he continued staring down at the male.

"Oh, where are my manners? My title is Orso Von Forza of Bravewood and leader of the mercenaries of Bravewood. What do your peers call you, child? And what is it that caused you to venture forth into this desert and feel the need to harm this basin?"

Bryer slowly turned around to face the speaker. To his horror, a giant...bear...person stood in front of him. He managed to keep his facial expression normal to not set off any unneeded alarms.
"Ah...yeah, that was me." Bryer answered with a small nervous chuckle. He suddenly felt like a child who had been caught trying to take a cookie from the jar before dinner. Except in this case he needed to do this in order to proceed with his inventions. "For science!" and all that junk.

"I am Bryer Alma!" He said proudly, sticking his chest out. It was hard to try and seem impressive in front of someone twice your size, but he tried anyone. "A trainee of a secret temple hidden in Blueshire, and inventor-in-the-making!" Though announcing a secret temple might seem like a bad idea, Blueshire has been well known for having a training temple that many are unable to find. I came to this dried up river in hopes of finding an ore said to to be plentiful in these types of places." He stomped on the ground twice. "Unfortunately, I didn't take into account how hard the ground would have been due to long hours spent in the sun." He wanted to turn around and keep trying to dig up the ground, but Orso's imposing figure made it difficult to excuse himself in confidence.

Orso couldn't help but laugh as the child puffed out his chest as he introduced himself, trying to seem impressive. They say that trying to make yourself look bigger than a bear will scare them off, but this child's attempt was rather pathetic. He also revealed that he was from a "secret temple" from a land known as Blueshire, which was hard for him to take seriously since the child might as well have put everyone at the temple in line waiting for a firing squad. He could imagine the others at the temple didn't likely believe in Bryer becoming an inventor, assuming it was like a normal temple in terms of their beliefs and conduct.

"Tell you what, child. How about we have a little sparring session and have a small bet on the side. If you manage to defeat me, I'll help you find whatever this ore is that you are defiling this place for and carry you and the ore back to whence you came. If I win, I'll help you, but you'll have to venture out on your own. Do we have a deal, little one?" Orso offered, extending his paw to shake with the man.

A small sparkle glinted in Bryer's eyes. It had been weeks since he had ventured away from the temple. Meditating and practice swings were all well and good, but nothing beat a good old fashion sparring match. Shame it had to be with this mountain of a man...bear, but that would just be another challenge for him to test himself with. Even if he lost, he could still get his precious ore, but winning meant he didn't have to carry it around with him all the way back. Which was good. That stuff gets heavy.

The trainee smiled broadly.
"I accept." He said before shaking Orso's massive paw. Paw pads. He resisted the urge to smush them around since Orso probably wouldn't have appreciated it, and it would've been kind of weird. He jumped back a bit and began to quickly size his opponent up. As big as he was, Bryer couldn't count on him being slow. He'd need to be as fast as possible and avoid those massive arms, since it probably wouldn't take many swings to take Bryer out, and he didn't want to rely on his prototype shield to save him.
"All set."

Orso smiled at Bryer's response, wondering if the child was as harmless as he looked. However, Orso knew from past encounters with kids his age that there was always a catch, whether it be some prowess with magic, able to swing a decorative sword with ease, or simply have gadgets that did the work for them. Orso had to stay on his toes, less he find out what this child's catch was the hard way. He nodded as his opponent announced he was ready to begin, looking Orso up and down, Orso doing the same with Bryer.

Orso closed his eyes as he raised his head towards the sky, feeling the wind sweep through his fur while his mind focused on his own thoughts. He moved his arms laterally from his torso, then raising them to have his paws meet, then lowering them down to his face, his eyes then opening as he looked into Bryer's eyes. He let out a war-like roar, jumping down on all fours and bounding towards his opponent, zigzagging slightly from side to side to try to keep his opponent from being able to hit him. If he was able to make it close enough, he would lunge towards Bryer and tackle him to the ground, attempting to pin him to the ground.

A quick roar was all it took to get his opponent racing at him. Bryer took stock of the newly formed situation, and he wasn't a fan. Going at Orso head on would be a terrible idea, and like he had previously thought, Orso was not at all a slow mover. Briefly Bryer thought about throwing a knife at the pouncing bear, but knew it wouldn't be worth it. His constant strafing would ruing Bryer's aim, and even if the knife were to connect, Bryer highly doubted it would even slow the massive man down.

He began to run towards Orso. Only a few steps after his ran began, he leaped high into the air, his momentum carrying him forward and upward. It took practice to get the timing right on a jumping strike like that, especially on a moving target. Thankfully, practice was all Bryer was did in the temple. Well, as far as his elders were concerned. The only problem now was Orso's sidesteps. Bryer's jump would either land him on top of the man where he can land a swift kick, or right next to him. If the latter, Bryer would either have to try to get in a quick strike or move to the defensive.

"It appears you still have much to learn, young child. Allow me to show you the error of your ways." Orso warned, watching Bryer rise off the ground.

Bryer had jumped into the air whilst Orso had been dashing towards him, jumping from side to side as he made his way towards his target. Orso watched as the boy aimed himself towards Orso, but Orso pushed his front paws off of the ground, his weight now shifted so he stood upright as usual while he skidded his hind legs to a halt. His eyes trained on Bryer, he brought his left paw forward to where Bryer's foot was aimed for, clasping his paw around it and reeling the man in closer, while his other arm was ready to land a punch to the boy's abdominal area. After the punch would land, he would gain a hold on the boy and drop him a short distance away.

"Listen, young one. You should never leave yourself fully vulnerable, or else things much worse than that may happen. Attacking from the skies are likely to leave one vulnerable, unless you are large or are of a heavy stature like myself. You, however, are much the opposite of me, so I highly suggest you keep yourself to the ground... lest you fall victim to a counter much worse."

Bryer ate the dust. Though he had planned out his move, it was obvious to him and probably to Orso that he didn't think every detail out. It never occurred to him that the bear man would fly after him...Or maybe it did, but his mind decided to subconsciously take the risks and try anyway. If so, then his mind had made a mistake. The ground under him was surprisingly flaky, and as soon as he landed a cloud of dust formed. The actual ground was still as solid as ever, but the cloud could be used for cover, assuming Orso's sense of smell wasn't as strong as a dogs. He coughed once as he got to his feet. He had learned for certain that being on your back was definitely not the position you wanted to be in during a fight, but something the man said rang in his ear:

"Attacking from the skies are likely to leave one vulnerable, unless you are large or are of a heavy stature like myself. You, however, are much the opposite of me, so I highly suggest you keep yourself to the ground..."

That had given him an idea he could exploit later, if he had the chance. Now was the time for a different plan, however. His mind raced for ideas. If he had paid more attention during his training, he would already know how to become transparent, but that was not something he had mastered yet. Instead, he placed his goggles on his eyes, turning on the installed infrared to better track Orso while Bryer was still in the cloud. Then he lit a bomb. My opponent has brute force on his side. He could just tackle me down and have good results, but if I tried the same thing the results would be less than favorable. A fake bomb appeared in his free hand. He inhaled silently. Then exhaled. Bryer then threw the fake bomb to the right side of the man, making sure that it landed directly to his right. In this situation most people would jump away from the bomb, to the left. Bryer held on to the real bomb and threw it in the direction Orso would be as soon as he left the ground, making it so it would connect as soon as he was in midair.

After Bryer had hit the ground, Orso noticed a small cloud of dust was formed from the impact, something that Orso would have to keep in mind, lest he would possibly lose his advantage over the young lad. Instead of waiting for Orso to possibly forget the idea, the boy threw something blindly towards Orso's right side, to which he instinctively ran to his left. He wondered why he didn't hear an explosion from the first bomb, only to look back and realize it was a dud. He looked back towards the dust cloud, seeing another one, most likely real, heading towards him. He skidded to a stop and started to backstep away from the bomb.

As it exploded, Orso found the strength to dive backwards, the greaves on his legs absorbing the shrapnel that came out of the explosion while his body was covered in the dust and dirt that was flung into the air. He looked at the dust cloud that Bryer was in, getting slightly annoyed at his tactic. However, he had to keep pride in himself that he would be able to claim victory in this battle. With a short moment to relax, he focused on how his people had survived prejudice and pain all those years ago, until his body began to glow a lightning yellow hue.

With his new-found speed, he rushed forward into the cloud, his speed at least doubled from before. If he was fast enough, he would tackle Bryer to the ground and sit on his legs in order to keep him from getting up.

The complete opposite of what he wanted to happen was about to happen. Head on collisions with this man were probably like head on collisions with tress, except tress didn't have face sized fists with which to keep attacking. From the goggle's infrared vision, Bryer saw Orso rushing at him. He took a second to think things over--the only spare second he had. If he had fully mastered the duplication training, he could fake a hit and make an escape. But he couldn't, so he didn't. Instead he had to think differently. Within that same second, he pulled out his staff. It was a short one, or at least it was short at the moment. About a few inches long. He crouched, taking a jumping stance, but didn't move. Inhale, exhale. Briefly he felt his muscles tighten up, and he became more alert. Once Orso was nearly on top of him he faked a jump, but instead had the staff expand itself. Orso's forward momentum would most likely have him collide with the staff, at least stunning him. And even if it didn't, it would at least put him off guard so Bryer would have an opening.

Before Orso had time to react, Bryer faked jumping into the air, then a staff that he had not even seen before extended before him. Due to his now impaired vision, he had no clue what was in front of him, thinking Bryer was there. After bounding off of the ground, his face came into contact with the staff, causing him to reel back, holding his snout. He was growing more irritated, but knew that rage and fury would likely do more harm than good for both of them.

The boy definitely had some tricks up his sleeves, but Orso knew that once he got him into some kind of submission or pin, the child would be finished. Instead of taking any chances of being countered, Orso swiftly ran out of the dust cloud, waiting for Bryer to be forced to fight him head on. He stood up on his hind legs and, like a sumo wrestler, he stamped both of his feet into the ground, waiting for whatever Bryer had to throw at him.

Bryer stayed in the dust cloud for a few seconds as Orso retreated a bit, waiting for his next move. He realized there was no next move from Orso, and instead he was waiting for Bryer to attack. So far all of his successful moves have been reactions and tricks, but as the dust cloud began to blow away he found himself with little room for anything of that sort. At the moment the only way forward would be to attack head-on, the one thing he was avoiding since this sparing session started. There was still one last trick he could try but that would be for later, and even when it was pulled it wouldn't be a ground breaking action. But for now he didn't have much choice. He rushed Orso.

As he neared the large bearman, he kept himself low in an attempt to make himself a smaller target. He would rely on his speed to avoid attacks and deliver sharp blows to the mountain of a man as to weaken him before unleashing more powerful attacks, and he would start it with a quick right jab at Orso's chest.

Orso was rather shocked to see Bryer rush straight towards him, hunched over a little in order to make himself a smaller target and possibly hide what he might have been planning. He thought for sure the boy would pull a knife, dagger, or some weapon on him, but he was well past surprised to feel a jab to his stomach. It really didn't hurt Orso, except for throwing him off guard and forcing him to look straight down at where he was punched, then back at Bryer. He smiled down at Bryer, admiring his effort, but his battle-hardened body was used to much more abuse, let alone a punch from a man like him.

"I admire your efforts, young one, but please keep your own strength in mind. I see technology is much more friendly towards you than it is to me, so I would advise you take advantage. Otherwise, you are going to end up in a situation much like this." Bryer advised, looking down at Bryer.

As he noticed the man readying another punch with his left, Orso caught Bryer's left punch, and quickly snatched his right, forcing the two into a grapple. It didn't take much for Orso to be able to move forward and push Bryer back, so to give him a chance, he took slow, dramatic steps as he pushed him back, trying to give him a way to possibly escape. Otherwise, Orso would pin him against the rock wall and then slide him onto the ground, pinning him to the ground.

His plan went as sour as it could possibly have gone. Already the large rock wall was looming behind him, threatening to completely destroy any chance of coming out on top of this little competition. With the small amount of time remaining he tried to remember the things he had learned the previous years. Surely they would be able to assist him now, even though this problem was caused by his own rashness. There were people who used their opponent's strength against them. He remembered that. They used something called...yudo? judo? Vudo? Whatever, the name wasn't important. What was important now was Bryer's timing. That would determine his escape or defeat.

He took a quick glance behind him as Orso pushed him closer and closer into the wall. Bryer could feel the rough earth under him slowly giving way revealing much softer earth underneath. At the very least this spot might come into use later as a new digging point. The wall was nearly upon him now as sweat began to form on his brow. This could either work, or dislocate his shoulder. Either way, it was now or never. With a sharp intake of breath, Bryer hopped onto the wall redirecting Orso's push to keep him in a sideways crouched position. With the split second of being attached to the wall, he kicked off, loosening the bear-man's grip on him enough to shake his hands off his. When he landed free of his predicament, he shoulder bashed back to the large man in an attempt to slam him against the very wall that would have otherwise met the boy's end. Bryer then quickly rolled to the side, waiting for the next move.

Orso and Bryer were just in front of the wall of rock, Bryer's back towards the wall, until Orso saw something he had seen before- Not often, but it had been done before. Bryer used Orso's arms to hold him as he scaled the wall until he was at the peak of Orso's arm span, then launching himself like a missile over Orso. As Bryer came towards him, Orso was forced to release Bryer's palms from the grapple and allow the child to land behind him. As all fighters would do in such a situation, Orso predicted a counterattack from Bryer, who was running behind him with his shoulder forward in a manner similar to a football tackle. He certainly underestimated Orso's strength and experience.

Balling his left paw into a fist, Orso anticipated his opponent's attack, quickly turning around with his fist sweeping from his left side, hooking into Bryer's left side and likely to send the boy reeling to the right in pain if the punch managed to connect with the boy's likely fragile sides. If, however, something would divert his left hook, it would be likely that he would be pressed between Bryer and the wall of stone that was originally meant for Bryer to be pinned to.
