Oh well Green Bay just made it seem like Farve wouldn't be able to come in and manage the team. They made it seem like it was a completely different team that they took so many steps to change since Farve annouced retirement. After all this I rather see Farve just retire and leave since Green Bay pulled this bullshit. I use to love the Pack, but I don't think I will be rooting for them this year.

To me thats not it at all. They're tired of being held hostage every offseason by Brett. For like the past 4 years its been the same thing over and over again. Then this year Brett finally retires, holds a big press conference, cries yada yada yada. Then a couple months later he wants to come back? Uh uh. The train has pulled out of the station. They made a commitment to Aaron Rodgers and it's not fair to him that Brett Farve can't make up his mind.

I understand that Rodgers time is soon but if you have about the same team and your QB wants to come back you take that chance. Farve had not question retiring until mainly this year the last 4 years i am not sure where you got that he held them hostage, but they knew he was coming back those years and had his spot open. Packers were never held hostage the ball was always in their court on figuring what to do. They offered him 20 million to stay at home for the next 2 seasons. If anyone knows anything about Farve then you know that it isn't about the money and instead about playing and having fun. Green Bay could have offered him something else in my mind such as a coaching position to help Rodgers.

I understand both sides, but its not natural Farve not being in Green Bay. They could have done something to keep him here. I figured when Farve announced his retirement that it wasn't going to last. Anyone that watched last season knew that Farve was 1 pass away from a Superbowl and if he came back he could have lead that team all the way this year. Young defense that really good, running back with huge upside talent, a decent wide-recievers, and a good offensive line. Why would he not came back.

Farve has seriously contemplated retirement for the past four or more years. They never had the slightest idea on whether or not he was coming back. I don't know if you remember but about two years ago it damn near took until the beginning of training camp for him to make up his mind. And this year, his spot was open as always but he retired. He left the team. He didn't say "I'm coming back" or "I need some time to think about it". He said "I'm done,"

Brett Farve said:
I know I can play, but I don't think I want to. And that's really what it comes down to.

Those were his exact words. So after they commit to Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback you think its right for him to just come up and say nevermind? No, I don't think so. And yes they offered him $20 million to stay retired because they didn't want the distraction of the media that he would bring with him in their training camp.

No the last few years everyone around kept saying he was retiring, but everything he kept saying was that he could still do it.

I just don't think you trade the guy that has made sure your team went out week to week for over a decade. You do what you can to make this guy stay and be happy. Hell tell him he will have split time with Rodgers this year or something. Have a two QB system, but you don't trade a guy who just had the best year for a QB that was on a team that was only suppose to go .500. All they got let alone was a draft pick.

They traded for a 4th round pick that will increase in value depending on how the Jets do this year.
According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50 percent of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth-rounder becomes a third-round pick. If he gets 70 percent of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a second-round pick; and if he gets 80 percent of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a first-round pick.
ESPN - Jets set for Brett: Packers legend headed to New York - NFL

Its not horrible and it may be good for both teams. But no matter so many people will always see Farve as a Packer and its just unnatural for him to play elsewhere. But oh well I do hope the Packers do good still but I dont think Rodgers will be greatly effective this year.

So, are the conditions of the trade available yet?

What? Where were you the past couple of years?

Two QB systems don't work. Farve shouldn't have retired. The Packers aren't expected to go ass-out just to keep this guy around. He left. He flip-flopped. Feelings got hurt. Now he's in New York.

Personally, I am just glad this whole Packers/ Favre dilemma is over with. I'm tired of the whole thing ALWAYS, ALWAYS being the first thing on the Rundown on Sportscenter, Pardon the Interruption, 1st & 10, Around the Horn, etc etc. I think there may have been one day where Favre was second, only because of the Manny Ramirez trade.

I feel bad for Aaron Rodgers, considering the fact that even if he throws one incomplete pass this season, no matter how many TD's he throws for, he will be ridiculed SOLELY because he isn't Brett Favre.

If on this Monday that just past the Oklahoma City basketball team announced their name as the Big Cocks it wouldn't have made front page news. That's how big this story was.
