"What the hell is that thing?"
"These readings... it's the same one that attacked the International Space Station!"
"Hail the William. Deploy all Combat Frames."
Children Of Steel
In an alternate future, Earth is under attack by a mysterious alien menace, capable of possesing it's victims and transforming them into monsters. You take the role of a pilot of an advanced combat machine, known as a Proto Frame, representing a nation of your choice in the defence of mankind. Inspired by a myth, religious, or historical figure related to the country you represent, your Frame is the only weapon capable of defending againt the aliens, and the last hope of humanity.
Countries
Country/Roleplayer/Frame/Basis
When choosing your country, bear in mind this is set in an alternate future, so you may choose an empire or race deemed "Dead" in this world, such as the aztecs and spartans, or rewrite history so a relativly small nation in this reality is on-par with larger empires, such as canada or new zealand. There may only be one person representing each country, however.
Let's try to avoid using any basis' that may offend others. For example, off the top of my head, the pilot from Germany will not be piloting a swatsticka-emblazoned mecha-hitler. Even if you think it'd be cool for his moustache to fire lasers.
If you intend to join, please post the country of your choice, the name of your Frame, and it's basis. It's first-come-first-served insofar as countries as concerned. If the one you want is taken, perhaps you could research another country with similar claim to the basis you wanted to use.
Additional backstory, information on specific nations and politics, and information related to the aliens will be avilable before the RP begins. Currently there is a briefing on the design and operation of the mecha you will be piloting below.
England - Endgame (R-Type Thermic Proto Frame - King Arthur)
Norseland - Orion (Obsidian Delta-v Insertion Proto Frame - Odin)
Japan - Scarlette102 ( ? - Ninja/Samurai)
Russia - Chaotic Dreams ( ? - ? )
India - ? ( ? - Blue Tiger)
Egypt - Angel of Death ( ? - Anubis)
The "Aliens" are a mysterious force capable of altering the human body, transforming the mind and physical form of it's victims into monsters. Their exact nature is unknown, and thus far, data collected on victims indicates that they are 99.5% identical to humans, in terms of composition and structure. For an unknown reason, the "Aliens" cannot attack humans within Earth's atmosthere, only those within space, thus all extra-atmosthere activities are on indefinate lockdown following the capture and transformation of the crews of several ships and the international space station.
At this stage, it is unknown if humans who've fallen victim to this process can be rescued.
Thus far a single major discovery has been made concerning the aliens: Their victims produce a field of unknown origin and function in which airbourne signals cannot travel, rendering Mass-Production Combat Frames immobile and useless in close proximity.

Frames
There are two distinct types of Mecha, or 'Frames', in this world: Combat Frames, and Proto Frames. A Frame is a humanoid machine containing internal mechanics based on the biological systems of the human body, but reproduced artifically. Every Frame has three critical systems: A Skeletal System, a Muscular System, and a Nervous System, all modelled on their biological equivilents. Anything lacking these three systems does not meet the requirements to be termed a Frame, and thus falls into a different catagory of Mobile Weapon.
Combat Frames are uniform mass-production Frames used by the military in numbers. Each Combat Frame of a given nation will have the exact same schematic and armament, however, models vary between nations. Nations are allowed a limited number of Combat Frames due to their destructive potential, and each is controlled remotely via a central location. The exact limit differs between nations, with more powerful nations having more strict limitations placed upon them.
Proto Frames, on the other hand, are advanced Prototypes designed to incorperate experimental technology. A nation has no limitations on Proto Frames, however, they are usually produced by a third-party company or corperation, and the design patent sold to the military along with the complete prototype. Proto Frames differ from Combat Frames both in design, and in their requirement for a human pilot to operate the Frame from within. Because of their experimental and often unpredictable nature, it is necessary for a pilot to be physically within the Frame to manually respond should something go wrong.
Proto Frames are often heavily customised based on the preferences of their investors and creators, and on occasion even by request of the test pilot, as the pilot's affinity for the Frame improves their ability to pilot it more responsivly and effectivly. The pilot system operates via implants in the pilot's brain, which connect them directly to the Frame's artifical systems as though they were their own, a man-machine interface that forms a symbiotic relationship between the two. In basic terms, the pilot's brain functions as a part of the circuit that allows the Frame to run: A Proto Frame cannot move without a pilot. In more specific terms, the Frame actually uses the pilot's brain as a biological processor, taking advantage of the complexity and speed of the one part of the human body that cannot yet be artifically reproduced. As such, the more immersed and comfortable a pilot feels within their Frame, the better the quality of the connection between the two.
Skeletal System
A frame's skeleton is a rigid, heavily reinforced, yet flexible design that forms the framework for the entire system. The Skeleton functions much like the human equivilent, and a broken "Bone" can be just as dehabilitating for a Frame as any human.
Muscular System
The artifical muscular overlay is attached directly to the Skeletal System, and is responsible for the movement of the Frame within the range the Skeleton allows. It expands and contracts certain groups in the same way it's biological equivilent does.
Nervous System
The connecting pathway between all componants of a Frame, the Nervous system carries signals to and from the pilots brain, linking the two together. Warning signals produced by the nervous system are percieved as physical pain by the pilot, allowing them to "Feel" which parts of the Frame's body are damaged.
Circulatory System
The means of fueling the Frame's individual componants, the Circulatory system pumps synthetic blood around the Frame's body, powered by a H-Engine, the literal mechanical heart of the Frame. All Frames possess a Circulatory system, though some also possess a backup or supplementary power supply, be it electric, nuclear, solar, or any other possible alternative. When the Circulatory system is breeched, it will self-seal within minutes, cutting off the loss of fuel and using any number of alternate pathways to redirect the fuel as necessary.
Tactile System
The "Skin" of the Frame is composed of several layers of flexible plastic compounds, each with a different role, and housing a number of segmented armour plates covering the vital areas such as the chest and head.
Exo-Suit
An Exo-Suit is a device necessary to physically pilot a Proto-Frame. It acts as a physical connection between the pilot and the Frame, connecting the two together while insulating the pilot against electrocution and feedback. In many ways, it functions as a surge protector, taking the damage to protect the pilot if something goes wrong with the Frame. It's also designed to protect the pilot in the event of an unexpected emergency, including built-in kevlar plating, and it's own artifical muscular system to enhance the pilot's strength. The suit contains a built-in CPU which automatically tenses, contracts, or expands the artificial muscles to compensate for physical forces which the pilot may experience whilst piloting the Frame.
Piloting a Frame without an Exo-Suit is possible, but requires the pilot to (Painfully) connect him/herself to the Frame, and carries much more risk to their safety.
Each individual Suit is different, but they all share one basic componant: A panel on the spine that houses six plugs, which match up with identical plugs implanted in the pilot's spine. Six connecting cables are housed in the Frame's cockpit, which form the physical connection between Pilot, Suit and Frame.
