1. Some kind of virus called java.EXODER.av snuck into my comp.

It started when I got some error that said "generic host process for win32 has encountered an error" and kept prompting me for an error report.

2. I want to wipe my computer and reinstall windows xp anyway.

3. I boot from the CD at the startup screen and the CD said "loading files" then "windows is starting" then....blue screen with

0X0000007B(0xF78D6636, 0x00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) as the error.

I tried looking around a lot, it seems that I have to do something like change the SATA drive to IDE mode for compatibility, but I can't find that in the BIOS.

It started when I got some error that said "generic host process for win32 has encountered an error" and kept prompting me for an error report.

So uh...yeah, booting from the CD then formatting the disk and reinstalling windows was my back-up of back-ups, if that's not even working, what do I do short of crushing the computer with a sledgehammer in rage?

Have you already tried just staring up in Safe Mode and doing a System Restore? Just set it back a week or so, and then, since you want to anyway, reinstall XP.

Yeah, I'll try that, if that doesn't work, I'll try installing Windows 7. It's possible that since I'm using winXP sp 3, the SP 1 disc isn't working even from a disc boot(at least that's what I read...somewhere).

If that doesn't work, i'll try getting a new hard drive.

The RAM could also be screwed, I'll try getting more sticks.

TBH, when I read about this online, there were so many different possibilities and solution that it's giving me a damn headache, at least I know some new computer terms now >.<.

No damn way I want to have to replace an entire $2200 computer(was top-of-the-line gaming comp, bought it 3 years ago, could run fallout 3 on max settings when that game was released) now it's acting like a slow ass hunk of crap due to the random crap I must have installed over the years.
