Correct me if I'm wrong, but in CoM Riku became able to detect darkness, not recognize people. But he tells Namine that she smells like Kairi, meaning they must have the same amount of darkness. But Kairi is a PoH and Namine is able to use darkness. Can somebody explain it to me?

The Darkness let him detect people to an extent. Like how Zexion realized that Riku met Maleficent in CO, and furthermore that it was a Memory double.
I always took it to mean he was referring to the Kairi he saw in the Light, seeing how that's what he was talking about, how Namine was actually the Kairi he saw when he was fighting Zexion.
Otherwise, I really have to wonder how come it took him up to KHII without realizing whose Nobody she was. You can argue he didn't really see her face seeing how in Days he had to pull his blindfold up to see Xion's "face", but had Namine truly smelled like the real Kairi, I'd have hoped he'd connect the dots at least a little bit.

As for what Riku said, I highly doubt Maleficent ever really told him what the deal with Kairi was. So he'd have had little reason to think she couldn't fall into Darkness.
The overall logic did, after all, say that losing Heart = losing it to Darkness, so.
