Welp, Dissidia is shutting down for consoles and arcades. Online will continue for now but there’ll be no more updates after the next one.

I'm only happy because this could mean they could revisit the Dissidia brand into what it originally was with the first game and Duodecim. Maybe they could make it work via individual chapters? With the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake project still looming over the FF brand, maybe they could interchange between some FF characters and VII protagonists?

If there’s a future for Dissidia, it’s many years away. They said there won’t be a sequel (which doesn’t count out a reboot or anything, but it’s safe to say the entire brand is dead outside of mobile)

Man, they eff this game up from day 1 with the focus on arcade multiplayer at the expense of the singleplayer content people liked about the PSP games. They could've moved the series to 3DS or Vita & put out an entry similar to Duodeciem but they never did. They could then be cashing in on the Switch's explosive popularity with a multiplayer driven portable game but they aren't. They're choosing to kill the series outright then do it right.

It's a port of an arcade game. I imagine Sony gave them data concerning online subscriptions and they decided to make a PS4 version. Who wouldn't want to see and use their favorite FF character in glorious HD?

That wouldn't have worked. The 3DS was a slight jump from the NDS because of the focus on 3D graphics. If they had made a 3DS game, it would have been different in terms of graphics and fighting style. Reason as to why the 3DS only got the Theatrerhytm spinoff.

Vita underperformed, even with the rerelease with LCD screen.

There's Dissidia Opera Omnia, which is a safer bet, seeing as how it's a mobile game. We could maaaaaaaaaaaaybe get another Dissidia property after Opera Omnia is close to meeting its life expectancy.

Huh? 3DS is basically PSP level graphics. DDD alone should be proof that 3DS can play PSP type games.

I completely forgot about DDD. Maybe they didn't want to bother with the screen transition.
