Akira threw her disk hard, making it spin with great intensity. Roxas ducked cowardly, and gasped. She caught it in her extended right hand, and cocked her head to the side. She began to run towards him, only to flip over him. She aimed at his head and retracted her hand to throw, but Roxas had other plans in mind. He grabbed the outstretched, empty hand and pulled it, bringing her down to the ground. She fell with a thud, the disk flying out of her hands and out of reach. She growled and looked at Roxas. He had his grip on her tightly.
She then swung her legs to her chest and with her right she kicked him square in the chest. He slid away from her, and she scrambled up to run for her disk.
Roxas then grabbed his own disk and threw it at the distracted Akira, making a narrow miss after she went downwards to slide towards her own disk. Suddenly, she stopped. Roxas caught his own disk, confused. Just as he was to speak, the pod encasing them began to shake, and they were sent upwards.
Akira flipped herself over to meet the needs of the switch of the gravity plane. Roxas did as she. Once they were well settled, they looked at each other, meeting eyes unknowingly behind their black masks. Akira punched with her disk , only finding Roxas to block. She growled again, throwing punches and jabs at her opponent, with or without the disk, and finally Roxas let his guard down. Akira brought the disk to his arm and the rolling light blades burned and gashed him through his suit.
Roxas cried in pain, and grabbed his arm. Quickly, he turned to deflect another of Akira's hits, but found she was gone. The gravity plane switched back to its original state, in which Roxas found himself falling. He looked up and his eyes widened.
Akira held her disk and her arm out, her right leg forward and aimed straight at her opponent. As they tubbed down, Akira semi-straddled him and pulled the arm that held her disk back. She prepared for the kill, confused why he didn't disintegrate when she hit him in the arm and-
She stopped and caught sight of his arm. The suit was torn, and in it was a gash, a bleeding gash. Blood? Programs don't bleed.
"User." She muttered.
She turned off the rotating disk and put it behind her back. The crowd booed.
Roxas sighed in relief, but his relief was short lived when Akira punched him in the face, knocking him out cold. The crowd cheered momentarily.
"Stop." Akira ordered, and as always, the time frame around her stopped. Roxas groaned in his unconsciousness.
"User?" Akira knelt down beside her opponent, curious.
"Hmph." She walked away, summoning a light cycle.
By the way, I'm in the middle of hysteria right about now. I had a sudden realization of great truth like an hour ago.
"Gah…my head-" Roxas rubbed his temple and opened his eyes, to see a slender figure walking away. He blinked as he regained consciousness, then scrambled up.
"H-hey!" He called after her. She stopped, suddenly.
"What." She demanded. A light cycle materialized before her. Roxas scratched his head.
"Er-" Roxas hesitated. What now? "What's-what are you doing?" He smacked his forehead (well, the helmet's outer part) in stupidity. She sighed.
"I need to find MCP." She then lifted her hand to show him. "And inject this." A USB. Why a USB?
"Er, need help?" Roxas asked. Akira laughed.
"Thanks, but no thanks. I got it." She then straddled the cycle and began to leave.
"No, wait!" Roxas was to late, for she sped off, leaving only a beam of light behind. He sighed in exasperation.
"Roxas? Come in Roxas?" Someone cackled in his ear. Roxas brought his hand to his ear.
"Roxas? It's Demyx!"
"Demyx?" He asked, cautiously. On the other line, Demyx laughed.
"What are you up to, brah?" Roxas then heard "DEMYX!" In the background. It sounded like Vexen.
"Oh yeah, right. Okay Roxas, we need you to help Akira get to MCP." He said causually. Roxas nodded.
"Who is in possession of the USB?" Demyx asked.
"Then you help her. If Xane gets possession, you help her." Demyx answered. Roxas stayed silent.
"Okay." He answered, sighing.
"Alright! Now Akira needs two more levels to meet MCP, but Zexion and Vexen have located Akira's coordinates and she is heading towards the "End of Line" Dance Club. Find her-wait, does she know you're-?"
"No," Roxas answered, "She isn't aware of who I am or if I'm here." Roxas began stepping out of the pod, wondering how long this time-stop would last.
"Okay. We need you to get Akira to trust you enough, and help her get to MCP. BUT, you need to look out for Tron."
"Yeah. Tron has had contact with Akira and tried to tell her not to get to MCP. If you see him, keep him AWAY from Akira. Akira is looking for 'the one who can help'. His name is Zuse. " Demyx's connection began to fuzz.
"Demyx?" Roxas called, hearing no response. "Hello?!"
No response. Roxas summoned a light cycle the Akira had done so before and followed the beam of light Akira had left behind.
Akira had exited the arena not long ago, letting her time-stop run on. The city scape was now familiar in her own eyes, the black and waxed asphalt reflecting the light off her light cycle. She came to a stop as she found a lone person on the road.
"Don't go any further!" The person shouted. Akira sighed and hopped of her light cycle.
"Tron?" She asked. His helmet came off. Akira neared him cautiously.
"I can't let you go further, User. Clu is dangerous and if he finds you are a living User in a program's world, he will want to use you."
"Clu?" She asked. "I'm looking for MCP."
"Clu is in all essence MCP. MCP is just the computer program in which Clu works with. Clu is the real threat." Tron circled Akira, eyeing her. "You've upgraded." He said.
Akira looked down, to see her old suit converting into black, the blue filament glowing brightly. She grinned.
"Where can I find Clu?" She demanded. Tron shook his head.
"No," He pressed. Akira put her hand on her hip.
"Seriously. Tron, just tell me where to find Clu, my light cycle will fade." Akira gestured to her light cycle disappearing for moments. Tron sighed.
"The "End of Line" Club. Find the one who can help."
Akira sighed in response. "Tron, really! You need to tell me more! I'm lost here, and my light cycle will be gone for an hour if you don't hurry and tell me where and who the one who can help is!"
An engine roared loudly, and a blue light cycle pulled up next to them. Akira looked at the unknown program on the cycle, then at her own cycle, to see it disappear before her eyes. She groaned.
"Get on." The program demanded. That voice…
"You're the user I beat in the final!" She accused. Roxas smiled inside his helmet.
"User, you have no business here! As do you, young girl." Tron interjected, pulling his disk from his back.
"There's no need for that, Tron." Roxas replied. He looked over at Akira. "Hop on. I know who you're looking for."
Akira hesitated, then ran to the User, sitting behind him and wrapping her arms around his waist. She squeezed him a bit, then rested her head on his back.
"End of Line." She said. Roxas revved the engine and sped off. Tron sighed.
"They're going to get killed." He said, putting his disk back on his back and watching the two of the only three users still alive in this world speeding to their uncertain destination.
Akira and Roxas looked up at the large building, one lone elevator going up and down between the ground and the thumping music at the top floor. Akira was the first to hop off, disabling her helmet. She stepped forward, then stopped.
"Aren't you coming?" Akira asked, "And won't you take off the helmet?"
Roxas ignored her last question and left his light cycle in the alley in which they had parked. Akira and Roxas walked side by side to the elevator doors when a female voice called upon them.
"Roxas!" A computerized voice called once more.
"Roxas?" Akira looked at the User beside her. He shrugged. "I- who's this 'Roxas'?" He answered.
Akira and Roxas turned around to see a young woman with a tall and slender body, her white body suit hugging her curves. Her bleach blonde hair was tied into a neat ponytail and her eyelashes flipped dramatically with every blink. She was wearing a plastic cover up and holding an umbrella in her hands.
"Jem?" Roxas smiled in his helmet. Jem looked at Akira momentarily, giving her a mere look of disgust. They locked eyes and Akira smiled sarcastically.
"A friend?" Jem asked politely, her computer-like voice ringing in Roxas's ears. He nodded. Suddenly, he grabbed Akira's arm.
"Yeah. Sorry, we need to get to-"
"End of Line? I'm heading there too, program." Jem courteously. Roxas gestured Akira to follow, when she let go of him.
"I'm sorry-your name?"
Roxas stuttered. "Uh-my-my name?"
Akira nodded expectantly, beginning to follow Jem.
"Er…." Roxas had to think of something and quick!
"Rez!" Demyx suddenly screamed in his ear. Akira giggled, not catching the difference in voices. "Rez?"
"Er, yeah okay." Roxas said, catching up with her.
Loud music roared into their ears, the bass thumping. Roxas looked at Akira, who looked at Jem, who looked at Roxas through the corner of her eye.
The elevator doors slid open, and the music was clear. The techno was contagious, running through your bones. Jem, Roxas, and Akira walked in, watching the scene before them.
Jem put her hand on Roxas's chest. "Wait here. I think I know who you're looking for." She winked at Roxas, then walked off. Akira turned to look at him, smiling.
"I think she likes you, Rez." She giggled, punching his arm. Roxas laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head.
Akira looked over at Jem, and saw her speaking to a man with a white suit much like hers, with penguin tuxedo flaps on the rear and a cane to accessorize the outfit. She smiled and brought him close to him, whispering in his ear. He laughed, then stopped, looking at Roxas and Akira with wide eyes.
He then giggled childishly and suddenly disappeared.
Jem neared the man in white with a fluorescent cane. He squealed.
"Ah, Jem! My good friend. What brings you here?" He asked grandly, putting his arms in the air. Jem grabbed his right elbow and pulled him in gently, leaning into his ear.
"We found her," She whispered, smiling. Castor looked over at the small and slender female with her slick black hair pulled back in a ponytail much like Jem's, and the person next to her wearing a helmet.
He began a slow chuckle, then began to giggle. He and Jem locked eyes and grinned in unison.
"We must report!"
He disappeared, appearing in a separate room. He skipped forward, towards a couch facing the computerized city. A silhouette of a girl with blonde hair cascading down her back and shoulders faced Castor.
"We found her, dear! And she has a friend!" He clapped like a vapid school girl, then stopped when he sensed no one laughing with him.
"That's great." The silhouette cheered quietly. She then stood up, revealing a curvy body as well. She turned to look at Castor, a grin on her face.
"With that USB, we'll get you to the real world, Zuse." Her green eyes brightened as she reached for her disk, the fluorescence kicking in as she tested the sharpness of the rim.
Gem began to walk back to the two Users, her hips swaying to the beat supplied by the DJ's. She smiled and as she reached them, turned in a semi-circle and put her arm around Roxas's, holding him in escort position.
"Have fun, kiddies. Castor will be but a moment." She sang, batting her eyes. She winked at Roxas and left his arm, disappearing from view. Roxas blushed and grinned goofily from inside his helmet.
Akira glared at her, the type of confused but strangely angry stare that came off as a glare. Roxas looked to see Akira staring at Gem intently as she walked away. Akira then jumped, and shook her head. Strange, she thought.
"Welcome friends!" A bubbly voice roared from up above. Everyone cheered and looked up at steps, the steps Gem had recently returned from. Standing before the entire crowd was a man with snow white hair and pale skin, eyes icey blue and a smile from ear to ear, very convincing. He held a cane, an accessory that would much grab your attention. He then looked at the pair standing at the entrance, and-if possible- his smile stretched even wider.
He began to walk down the steps with swagger, with gusto, as the crowd began to move away. He glided to our direction, arms out gracefully.
"Are you two…" He looked at them up then down-" the Users?"
Akira nodded. Roxas did as well.
"Are you two here for the party? The drinks? The music?" He stopped, then looked Akira surreptitiously in the eye. "Or…"
"Zuse." She said. "The one who could help."
He grinned. "Follow me, milady." He extend out his arm and Akira hesitantly took it. Roxas followed behind, when Gem suddenly caught him in her arm. He looked at her surprised, then she smiled.
"You're eyes are enticing," She said. Roxas was confused. "The disk's information is very clear." She answered his internal question.
Castor brought the two Users and his friend Gem to the stairs once more, but Castor stopped, facing the DJ booth where two men were absorbed in their beat making.
"Change the mood, boys!" He commanded grandiosely, "Electrify the boys and girls!"
As commanded, the music became lively and energetic, winning the programs over as they started to dance faster.
But the sound quickly faded out.
"Xemnas, what's in that USB anyway?" Demyx inquired, listening to everything in Roxas's range of hearing. He bopped his head to the music on the other line.
Zexion snorted. Xemnas turned his back to watch the screen. It was Vexen who answered.
"It's a mega virus. To kill anything Namine has done thus far." He then turned to look at Xemnas and Zexion, the two partners in crime.
"But let us hope she does not find the contents of the USB."
Demyx cocked his head to the side. "What do you mean?"
Vexen looked back at them, then neared Demyx, whispering:
"If she reads the information in the state she's in, all her memories- forgotten, erased, or replaced- will be returned immediately.
Vexen shook his head. "She'll be out for good. Or at least for a long while."
