After the Meteor incident the group formerly known as Avalanche came to be known as hero’s by the public and were honoured with statues and memorials all over the world, there story being passed down from generation to generation. Upon returning to the mess that was Midgar they were greeted with festivities the world had never seen before. Ticker tape parades, keys to the city, you name it, they got it.
Eventually the world slowly got back on its feet and Midgar was redeveloped with the plate being destroyed and the slums were changed to a busy metropolis thriving with people. With the city once again a beacon of hope and a symbol of prosperity it was christened with the new name of New Midgar. Even the area formerly known as sector 7 was rebuilt, along with Seventh Heaven, which was now a memorial, but still a working bar at the same time. This was all due to the help of a new company called Antalis, which helped fund the reconstruction process.
Antalis had come from nowhere, generesly donating over one hundred billion gil to the New Midgar. They instantly became popular with the citizens of Midgar and the world for a matter of fact. They also reverted the plantes energy usage back to old methods, before mako, such as coal and oil.
Seven years later the world finally managed to return back to normal, going about like it had done before the whole meteor incident. That was until one day when giant monsters attacked many cities across the world, including, Wutai, Cosmo Canyon and Midgar. They towered over the cities like gods would over men. Many people compared them to the Weapons which attacked the planet seven years ago, causing much terror and fear across the planet as rumours of another meteor were spread. Overall hundreds of people were killed in these attacks, but thanks to Antalis and Avalanche once again these monsters were defeated, bringing pece to the planet once again and putting Avalanche back into the public eye for their brave deeds.
After the attack the people demanded for an explanation on where these monsters came from. Antalis researched the predicament for many months and eventually came to the conclusion that the build up in energy in the lifestream had caused the creation of these monsters and believed that the destruction of the mako reactors had caused an unbalance in the flow, which helped to create the monsters.
With this news the public demanded that Avalanche be arrested for crimes against the planet, quickly turning on their former hero's and the mako reactors again be set up to counteract the flow of the lifestream. Sure enough the reactors were once again set up by Antalis and Avalanche were arrested by the military, without a fight that was though. It was believed that Cloud, Barret and Vincent, the final three members to escape custody, put up a strong fight in the old church in Sector five, however they wer eventually over powered in the end by the army. According to rumours they were taken to a high priority prison somwhere in the world, however the location is top secret, nobody knows where it is.
For six years the world passed by, as the rumours of Avalanches dissapearence slowly faded away and the citizens of Gaia started to go about their business as they did usually, as if nothing ever happened. However one group of people will never forgive Antalis for what they have done. Across New Midgar there are various graffiti etchings, all saying one clear message for both the people and Antalis, AVALANCHE.
One women who has gone through the highs and the lows has taken up her fathers mantle, once again forming a group of mercenaries to protect the planet from evil and try to rescue the hero's of the forgotten time. Her name is Marlene Wallace, and she is the new leader of Avalanche.
