The CG cutscenes still hold up pretty well, and the only change in them is the Buster Sword design. Otherwise, they’re all the same as the original.

Currently on Chapter 7, and enjoying the game so far.

I can see why people hold Rick Gomez in high regard as Zack, his performance is very charming.
While it does sound like the new actor was directed to copy him for certain lines(probably wasn’t what actually happened but it feels like it). but the new guy isn’t too bad. He’s rough around the edges, but with the right push he could make it his own. Maybe when Rebirth comes out, he’ll be able to spread his wings a bit and give us a unique take on Zack.

Yes the CG were already in the psp version. They used AI algorithms to improve their quality and sometimes it shows but overall, they did a pretty good job.
So you haven't played the original right? The gameplay got a major update and feels incredibly dynamic.

Yes, it’s my first time playing CC! To be honest, in 2016 FFXV was my first Final Fantasy ever. So I haven’t experienced many games before but for the last 6 years I have been following the franchise. Still have to play FFX.

What I also really like about the CG cutscenes in CC is that they are reminding me of the KH2 CG cutscenes. It has got a nostalgic feeling, although I haven’t played the original CC. :)

The English VA sounds a bit off, tho. Generally I prefer the English VA but idk the CC one doesn’t convince me at all. The Japanese VA is really good as always. I’m still sad that there isn’t a German version, as the voice acting in FF7R was top notch.

There is a theory that Sonom from Intermission is gonna be one of the Tsievets.

For sure this isn't the last time we see Sonon. Genesis is probably going to be one of them as well. I am curious to see how this plotline will happen and whether Dirge of Cerberus will be retold through the remakes.

I feel like Vincent would get the DLC treatment like Yuffie did. I'm not sure the events of Advent Children or Dirge would be tackled in the remake. They are set after 7 so it's best to leave it for after the remake. But the Tseviets and Kadaj's gang are fair game. Especially after Weiss pops up in Yuffie's DLC.

So I'd say it's more likely they would pop up in a new role than recreating those stories completely.

Of the two sets, the Tseviets are easier to bring over because they are a group of rejected Soldiers. So it's easier to figure what they do in FF7's story. In fact them popping up in a true Crisis Core or Before Crisis remake would've been perfect.

I'd probably fold Kadaj and his brother's into the Sephiroth Clone aspect or make them Tseviets. But the latter is more of a departure than the former.

Kadaj and his brothers could just be humans infected with Sephiroth's cells. Like Lazard their appearance changes to match the donor/host but they keep a stronger form of self. So their new personality is a mix of the original and themselves.

I agree. We could see Kadaj and the others as ennemies on our way to sephiroth in rebirth.
As for Deepground, there is no doubt, we are going to visit it at some point, which is awesome considering it was a very nice setup in Dirge of Cerberus.

A few days ago I finished CC. I really liked the game. The combat is really fun, the soundtrack was really good, I liked the maps or the world in general. And I have to admit that I really liked how small the maps were in the game. I wanted to experience the story and didn’t really care about exploration. Nowadays nearly every big game tends to have a massive open world. But sometimes I don’t want to dive in a large world, sometimes I want to experience quickly a story. However, the environment was still very appealing.

The story was phenomenal. I love Zack. He’s probably going to be my favorite character in the FF7 universe. I’m really looking forward to how they are going to use him in Rebirth.

To be honest, I don’t have any kind of negative criticism about the game except for Sephiroth’s hair which was terrible.

And it's funny if you think about it: Crisis Core feels more open than FF7remake despite the maps being smaller. You can always come back in every section of Midgard (until the point of no return).

I feel like bringing Zack back is them setting up for a confrontation between him and Cloud.

Tyler hoechlin's portrayal of Sephiroth is growing on me.
