Sora waking up in Shibuya in the secret ending (as well as riku's part) hasn't really been explained at all, but its obviously supposed to be a parallel to when neku woke up in Shibuya in twewy. Nomura seemed to really want to push this idea of sora being in shibuya with the re:mind yozora fight too, since it takes place in that shibuya/vs 13/verum rex world. He also said in an interview that the twewy characters wouldn't appear in kh3 (which they didn't) but shibuya appearing makes me think that there's a chance for them to still appear in a later title.

With twewy becoming relevant again because of the anime, I feel like he's gonna try to stick them in again, and it obviously won't be hard bc of all the worldline lore for BOTH games. The twewy characters could easily be explained by it just being an alternate universe version of them so it doesn't mess with the canon twewy events, and shibuya.. will i guess be explained somehow, maybe another world in the realm of light/an in-between world like twilight town? I think it would be cool to see the twewy characters again and maybe even see some characters that weren't in DDD (like hanekoma and sho), but it seems Shibuya is Nomura's main focus right now, so what do you think Nomura's plan is with Sora's Shibuya and how far do you think it will spread to other titles or stay relevant altogether?

For now I think Shibuya will act as a hub world(like Traverse Town or Radiant Garden) while Sora plays the Reaper's Game. After that I dont see why it couldn't make future appearances.

As shown by the picture in my signature I want the TWEWY cast to come back again as well. Along with other characters such as Megumi Kitanji

Personally, I think that TWEWY is getting blown way out of proportion. Considering Nomura is the King of Missed Opportunities, it's entirely possible that we'll never see that Shibuya crew again.

I think if Sora was in that Shibuya and playing the game that they'd show the timer on his palm in the Secret Ending. I think that conspicuous shot of his empty palm was to hint that he wasn't going to do that.

Yeah, I was going to say, the more I think about it, the less I think we'll get to see anything TWEWY in future KH.

EDIT: Wait, no, there is one thing that makes me hope that we will see TWEWY stuff. Hang on, grabbing the pic...

If Hanekoma's not in either one of those coffee shops I don't understand...

(These are out of bounds Shibuya screenshots.)

I can see Hanekoma having a shop in Yozora's world or whatever Shibuya Sora is in (which isn't Neku's Shibuya) and having a role similar to Cid's in KH1. And maybe his shop connects to Neku's Shibuya, because, you know...

Prior to ReMind, I felt somewhat secure in believing Nomura was trying to implement elements of TWEWY into KH. The timing with KH3’s ending and TWEWY Final Remix’s ending was too coincidental.

Now, though? Nah. Nomura’s just doing what his heart tells him.

I still have some faith in Sora playing the Reaper's Game after Yozora's comments about "going through some trials" after ending up in Shibuya. He may have to experience those trials himself to get his second chance at life back

I don't know enough about Shibuya or TWEWY to even speculate on what is going on. All I know is I would love to see Rhyme again. You don't introduce a cute character like that and then never see her again. Bring back Rhyme!

The Shibuya from the ending IS the one from TWEWY. Out of bound exploration of the location of Yozora's fight has show that there are places there that match.

However, I don't think the franchise will be any more relevant going forward aside from working similarly to how the Final Fantasy cast worked in past games. I think it's a mix between wanting to explore more real world stuff as well as free promo for another successful, yet criminally underrated Squênix game that has become relevant again.

Care to throw an example? Because that's a pretty unsubstantiated claim on its own.

I’m going to throw a bone and help Noivern with this one. The Ultimania never really outright said that it wasn’t the same world, only that their promise wasn’t directly connected to the secret ending. At this point, with Sora just turning the corner, he could meet Neku, or even better, Hype-chan.

Just because Sora is in Shibuya now doesn’t mean he’s automatically a player for the Reaper’s Game or has to adjust to the rules beyond preserving the World Order, only that he’s in Shibuya, that’s it.

Wouldnt the fact that KH3's Shibuya has the same 104 building as TWEWY be a big clue they are one in the same?

That was what I was going to point out. I'm not a specialist in Shibuya (the location), but I remember when the ending game out it was pointed out that it featured places that were featured in TWEWY's specific version of Shibuya. I do apologize if that is not the case, though.

Been there irl, Hachiko’s statue was smaller than I expected. Shibuya Hikarie was cool but a bit tiring to be in. Fun place though, great shopping, not as good as Ginza but great when you’re slumming it or looking for athleisure, though I’m more of a casual shorts-polo shirt person.

At this point I’m not even sure it’s apt to call the world Shibuya, since Shinjuku and the Tocho is there, but it’s what we got, so…

Given how obviously TWEWY-inspired the Shibuya we see is and yet how a direct connection is being witheld just out of reach, we're probably supposed to be arguing over it like this.

I'll just say "more involvement". I don't know how much more, but I'm sure any attempt to explore Shibuya in more detail will lead to even more allusions and similarities, at the least.

Shinjuku is also relevant, and it's referenced in TWEWY Final Remix. The TWEWY Final Remix content is a whole set of theory-bait teasing on its own, even without factoring in KH.

E: You know, that Bow Miaou shop is an obvious reference to Meow Wow and thus yet another connection to DDD and thus TWEWY. Man.

E2: Now I'm watching those OOB vids myself for the first time and here's another blatant TWEWY-inspired bit.

I don't think it's that inspired?

The World Ends With You is Highly Stylized with a limited color palette and angular geometry. Kingdom Hearts generally does a good job of adhering to the aesthetic of source materials and that fact that Sora is more realistic in the Shibuya of the secret ending and episode tells me that if you're taking TWEWY from that sequence, you're taking the wrong thing.

I'm also certain that Yozora's ilk are native to that world. (I didn't say Yozora himself because he's body-squatting, but whoever he's in may be a native)

Shinjuku's metro building is the same as Noctis's palace, the Vs. XIII imagery is most apparent. The 104 is there to let us know that it's not the REAL Shibuya, not that it's necessarily the Shibuya from the U.G. Not to mention the "incident" at Shinjuku makes me think they're not the same imagining of that world, but it would be easy enough to link them, if that's Nomura's intention.

I think you're counting your chickens.

It's preposterous to think that anyone would choose the TWEWY version of the 109 building and think, "this won't make people think of TWEWY or anything" though. Nomura obviously knows that people would think of it and thus why there are more references in the environment and framing. It's not the MAIN component here for sure, but it's not like it's some complete accident that there just happen to be multiple TWEWY references associated with it.

Agreed. It's easy to choose another number, say, 108, 107, whatever, but the fact that it was intentionally done as 104 in the same way TWEWY presented the 109 mall shows a connection, however indirect it may be. As I said in another post, this is the first SE world we've had, out of technicality. I'm looking forward to it.

Personally I'm hoping for a decent amount of involvement, I'd absolutely adore a full game of Sora playing the Reaper's game with the TWEWY crew. I just don't care about the Yozora stuff from what we've seen so far, so in true Nomura style it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's Yozora and co's Shibuya and the brief appearance of TWEWY crew in DDD will be all we get. Who knows at this point though, logic would assume the 104 building indicates it's that Shibuya, but like it was said above Nomura is king of missed opportunities.
