As for asking a girl to prom,
It really does depend on the girl and her personal taste
kill her beloved pet and on the casket write "DO YOU WANT TO GO TO THE PROM WITH ME?!"

You could embarrass her and force her to say yes (she would look like a bitch if she didn't) by using the multitude of ways to ask a girl in front of the whole class.

You could write her name and "how about prom" inside a plain, unwrapped shoebox with a sharpie.

Perform a Bollywood Number for her.
All I could say is to ask her flat out. Always worked for me and dances, granted I never went to prom. It's the easiest and highest proven method.
I'm no expert, but I think you should just go on and ask her before some other guy does. The worst she can say is no.

umm well wat i did was i pulled her out from track practice then gave her a customize bear with voice com saying "would you go to prom with me?"
