So, my computer has been being really stupid lately. It only stays on for about 20 - 30 minutes, and then shuts itself off, restarts itself, but repeats the process over and over so that I have to unplug it and then replug it, and then it does it again after about twenty minutes of it being on. Is something wrong with it? (Obviously, yes.) So, what can I do to fix it?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

Is your computer getting really hot? Your parts could be overheating.

Either that, or your power supply is running out of juice, but my guess is it's overheating.

did you try scanning for a virus?

Yes. It said there was no virus, but I'm not sure. I don't think it's related to the problem I was having with KHI a few days ago what with the pop ups and what-not I kept getting from here, but I think it is connected. Or not.

Nah. Only after a bunch of hours. But not after a few minutes.

How do I know if it's the power supply, since I doubt it's overheating.

Also, a thing pops up saying "Windows must now restart because the DCOM server Process launches terminated."

My computer used to do something like that alot, it turned out to be a hardware problem. :)

Take it to a PC repair place and get them to have a look at it if you can.

My computer has done some stupid things, but nothing like this. If I were you, I would take your comp. to a place specializing in hardware and computer viruses.

Take out the parts, buy new parts, swap over, place new heat sinkers.

Since the alternative is pretty much to spend a small fortune on a computer repairman.

Otherwise, borrow some parts from a friend and try replacing and checking if it performs better. Try to change the RAM, GFX card, CPU unit and motherboard. One of these has to be the problem. I would say motherboard, though. Once you know what's wrong you can try to fix it.

Plan 2: If you changed everything but it still screws up, open up your computer casing, then blow a fan at the inner parts while you use your computer and see if that helps. (actually, this should be plan 1)

If all these don't work, you'll have no choice but to send it to the computer repairman. Unless you still have warranty left in your computer?

Oh wait, laptop?

Ok, fine, you won't be able to take it apart. Blow a laptop cooler at it and try. Or go and get it repaired by warranty or by sending it to a repair shop.

Sounds like a hardware issue..you might want to take it to a specialist and find out what the problem is before trying anything on it..you don't want to make it worse. ^.^ Hopefully your problem gets fixed ^.^

Well, it's not a laptop just a regular computer. And for some reason it's working fine now. >.> Dunno why. So I'll go ahead and close this unless I have problems again with it.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's doing it again. =/

Ugh, now something else has happened. I did what I quoted above, and after I turned it off and turned it on, now the internet acts sort of weird, there is no sound (seriously) so no music for me, and Microsoft Word processor won't open any more ;-;

Help.
