Not much has happened since KH3D. We found out what Aqua was up to in the Realm of Darkness. I dunno, do you want me to tell you everything including spoilers?

Kingdom Hearts X is a thing. That's where most of the story content is at right now.

Here goes.

Mickey, Riku, Kairi, and Yen Sid are discussing what they will do. YS and Mickey tell them about TAV. YS says they have to somehow save them from their sad end. Mickey then tells them the story of how he met Aqua in the Realm of Darkness:

Turns out Aqua has visited 3 Disney Worlds that fell to Darkness: Castle of Dreams, Dwarf Woodlands, and Enchanted Dominion. The darkness has affected these worlds, so they're not the ones they used to be.

In CoD, Aqua has to gather some gears so she can reverse the time and rebuild a road that had collapsed earlier when the clock stroke midnight. After that, she wishes to really reverse time and to spend one more night with her best friends. the only notable thing that happens is that she "meets" Terra there. Aqua of course starts bombarding him with questions, like "how did you get here", "did you not make it out", and such. Terra doesn't answer and it turns out it was simply a 'reflection', or a phantom.

In DW, she first encounters a sleeping Ventus inside Snow White's coffin. Then she gets sucked into a magical mirror, where she encounters a phantom of herself, who fights her. She's basically Aqua's inner doubts and feelings. She says stuff like "only your heart is hollow enough to be a demon's". After the phantom is defeated, Aqua talks about how she is her own worst enemy, and that her doubts have gained a voice of their own. She feels like the Darkness will take her over in some time.

In ED, she again sees phantoms of both Ventus and Terra, who are just walking around. She catches up and talks to them -- Terra answers, Ven doesn't. His eyes are semi-closed throughout this whole scene. Terra is kind of irritated that Aqua can see him, saying that he's not really himself but instead a picture that her heart is painting. He says that Ven, too, is just an illusion created by her heart.
Terra tells Aqua that Master Xehanort is trying to locate Ventus, which is followed by Terra "transforming" into Terra-Xehanort. Aqua unwillingly tells him where Ven is. Terra and Terranort are then fighting and stuff, with Terra being able to free both himself and Terra and Ven.

Lastly, as Aqua falls deeper into the RoD, saying "now I can be one with darkness", Mickey finds her. They fight against a boss together and talk about things that happened after BBS. Aqua finds out that it's been 10 years since then. She tells Mickey about how she saved Terra from falling to the RoD and that she hid Ven. Mickey tells her that Heartless are attacking the Realm of Light, saying that he wants to lock the door between the RoD and RoL. He's searching for the key.

They then find themselves on Destiny Islands. Aqua tells Mickey about her meeting with Riku and Sora. He tells her that they're the ones who have been helping him. Mickey then deduces that they key to the door has got to be on the island. They find it (it's the counterpart to Sora's Keyblade). After a fight with a "Shadow Wave", they find the Keyblade behind the door in the secret place. Aqua tells him that she wants to be the one who closes the door, with him doing the locking. Mickey says that the job's taken by somebody else.
As they approach the door between the two realms, the Shadow Wave appears again, and Aqua tells Mickey to go without her while she fights it. Mickey refuses, but Aqua gets sucked to Destiny Islands again, away from Mickey and the door.

On DI, she fights the creature and promises to herself and Terra and Ven that she will return. After the fight, Destiny Islands returns to the Realm of Light and Aqua stays in the Realm of Darkness.


Riku complains about wanting to help Aqua, but YS and Mickey say that it wasn't a simple task and stuff. Kairi says that she wants to help. YS tells them that Merlin will train both her and Lea. Then, Riku and Mickey get new clothes from YS and go to the RoD to save Aqua.

As Sora, Donald, and Goofy return, YS tells them that Sora is starting from 0 again. He has lost most of his abilities. SDG then go to the gumi ship and off to Hercules' world, Olympus Coliseum, so that Hercules can help Sora regain his power.

Muke summarized 0.2 - a fragmentary passage. It was about 2 hours long and was more like a glorified demo than an actual new entry (it does a lot of retconning and that's ... debatable). Still worth playing if you get the chance. Back Cover, which is also on the 2.8 remix disc, is a pretty flawed and rather mediocre experience, you can probably find it on Youtube. It's the first part of the Union Cross / Unchained X story told from the view of the foretellers. I'd say if you're not nuts about 0.2's gameplay or want to replay DDD, 2.8 isn't exactly worth full price. I'd suggest to get it when it gets cheaper.
