Ideas for school dance?

So we're having this dance thing sometime in November to raise money for the school district and I decided to join student council cause we have to make this one cool so people actually come.
What's a good theme that everyone will like?
And song ideas?
We're all completely idea-less

Do something simple, it won't be too overwhelming and people can still do what they want.
My prom last year was something like, "White Tie Affair".
It was fun, everyone still wore the colors they wanted.

Ahh, Middle school or High school?

I was part of my middle school's student council and we organized many dances all to fundraise. We did a Haloween, Xmas and Beach Party dance, and many with no theme. Seriously if you just tag the word "dance" onto the flyer, a ton of people will be there. But considering that this is November, a beach theme would be good to contradict the cold weather. And don't worry about song ideas. We always hired a DJ or set up a speaker system with someone's iPod. Just make sure they are the clean versions of the songs. (Teachers frown upon explicit music.)

Anyway maybe um 90's? Get like the real lame songs and fashion sense from there. lol. jk.

DON'T DO IT. My school tried doing that for Turnabout/Sadie Hawkins Dance and only ~100 people went.

There are 2000+people in my school. XD

Superheroes and Supervillains.

We always have a Superhero/Villain-themed day for Spirit Week at our school and almost EVERYONE dresses up as something. I think a dance centered around that would be AWESOME.
