Not sure if it would count, but I would've liked a FFX prequel detailing Braska's journey. There's some stuff that happens that most people don't even know (how his marriage to an Al Bhed made people look down on him, how Yevon was basically against him and when he died they suddenly changed their minds) and of course learning some of Auron's backstory in detail would be great.

And I might wanna see Jecht kill a shoopuf idk

But if it's purely sequels I vote for FFXII, only because Ivalice is so expansive in its world and lore and so much seemed untouched in the original game.

You took the words right out of my mouth. :/ I've been saying this about X for years. I'd really like a journey where we get to see Jecht evolve from the man Tidus knew to the guy that sacrificed himself for the (short-lived) benefit of others. (and yes on the shoopuff thing. Exact same thing came up in the X thread a week or two ago lol)

To me it feels as if there's still so much more they can do with it. We've had several games that take place thousands of years apart with wildly different societies and with several catastrophes inbetween mentioned (RIP moogle race ;~;) A game that details why the other races died out/went away/were lost, or at least one that clearly shows the seeds for these events would be much appreciated. It's pretty unnerving to have them in one game, and then the next is pretty much "all but the humans are gone". Bonus points if the humans where somehow responsible for it.

A FFX prequel would have been great. And like you said, we could have seen Jecht's journey and find out a lot more about him. I would have preferred a FFX prequel over X-3 to be honest

I know this was supposed to be about direct sequels, but I just remembered something else I'd like: a Gilgamesh spin-off that connects his various appearances with each other. I'd die of joy.

As much as I'm a fan of leaving things alone and moving on, I'd absolutely love a sequel to IX. Mostly just to see all of the characters again though.

Are you not happy with the ending where Zidane chases after an enchanted bottle cap?

I firmly believe that there should absolutely be a Final Fantasy X-3.

Wasn't FFX the first FF game to have the honor of receiving a sequel? Sure, it was campy, girly, and sugary-sweet at face-value, but those who played through it know that there is a serious plot in there. I believe it deserves to be the sequel of a game as dark, passionate, and heartfelt as FFX.

It's like this: Spira was suffering for the longest time, then Yuna brought the light for good. Thus, Spira was free to continue the progress natural to sapient society that Sin and Yevon denied. Hence, the glitzy adventures and happy attitudes. It also made the battle system a bigger challenge with Active Time fighting, so no easy patience with strategies like in FFX (mega-easy system, right?), and the dresssphere system was new and fun (fanservice galore, and transformation scene-shortening option). Congratulations to all who completed it 100%!

As for a sequel to that, I would see Squeenix using the small plot wink regarding Spira's technological future with Shinra...

If I could have a direct sequel to any Final Fantasy game it would be VI-2. Some of the characters need development. I would remedy this by utilizing IV-2 (the After Years) formula: episodic releases where you solely play as that character (for example: in Sabin's episode, you solely play as him). Each episode would have its unique battle mechanic by expanding on abilities we used on VI itself (Edgar's tools would consist more than selecting it, I propose we press a set of buttons in order for them to work, or perhaps he would have a singular tool that can do many of the functions the ones in the original game had). And of course, after clearing some mandatory episodes, you would have access to the last episode itself where every story collides.
