Oh... and you lose strength I thought...
guess that explains why i had to use curaga so much.Keep Sacrifice----HP-----MP---- AP----STR----DEF
sword shield------18------2 ------3----- 6--------1
sword staff-------18 -----2-------1----- 6---------2
shield sword------18------2-------3------4--------4
shield staff--------18------2-------1------5--------4
staff sword------ 18------3-------3------3--------3
staff shield--------18------3-------3------5--------1
Sorry if it's messy.

Magic strength is based on the total number of MP you can have. Thus, higher MP = stronger spells. MP is a stat that has no items that can improve it permanently, like Strength, Defence and AP do. Picking the shield and sword leaves you with a starting MP of 2, where the Staff gives MP of 3.
Then, if you get rid of the sword, its 3 MP, 3 AP, 2 Strength and 3 Defence.
If you get rid of the shield, you'll have 3 MP, 3 AP, 4 Strength and 1 Defence.
Good choice. It'll give you better stats, and if you need more attack points, then you can use items and the like.
