Well from what I've seen about Kingdom Hearts, they have done a great job on their story line. It hits almost every archetype through 1, CoM and 2. But it seemed to me that CoM, being a gameboy game, and KH2 were lacking a bit on the story line. I know that they had to take a lot out of KH2 for disk space, but I really thought that the story went more earthly in a way. One of the greatest things about Kingdom Hearts was that it touched the same place that religion does, in fact it greatly reflects the Old Testament ( I don't have enough knowledge of other religions to know if it reflects anything else).

So my question is: Do you think that the future Kingdom Hearts games will go back to touching the place that only religion usually fills?

IMPO, CoM was the best storywise. KH2 was a bit too easy, and the battle system in KH1 was too janky.

Yes, Kingdom Hearts is alegorical, but it doesn't really touch places the bible does. In either case, it's just a game. Why try and make connections to them?

It does touch the places the Bible does. It touches that sense of searching for a Greater Truth that humans desire. I know it's just a game, and I'm not saying it's truth or anything. But if you look up what Archetypes are: Archetypes
Then you look at some stuff in the Bible, you'd realize that the game does hit some of those points. Some basic archetypes are: light, darkness, the mystical weapon, the hero that doesn't exactly want it but is thrust with responsibility to save people. Those are just basic examples.

I thought KH was the best story line. CoM was a great one, I think it could have been better if it allowed more space on the cartridge. But it didn't have as many of those archetypes. The gameplay of KH was not very smooth, but the story itself was very good, atleast the part that was outside the disney worlds stories. I mean the whole heartless seeking KH and them using the villians. That story.

LOL WHUT.

This is how you improve KH:

First take all the dialog, throw it out and flush it down the toilet. Re-write it.
Next, take half of the org members, and turn them into females.
Then, turn KH into more of a parody.
Make Riku female.
Give Larxene and Lexaues more screen time.
Shorten the 3 hour tutorial to 1 hr.
Give Kairi a personality.
In KH2, weave the Disney better into the game.
KH2 Sora? Get rid of him. Turn him back into the adorable thing in KH1.
Kill Haely joel osmant(w/e)
Make KH a little girl.

Oh wait, religion...

...Sure. Sora is already Jesus....

the hero that doesn't exactly want it but is thrust with responsibility to save people
Wait, when did Sora say he didn't want to do this? He looked pretty content with it to me.

I'm not saying that the person isn't content. I'm just saying that person wasn't like, "hey, give me a mystical weapon so I can go save people."

Ok, let me change this. I just used the Bible because it's a great book and is the #1 selling book in America btw. So I'll use another one....Harry Potter. That had some good archetypes in it. Harry Potter also somewhat touched the same way, most good stories do touch the place in humanity that's searching for a greater truth.

No, it was more like "Gee, I wish life wasn't so boring. Oh cool, a mystical weapon to save people, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

With a country full of christians, of COURSE it is. It's not because it's a good book, but because people think they are going to hell if they don't follow it. Genesis and Revelations is the only good part IMO. The rest is just filler until you get to Mathew.

That had some good archetypes in it. Harry Potter also somewhat touched the same way, most good stories do touch the place in humanity that's searching for a greater truth.

This is true, and I see what you're saying now.
So what is there to discuss? Which character fits which archtype? = 3 =

The thing I hate about the story line of Kingdom Hearts 2 was that Kairi was useless (you think it would of been cool to play as her and kick heartless ass, there were only men in the Organization except for Larxene and possibly the XIVth Member not to mention I think they were introduced to please yaoi fangirls, and the dialog, it is too corny, get a better writing staff if you must I don't care, just fix the damn dialog, this implies to Kingdom Hearts as well.

And what exactly was he referring to? What happened during that scene?

She was always useless.

just fix the damn dialog,
I wonder if the dialog was the same in Jap...
I honestly doubt it.

Add another Keyblade Wielder from the DI and SRK and that KW are forced to work together, adding some grating between the characters that contrasts well, and make Kairi have an actual personality, make Riku more playable, and a Co-Op mode

I wish that they would reredesign some of the the Final Fantasy characters, I mean YRP as fairies? I wish that they get them more involved in the story instead of just give giving us fanservice like the Cloud vs.Sephiroth fight.

For a storyline, I'd like to see some stuff Riku was doing while everybody else was off being crazy. Also Mickey since he and Riku sorta popped out of random places and then leave on and off until they come back at the end being all "Whzuuuuup?" not even telling a whole lot of what they were doing.

I don't see that at all. To me i always saw it from a sense similar to say Majoras Mask from the Zelda series. Searching for good friends when there is little hope they can be found. I like the story of kingdom hearts 2 because just when randomly looking for Riku & Kairi and losing hope of ever finding them, they actually finish that. Thats where the majority of the emotion comes from in my opinion, besides fighting alongside characters from my childhood. Kingdom Hearts one sets the story in that direction, CoM adds many twists to the plot and tickles your emotions of not being able to find Kairi or Riku by putting Riku very close to Sora and then finally coming into contact with him on good terms but happened to be while Sora was asleep.

As for Kairi being useless, she isn't a very developed character thats for sure, but she does have alot of impact towards other characters. In fact, she is where most of the emotion of looking for Soras frieds comes from.

In KH1 that is.

Half of CoM and pretty much all of KH2 was about finding Riku.

Half of CoM and pretty much all of KH2 was about finding Riku.

Only because he knew Kairi was safe back at Destiny Islands.
But Riku. he had no idea where he was, or how he was.

I know id be more worried about my missing friend, than the one that's safe at home.
