Chapter Thirty Eight: A Not So Tainted Heart
As Kagome and Noelle attempted to tend to Inuyasha and Riku's wounds Aroz dragged up a still out cold Demyx. Attempted...Riku wasnt putting up a fight but Inuyasha well....the doggie doesnt like the vet. "You need medical treatment!" Kagome shouted. Inuyasha went in to her face and said, "I tell ya I dont need it!" Kagome shook her medical box in frustration, "Yes you do you rabid animal!" "Whats THAT supposed to mean!?" He roared. Kairi whispered to Sango, "Are they always like this?" She nodded and said, "It shows that they're normal." She still had not forgiven Miroku for fondling her when she was knocked out. Shippo was handing Noelle bandages. Noelle was wrapping bandages on Riku's back. Her own hands were bandaged tightly as well. Riku sat and waited patiently his aquatic eyes showing the pain he was in but hte rest of his face was blank. "Done." Noelle said finishing the last bandage. Riku didnt say anything. She crawled in front of him. He was looking down. "Riku? Wha-?" He reached out and grabbed her. "Nya? Wha-?" He cut her off, "I thought I'd never hear your voice again...I thought I'd lost you." He said whileholding her. She blinked in confusion for a moment then smiled softly, "Riku? You may not be a phantom theif or a demon but I can see Dark's wings on you too..." She whispered. Kairi smiled happily at her sister and friend but Inuyasha and Kagome were still fighting, "I siad take it off! You need first aid!" She said yanking at his fire-rat robe." Inuyasha tried to shove her off but was too weary, "And what if I dont wanna!" Sango and Miroku sweatdropped.. Eventually Kagome was in tears, "I'm not going to lose you after all this just because you wouldnt take medicine!" Inuyasha was silenced by her tears. His mouth was open in utter shock, "You dont need to cry about it!" He said frantically. He eventually let Kagome work on his wounds but muttered ocasionally. Rin came running and almost tackled Noelle in a hug, "Nice to see you too Rin. oww." She said while rubbing her back. "You and Lord Sesshoumaru saved me!" She said and she sat in Noelle's lap. Noelle smiled and made sure she too was okay. Sesshoumaru came walking along with Jaken who was chasing after Rin, "You brazen child! How dare you run over here with out telling Lord Sesshoumaru!" "SHut up ya gnome. Shes with me." Noelle said irritably. Jaken raged, "GNOME!?! How dare you-you filthy human." He bonked her on the head with the staff. "Ok now I'm pissed." SHe said clencing her fist. Her eyes turned yellow and sevral heratless swarmed around Jaken, "AUGH! LORD SESSHOUMARU!" He ran twoards Sesshy. Noelle and Rin laughed. Even Seshy gave a rare smile. People were laughing and happy again. Aroz plopped down beside Kairi, "*Yawn*" "Tired?" She asked. "Well its not everyday one fights a insane water controller, and three headed water beast." He rubeed the back of his neck in a very Sora-like way. She stared at him and then looked away, "Sora. How is he doing?" SHe wondered. She held his necklace and hoped he was ll right. Demyx was coming around, "Well, well, well. Somebodys up." Miroku said. Kaze looked at Demyx, "Is she all right?" He demmanded. Demyx took a couple seconds to understand and then turned away, "Shes not. And she'll never be now." He said. "What do you mean?" Kaze said. "Now that I have failed in killing you she will kill Namine." He said. "Who will?" Kagome asked. "The Superior, Shima." "Oh yeah? Well thats too bad." Inuyasha scoffed. Demyx looked up, "I'm sorry. I didnt want to hurt you but she would have killed my sister if I didnt." It was then they realized that Demyx's heart wasnt so cruel and evil. It seemed someone beside Cloud had been associated with darkness and yet was not tainted by it. As wary as they were to forgive they did anyway. "Please save my sister." he begged of them. "DOnt worry. We'll try our best." Noelle said. Demyx stood. "I shall remain in hiding to convince SHima I died in battle. Kaze, take care of her." e said. Demyx dissolved in to the water. A peice of paper fell on to the ground. Kairi kneeled down and picked it up, "Look! Its the other half to the Fallen ANgel's Scroll!" SHe read it aloud,
"Soul and heart both needed to stay alive,
Neither can be deprived.
To bring the fallen angel back,
The one he saved's heart must be tainted black.
To sacrifice oneself for love,
The counter is the same."
"What does that mean?" Noelle asked. Kairi shrugged. "I dont understand it either." SHe picked up a disk. "This'll show us where to find him!" She said happily. As they walked back to the gummi ship everyone was exhausted. Kagome had hitched a ride on Keylala because Inuyasha's back was still injured. Noelle walked beside the two brothers, "I'm sorry I forgot you." Inuyasha said turning twoards her. She smiled, "Its okay. I knew it couldnt be you. Someone else had altered your memory. Dont feel bad." He smiled a little. "Inuyasha...do you still want to become a full demon?" She asked sadly. He put a hand on her shoulder, "I'm not too sure. Dont worry about me." She looked up at him, "How can I help it? Friends have to worry about eachother." He seemed for once to agree. Over on Kikino Kairi said to Miroku, "Gee Inuyasha gets along with Noelle but he and Kagome always fight." "They fight all the time because it shows that they really care for eachother. Both of them hide their true feelings. In reality they both lo-!" Kagome had hit him on the head, "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!" But her cheeks betrayed her and they were bright red. Kairi laughed. It was true. If two people fight it shows they care. Sora and Riku fought all the time because they both worried and cared for eachother. "Friendship is strange isnt it?" Aroz said. SHe nodded happily. "So, its been a long time since I've last seen you hasnt it?" Noelle asked her childhood friend. He nodded, "Fifty years." She spazzed, "WHAAAAAAAT!? But I'm not a prune!" SHe grabbe dher face. Riku and Inuyasha laughed, "You live in a different time. So it hasnt been fity years for you." Inuasha said. SHe sighed in relief, "Good. I didnt want to join the wrinkly leigon of the old people." The rest of the night passed quickly. Kairi was dozing on Aroz's shoulder, Noelle was curled up next to Riku, Kagome sat next to Inu, and yes Sango even sat next to Miroku. Kagome shivered a bit and sneezed, "You caught a cold didnt you?" Inuyasha said as he rolled his eyes. She nodded and coughed. He put a hand on her head, "You dont have a fever." He put his hand to his own head. He put his robe on her shoulders, "Thanks for caring." She said.He put an arm on her shoulders to keep her warm. Keylala and Kikino were curled near the fire. Shippo was sound asleep. Rin was asleep in Sehssoumaru's lap. "Isnt it late?" He asked. Several yawns answered him. "Time to hit the hay." Riku yawned. "What hay? DOnald? DId we get a horse?" oofy asked. Donald too tired to scold Goofy just said, "No you nitwit." (They had a long day defending the gummi ship from demons) "I'll get the sleeping bags."Riku siad. "Sleeping whats?" Miroku commented. "Youre lucky youll be the only people in this age to live to see one." Kairi said as she awoke. "Cant believe theres so much you guys dont have." Aroz said, "Well we have the beauty of nature, traditions, and heritage." Sango began. "Yeah, but Id trade that all for indoor plumbing." Noelle said heading for the gummi ship. Minutes later everyone was curled inside a sleeping bag....everyone except Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru simply refused to sleep in anything made by humans and put Rin in his. He prefered to sleep on his giant fluffy thing. Inuyasha had attempted to sleep in it. But being part dog he tore the poor bag to shreds. "That was money well spent." RIku muttered to himself.....
