The frame rate did drop very slightly once the 3D effect was turned on but it was still very playable.
I am a bit wary of this. Hopefully it doesn't affect the game play too badly.

The 3DS has framerate dips on most titles with full 3D.

I was going to mention this a day ago but I had a friend over.

Nice to see it there though.

Kingdom hearts always had framerate problems. Where have you been?

There wasn't a game where gameplay didn't slow down. I've have experienced it in Kh1, Com, Re:Com, Kh2, BBS, and 358/2 days

True, but ultimately it is the developers decision to have the game running at 30fps with full 3D or 60fps with 3D disabled. Now this is what you proved to me in that Dead or Alive video. However, games like Mario Kart 7 do run at 60fps with full 3D or not so it really depends on the company's choice when developing the game.

This was what I was originally getting at. If today's Kingdom Hearts games are known for having frame rate issues without having a 3D effect, then what makes the author so sure that it's the 3D effect causing the frame rate issues. He states:

The frame rate did drop very slightly once the 3D effect was turned on but it was still very playable.
I believe that it would almost be impossible to identify the real cause of the frame rate issues, but both might be there.

Well yeah, but that doesn't sweep the problem under the rug.

I think you're exaggerating it. In my experience, it's just Birth by Sleep but that's only if you didn't bother to change the configuration to 333mhz and Data Installations.

From those who have the games, do you think the frame rate drops are bad enough to dissuade full 3D use during hectic gameplay? The past frame drops in other games were nothing terrible, so I'm assuming it is something along the lines of those drops?

From what I've seen the framerate drops are noticeable, but negligible.

A niggling issue for some people though.

Unfortunate, but not quite surprising. Didn't Nomura say it might be better only to use the 3D function during cutscenes rather than actual gameplay, anyway?

That was due to it possibly hurting the players eyes I think; however, that is more of a personal preference than an actual necessity. There are a bunch of people who claim that the 3D hurts their eyes in any game, but for me personally it does not affect me at all :p

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. :) It hasn't bothered me yet, either, but I can understand that. Although those people who do have trouble with it probably won't have a need to worry about the framerate drop when you turn on the 3D, so there's a bit of a silver lining! ;D
