Jonathan Stall sat alone on the deserted bus stop, watching as what few cars there were sped by. He was wearing one ear piece of his iPod on, his other ear free to hear any signs of a bus nearby. The sun was blazing on his head and there wasn't a cloud in sight. "Damn it's hot", he whispered to himself as he tilted his head back into the shade of a nearby tree. He shot up the volume of his music and closed his eyes. Just a little while I suppose, it can't be too long. He relaxed there for a bit and started to doze off.
Something brushed against his leg and he woke up with a start. "W-what?" he said with a start. It was a black, stray dog that was sniffing at his shoe. "Shoo, get lost you mutt", he said as he lightly kicked the dog away. How long have I been out? It's still not here? It suddenly hit him that maybe all of this was a joke, organized by the administrator for kicks. He got up to leave, sighing at the thought of his wasted time. As he turned around to walk back home he was startled by the sound of a dog barking behind me. Ugh, can't that thing just shut up and leave me alone. He continued on walking, ignoring the dog and dragging his feat as he went. The dog persisted on barking and he tried his best to ignore it. When he couldn't stand it any further his body whipped around. "JUST SHUT U---", he froze, staring at the sight that lay before him. The dog wasn't barking at him, it was barking at an old bus down the street heading towards him. He made his way back to the bus stop just as the vehicle came screeching to a stop before him.
The doors of the aging old school bus creaked open. One of the headlights was broken, a window was cracked, and old signs of graffiti could be seen on the side. "Umm, thanks boy", he said as he patted the dogs head and walked inside. As he climbed the steps, he took a moment to scan the area before he sat down. Charming, he thought, this place is worse inside than out. As he approached the seat he decided to sit at, his eyes met with the only other people on the bus. He didn't recognize any faces and he didn't expect to. Finally sitting down and making himself comfortable, his only thought was if they were heading to the same place he was. "Whatever", he said, placing the hood of his jacket over his eyes and putting on both ear pieces of his iPod. "I guess I'm along for the ride", he whispered as he felt the wheels of the bus finally start moving beneath him.
