That confused me. It was weird how throughout the entire story Sora was treated like an unimportant weakling when he was the one doing all the real work and saving everyone else repeatedly. Is he an weak underdog or a golden god? You can't have it be both at the same time.
It doesn't even come off as funny. It just feels mean-spirited.
They were especially obnoxious in this game but I don't think it's just KH3. When I really think about it I never felt like Sora especially liked Goofy and Donald, like he wouldn't actually hangout with them unless weird adventures kept shoving them into his life. Hyuck and Quack might help keep his spirits high like during CoM but he'd still rather hangout with others. People always bring up that Sora didn't think about Kairi during DDD but he didn't think about Donald and Goofy either, the two that he just had several adventures with. We have spent a majority of the series with this trinity. KH1, CoM, KH2, Recoded(it kind of counts), and now KH3 all spend like 90% of the story with them. So you'd think they'd be super close friends at this point but I'm just not feeling it. If anything I feel bad for Sora because he's stuck with them as his shadow when he'd rather spend time with his keyblade wielding pals and Namine.

In a new DLC we are getting to know how Xion was revived and how she joined the True Organization. Maybe this confirms Xion as a new playable character?

He had a heart he just didn't feel any emotion, he was dead inside and has been dead inside for a long time. His complete lack of empathy is what kept him going, he was always so single mindedly focused on his goals that it consumed his ability to think about anything else. What happens in KH3 is Xemnas reaches the point where he no longer has anything. His goals are now about to be completed but he isn't the one who will get to benefit, all he gets to do is forget he ever achieved them and then die in the past trying to do a plan he knows will fail to achieve a goal he already achieved. It puts into perspective empty how his life is, how there no purpose left for him now or frankly ever. His life is one big failure and one long series of repeated losses, "bested yet again" , is how he sadly put it. When you reach the end all there is left is reflection and in that reflection Xemnas finally was able to feel something, but that something was just a crushing loneliness. No one likes him, no one cares about him, he had all kinds of allies and friends and he treated all of them as disposable tools instead of legitimate comrade. So all he feels is loneliness, an emptiness he knows he will never get the chance to fill because any revelations he has here are to be wiped away. He is going to die feeling utterly alone and that is what causes him to finally feel an emotion.
