Kills me that a week from now I still won't know what the hell anyone is talking about. Argh, this wait.
Spoiler ShowWhat happens is that the GoL show up at the Keyblade Graveyard and Terranort's there, with Terra's regular appearance. Ven runs up to him, Aqua runs after Ven to stop him. Implication is that she never bothered to tell Ven what happened to Terra prior to heading into the big battle because apparently it's not need-to-know information. Anyway, Terranort reveals himself and strikes Ven, Aqua gasps a bunch but does nothing, everyone stands around doing nothing while Terra attacks various characters. Eventually Donald decides to be useful and fries him with flare magic, but then the Demon Tide shows up and the GoL go back to doing nothing while they get swept away one by one until it's just Sora and Riku left. Riku dies protecting Sora, Sora dies because he gave up ten seconds into the fight and was literally just sitting there.
Cut to chess between Eraqus and YX. YX checkmates Eraqus, Eraqus says he still has a move left, moves Sora's piece back to his side of the board, and a bunch of pieces with the same star symbol (probably the Foretellers) appear. Eraqus says, "Some light comes from the past."
Sora wakes up in the Sky/Cloud themed world, revealed to be "The Final World" and is told by Chirithy that he has to piece himself back together because he got blown to smithereens by the darkness. Presumably he also pieces everyone else back together in the process, because the next video posted shows Sora reuniting with Kairi in some dark vacuum and they fly away together. Kairi tells Sora, "The rest are up ahead." They arrive back at the Keyblade Graveyard and all the dead GoL are alive again. The scene with Terranort plays out exactly the same as before except before he can strike Ven, Lingering Will jumps in and blocks him. Lingering Will speaks with Terra's voice saying he's "waited for this moment." The two of them fight while the other Guardians continue doing nothing, just like before, so I guess the only way they could have won in this scenario is with LW there to save them. Why he didn't show up the first time is anyone's guess.
Anyway I'm not sure what happens to LW and Terranort after that (I think they go to finish their fight offscreen), but eventually the demon tides show up like before. The GoL are still useless so Sora decides to take on the whole swarm himself and as he's about to jump in a white light appears and Ephemer's inside of it. Ephemer asks if Sora needs some help and then all the Keyblades from the Graveyard start flying around. Sora hitches a ride on one of them and the names of all the people who won the Union X contest appear on the screen. Pressing triangle causes the Keyblades to attack with Sora and take out the swarm. The other GoL do nothing.
After that it seems like things are going good but OOPS Riku SoD shows up. It's confirmed that this is evil KH1 Riku, Xigbar's also there and he says some stuff then goes away. KH1 Riku summons a massive shadow that looks like Master Xehanort (the one seen in the Final Battle trailer) but it ultimately just becomes another swarm of Shadows. More Demon Tides show up. GoL do nothing. Mickey considers using time magic to give them a chance to escape but Riku tells him to save his strength. Yen Sid drops down from the heavens and uses his magic to open a pathway for them. Donald and Goofy say they'll stay behind to back up Yen Sid. The GoL go on to the next stage.
It's actually even worse than it sounds, imo. Like the specifics of how things are framed and play out is pretty ridiculous. The part with the Keyblades and the Ux stuff is OK, they make it seem like a big deal but then everything just resets to "the heroes are in danger! in the exact same way they were before!" so I don't really see the point of it.
Spoiler Show
Oh dear moneypenny, the whole "communication is for losers"-issue comes up again big time, huh?
So everyone except Donald is indeed useless and has paralyzed gaping syndrome? Way to take the thrill and awe out of everything *facepalms*
So the 13 SoD show up each individually or what? First Terra-Xehanort, then Riku SoD with Xigbar being the friendly neighbourhood moderator?
This sounds all rather fishy and weird, but the GoL except Sora (and Donald in one instance) being completely useless is the biggest bullcrap about the whole thing. Now I truly understand what the first leaker meant with a "meh" part.
So Ephemer just pops up for a minute to activate an ability?
Lame, there should be at least some interaction between him, Ven and possibly Marluxia.
Going by the whole setup of repeating things I would guess that the audience is experiencing the whole "no matter how often defeated Ansem SoD always comes back"-issue Nomura talked about in the DDD Ultimania, only this time around with the "heroes" who apparently ceased to be heroes.
Spoiler ShowStill watching the videos, but it turns out it was actually Repliku pretending to be Riku-Ansem.... For some reason. And his moveset is a combination of the one he had in chain of memories, and some moves copy and pasted from Anti black coat nightmare. But it turns out to be another (fake?) Repliku, and the real one shows up (he was apparently inside the real Riku's body this whole time) and sacrifices himself by ripping the bad Repliku out of his body, and leaving the vessel for Namine.
I swear i'm not making this up. And I don't know how to respond to this
Spoiler ShowRepliku giving up his chance to be whole to save Naminé was weirdly cute.
And of course Kairi got kidnapped again. Just wouldn't be a Kingdom Hearts game otherwise.
Also did it get hinted that Larxene's in love with Marluxia, or did I just understand that scene wrong?
I'm guessing the "she" Saix talks about is the same "she" Ansem SoD wanted information on? My best guess is Skuld, but I genuinely have no idea.
There's no body so I don't buy it, but yeah that was my reaction, as well. I think it's a bait and switch and we're just supposed to believe the heroes are gullible enough to go for it.Spoiler ShowDid Xigbar just kill himself?
With regards to the communication issues, there's a scene earlier where Aqua goes to wake up Ven and keeps asking where his heart is. Sora, Donald and Goofy had all previously been told directly by Vanitas that Ven's heart is inside Sora, and none of them say anything to assuage her fears lol. They literally just stand there and let her freak out. *shrug*Spoiler Show

Lol, same. You really can't make this shit up. The spirit of Riku Replica flies away with another Riku Replica in his arms, basically telling Real Riku to take care of Namine. KH3.Spoiler ShowI swear i'm not making this up. And I don't know how to respond to this
It really is.What a clusterdiddly.

So the SoDs are fought in triads from what I can tell, after the GoL escape using the path Yen Sid provided. Larxene, Marluxia and Luxord (with Xemnas as a spectator for part of the fight) all fight together, with Mickey as your ally. Mickey getting trapped by Luxord's cards was a red herring, he's fine at the end of the battle. All three of them die but seem to be slightly "redeemed," like Sora straight up asks Luxord to play cards with him again some time, he tries to comfort Larxene by telling her she's going to be recompleted, and Marluxia implies that he had lost his memories of who he was (he says, "it's all coming back to me now") and actually thanks Sora for helping to put him back together. It's interesting I guess, but also, retconning the baddies pretty hard now, ha.
Ansem SoD, Xigbar and bad!Riku fight together. Ansem ditches partway through the fight, bad!Riku is revealed to be a replica in the weirdest possible fashion (see Twilight Lumiair's post) and Xigbar jumps off a ledge after whining that he definitely deserves a Keyblade. We see his laser guns fading away but nothing of his actual fate afterwards.

Spoiler ShowOkay. As upset as I am that he doesn't do more, Roxas just became a litteral God sent from heaven (actually decending from the sky like some kind of angel). OMG, Xemnas was so shook! He arrives just as Xemnas was going to kill Xion, who turns on him REAL QUICK. And also, Xemnas somehow destroyed Lea's Keyblade, so he was defenseless. Roxas explains (while Xemnas is still stunned in awe) that apparently his return was thanks to the organization "keeping other replicas for every organization member" (no idea what this was supposed to mean), and that he owed his return to many. Xemnas list off AtW and Zexion, and Roxas says there's more to thank (including Sora, who subconsciously guided Roxas to his body and then to the battlefield). Xemnas, still rattled and officially done with Roxas' crap snatches up Kairi in spite, claiming they already had enough lights now anyway (specifically since Roxas, Xion, and Terra all supported them now). Sora, Roxas, and Xion then proceed to fight Isa to the death, and even though he's a party member, Roxas annihilates Isa! First, his attacks did more damge, more often, then Sora and especially Xion, he couldn't be damaged, and kept unleashing the god lasers from the heavens. All while mocking Siax and cassually dodging by turning into an actual burst of light. Not to mention the voice acting was next level!
Well, this just turned out to be a lot of gushing, lol. There was so much stuff that I missed when I was recapping (grant it, I didn't understand a lot of it), so thank you Alexis for picking up the peices. I'll leave this here anyway though so I can record my first reaction.
Yeah, the scene with the chains is during the face off against Terranort and Vanitas, with Aqua and Ven as party members. I do have to say, I like that we are at least getting a gauntlet where we get to fight with the other GoL, even if the implication is that they can't win without Sora, at least we get to spend some time with them ending their respective arcs. But, OK, here's the thing. Vanitas's ending is fine, he basically decides he's going to be Ven's darkness because it's what he wants, but they don't recomplete or anything. Ven just accepts that Vanitas has chosen his path, Sora protests, but then Vanitas disappears so it's not clear if he's dead or what. Also Sora did see his face and Vanitas just explains it away as him being "Sora's shadow," which, I guess?I see...
...so these are the scenes taking place in the ruins shown in the trailer where Riku and Riku SoD face off with Ansem SoD doing his usual folded arms floating thingy, Mickey gets trapped in cards, Sora & Ven in the dark chains etc.
Oh man, this is a lot to unpack, especially with the multiple dying part and repeating the same shit over again.
As for SDG not telling Aqua about Ven's heart.
Even more *facepalm*.
How stupid can one write a scene? And Ven himself isn't acting up either to signal Aqua "hey I'm right here"?
