Because Mean girls was a popular movie. It they name it from a popular movie, it sells better with that title. If it had a completely different title it barely would sell and disney wouldn't make money off of it.

Okay part of me wants to see this movie and only because I'm a fan of Meaghan Jette Martin, she's another actress I admire aside from Emma Watson.
