I started replaying Dream Drop Distance and realized that Mickey's mission given to him at the end of Melody of Memory by Yen Sid will eventually send him in a time loop. The reason why I say this is because during Dream Drop Distance, Sora meets Mickey when he's a musketeer and training under Yen Sid and Mickey knows that Sora is from another world, and assuming by that by that time period, he had escaped his trip from Daybreak Town after crashing there in KHUX, then ending up in the World of Musketeers, while also losing his powers.

Since Mickey will be traveling through time, especially in the Realm of Dreams, it is possible for him to forget his memories, but finding Sora will still be etched in his heart because he feels like he already knows him during his encounters of Sora in the Dream World. Since he will have to continue forward through time, he will eventually meet the dream version of Yen Sid who will train him on regaining the powers of the keyblade, leading him back to the future throughout the events of BBS, KH1, and all the way back to the Keyblade War in KH3.

We know from the events from Unchained X and Union Cross is that the spirits and nightmares are connected to all the people from Daybreak Town, who essentially are all of the players, and also where the Lost Masters began their missions that played out the events from the Book of Prophecies in KHUX.

Because Mickey ends up in Scala ad Caelum, he needs to find out about the Foretellers in order to complete his part of the mission of saving Sora. While he's there it's possible that in order to "find" Sora, or a version of him that exists, he must also travel through time, which leads him going backward in time and forward with both Donald and Goofy, who may have gotten some information on how to get Mickey into Daybreak Town from Scala as Caelum. This may be Mickey's ultimate test of becoming a True Master of the Keyblade.

Assuming that the Black Box "reveal" would be the data of all the players, including their memories and events that happened in the Realm of Dreams, as well as Mickey himself within that data, Mickey might become stuck in the Realm of Dreams and meeting the wrong versions of Sora within those dreams. Since time would be following differently, it will be possible for Sora to be stuck in the data as well. According to Xemnas in KH3D, "data does not dream," meaning there are living versions of himself in the data, while showing Sora multiple versions of himself trapped there in different times. Even Young Xehanort showed Sora all of the times he's been there living and dying.

If Sora becomes aware of the contents of the box, he's going to want to open it to free all those people, which is what the Master of Masters may want so that he can recreate a new Keyblade War in Quadratum to finally end the war between light and darkness and go back home to his time. In the mean time, Mickey would be stuck in the time loop of going back in time and forward until Sora is able to rescue him from Quadratum. It is also possible that Mickey would find the corridors where the darknesses are trapped and accidentally free them, which may have also been part of the Master of Masters' plan of recreating the Keyblade War in Quadratum in which I made a theory to here.

I figured Mickey was just an illusion like the heartless.
