My first theory post and I'm going after the big one. Here goes... (Caution: BBS Spoilers (though I'm not sure if you have to put spoiler warnings on BBS content anymore... Just in case))
Naminé is...tricky. No denying that. Her entire existence defies all logic. But, basically, I think Naminé is a shard of Kairi's heart in a similar vein to Vanitas being a shard of Ven's heart. Not the exact same, but...similar.... THEORY TIME!
Ok, KHI. Sora stabs himself with the Keyblade to release Kairi's heart. Who's to say he didn't somehow accidently damage her heart in the process? The Keyblade of People's Hearts that Sora used has the power to unlock a person's darkness. Kairi has no darkness. Maybe the Keyblade had a different effect on her heart of pure light and simply tore off a small shard of her heart instead. Not enough to leave Kairi in a coma like Ven when her heart returned to her, but enough to form a person, i.e. Naminé. Ven only had a little bit of darkness in his heart but that was enough to sustain Vanitas. Plus, we don't know a whole lot about Princesses of Light; maybe Kairi's light was so strong that even just a sliver could form a person? I dunno... (Not what you want to say when forming a theory, but...)
Well, we know that Naminé has to be something of Kairi, lest she wouldn't have needed to return to Kairi at the end of KHI. We also know that Kairi's body and soul had nothing to do with the stabbing-process (they were off being comatose a short distance away), so the only thing of Kairi that could have been involved is her heart. Ergo, Naminé must be something to do with Kairi's heart, and the fact she had to be re-absorbed by Kairi in the end leads me to think she is a shard of Kairi's heart. Not enough to make her a stable being by any means (as Ansem kept saying in his Reports), but enough to, y'know, exist.
Now let's look at the similarities/differences between Vanitas and Naminé, shall we? First things first: appearances.
Now, if someone were to ask me whether I thought Vanitas were a creature of light or darkness, I'd be inclined to say darkness. He's a rather 'dark' looking fellow; black suit, black hair, splatters of red... Dark. Now, in stark contrast to Vanitas we have Naminé; blonde hair, white dress, simple attire... She certainly LOOKS 'light', and if Vanitas is any indication, random entities from people's hearts look like the thing they're made of...or something. Basically, my logic is 'Naminé looks like light, THEREFORE Naminé is light. Deal.' And yes, there's more damning evidence to come.
Personality-wise, Vanitas also acts how I imagine someone made of darkness would act like. He's mean, sarcastic, cruel, plain ol' evil... All there. Naminé, again, shows a stark contrast. She's innocent, humble, remorseful, fragile... Yeah. Seems very 'light', to me. Also, Naminé possesses emotions, shown in how she can cry in one scene (after putting Sora in his pod, IIRC). This further proves that she must be something to do with Kairi's heart; the heart is the bit that feels emotions so she can't be a regular Nobody or anything like that. Vanitas proves that even a shard of a heart can feel emotions (the Unversed are, after all, negative emotions that Vanitas felt). So, yeah. Methinks Naminé is a light shard of Kairi's heart.
Well, that's pretty much the 'Pros' portion of my theory sorted. Time for some 'Cons'. Yaaay...
First off, Naminé being born in Castle Oblivion. This is where she and Vanitas completely part ways as when MX extracted Ven's darkness, he physically took Vanitas out of Ven. Naminé, however, was transported to the Realm of In Between. Yeeaahh, I really have no idea. Well, MX was intentionally extracting the darkness out of Ven, which resulted in Vanitas forming right there in the Keyblade Graveyard. Naminé (going by this theory) was kind of just a by-product; Sora didn't intentionally tear a piece off of Kairi's heart, it sorta just...happened. So that's one difference between Vanitas' and Naminé's conception that could have led to the difference in place of birth. Not a good reason, I'll admit, but it's all I got, so...
There's a whole plethora of reasons as to why Naminé was born in Castle Oblivion specifically. Aqua passed the Keyblade-wielding ability down to Kairi, which may have connected them to some extent. Aqua was born in LoD / made CO, which could have conected Kairi to the place, therefore connecting Naminé? When Ven and Kairi were roomies in Sora's heart, they could have connected somehow, or perhaps just Naminé as her shard was leaving Sora's heart. This could have attracted Naminé to Ven's body chillaxin' in CO? But every reason I conceive sounds less and less plausible... Idk.
Moving swiftly on, why did Naminé have power over Sora's memories? ...Yeah, I have no idea. I heard some other people theorising that because both Naminé and Sora's human-form after all the stabbing were made from Kairi's light the two were connected Naminé got her memory-powers over Sora. It could also be that the fact she was born from Sora's body gave her a connection to Sora and let her mould his memories to her liking. Also, weren't the memories she altered always memories of Kairi? Maybe it's not so much control over Sora's memories, but rather control over memories of Kairi. According to this theory, Naminé is a shard of Kairi's heart, which, coincidentally, is where memories are stored, perhaps granting Naminé the ability to morph memories of Kairi. This could explain why she could alter Repliku's memories as well; she was just altering memories of Kairi. *shrugs* I dunno.
WALL OF TEXT. Sorry, hope I didn't blather too much... So, thoughts? Please comment. I promise not to cry if you don't like it. c:
