Hello all.
I'm brand new here, but I've been following the tremendous amount of posts over the last few days regarding the videos from the NA version which have been going up on YouTube. Thanks a lot, Maverick22, for showing us what we have to look forward to in the American version of KHII. Now please, please forgive me if this has already been answered, but I recall there being a post describing some concern about the legal ramifications of posting the intro or ending movies of the game...
Now, I'm no lawyer (though I do currently work for a large software corporation, and wrote game reviews in the past for a website), and I could be completely mistaken, but wouldn't posting spoilers from late in the game, and obviously the end of the game, cause Square more angst than the intro? Now I'm not one of these OMGPOSTTHEINTRO!!!11!!! guys, but I would like to know the reasoning why it's not being loaded (again, forgive me if this has already been answered). I'm fairly sure if there is concern about a video of the opening causing problems, a blank screen with the song playing in the background would probably satisfy all the fans just as much. I wouldn't be surprised if Square's legal department is dense enough to truly believe that most people who have wanted to see the intro haven't already seen it (from the Japanese version) and heard several different versions of Passion, as well.
Is Square worried about losing sales from people hearing Sanctuary? I'd find that thought unusual to say the least.
Mav, I know you're probably a busy guy and you've got a lot more to do than just post videos. Thanks a bunch for revealing lots about the game, and if you can't post the intro for whatever reason, that's your call. Just know that there are a lot of us out there who can't wait to hear what it sounds like in English, and that an official post on the reasoning for why it will/won't be posted would cause a lot of the discussion to stop... so anyways, thanks again Mav. 12 MORE DAYS!

Actually, I was thinking about this earlier today as I was playing the Japanese version of KHII. Hey, wait a minute...wouldn't Square realize most of us have seen this already?! Maybe, but most likely....not. Based on what I've seen and heard, Japanese game companies keep their US branches in the dark far more than they should... the fact Square Enix plans on launching FFXII AFTER the PS3 hits the US is another shining example of that...but that's a whole different can of worms that shouldn't be opened here.
Anyways, back to Sanctuary...unless it's the RIAA protecting Utada's song that's more a concern (riiiiight...I think she'd be more excited about getting US exposure than worried about a few KH fans listening to the song early)...I was just wondering what the deal is.
Anyways, I suppose I should stop talking about the intro. Just something to call attention to, that's all.
Might I add that you mods have done a great job of keeping most of the comments under control since the videos began appearing. I'm actually surprised it hasn't hit mainstream gaming press!

remember sanctuary also has been heard for more then about 30 seconds... i spose S-E would get the shits... but what about hikki? theres a leaked version of her song being leaked because of a S-E game... i dont think hikki will be happy with S-E...

no he has the FULL version (srri if that sounded mean,i'm just a good lil boy) and i'm pretty sure he has the full because i don't really think that he could really get a beta with such accurate translations,except for the DWU's last phrase "you make a good other" it's suppose to be "as expected of my" which i translated from the japanese version.....

by the way, you do realize that if maverick actually owns kh2, then it's his responsibility and business to what he uploads on the internet. It's not square enix's business because if he owns it, it's his property, and can do with it what he will. If they didn't want him to post stuff, they shouldn't have leaked him the game in the first place, so that's their fault. they have no part in the decision maverick makes about his own game

Since reviews are starting to come out, the press probably already has copies of the game.
KHII has to be the fastest localization I've ever seen for an RPG. Honestly, after playing the import version, I didn't see any way they could sync the lips and expressions of the characters, hire talent, and translate/debug/test the entire thing anytime before Q4 '06. Beta versions were probably around as early as the middle of last month...but nobody outside of Square Enix would have access to them.
Based on what I've read, Maverick has a full copy of the game, not a beta, and it was probably one of the ones assigned to be shipped to the press. He didn't give solid details on how he got the game, but he's obviously given enough proof to show that he does indeed have it.
