So after playing this game almost non-stop like a maniac because I am totally addicted to it, I got the first ending, Ending A, after a over 20 hours of playtime. Annnd
And I guess to get answers to those questions I have to complete the other ending this game has. Looking at the trophy list there seems to be a lot. But I am very excited to unravel this stories mysteries. Some thoughts that have popped into my head while I have played. I am not gonna give any sort of final verdict yet, since I feel like I have not seen enough.
This game is a bit unstable from the technical side. Framedrops, stuttering and slow downs happened time to time. They did not kill my enjoyment with the game, but it was a bit of a bummer that they were there. I hope they would manage to fix that somehow.
The surroundings were pretty interesting. I liked the medieval castle in the woods the most. It was such an interesting contrast to have that in a place with skyscrapers and modern creatures like robots and androids. The side quest in the castle involving the finding of the old kings tombs is probably my favorite quest in the game. Or the one about fundung Lunar Tears for Emil.
The combat is pretty addicting. I guess it does not matter too much which weapons you are using, but it was really fun to try out different weapon combos. Just to see how the attack animation look was enough for me to experiment with different weapons. And my god, the movement and attack animations in this game are so sick! You can trust Platinum Games when it comes to this kinda of stuff. Hitting the enemies looks and feels very satisfying, so it`s fun to beat the living hell out of you`r opponents. Overall the gameplay is very tight, well done.
The characters were amazing, at least at to this point that I have witnessed. 9S and 2B dialogue is fun to watch and it was a pleasure to see how they got closer as time went on. 2B started to act more like a person, than the cold killing machine that she was created to be. Also, operator 60 is so nice, my god. And Emil my gosh. I am so glad that I watched a playtough of NieR before starting this game. Emil is a precious dork. It so goofy how he drives around in that small vehicle, while blasting cheerful music.
About the music, as others pointed out it`s freaking gorgeous. The theme that plays in the amusement park has been stuck in my head for a few days now.
One scene I would have altered in the amusement park would have been the roller coaster ride. I would have liked if there was no fighting at all, and 2B and 9S would have just boarded the thing, while contemplating and trying to understand why this was thought to be fun by humans.
