Also, did anyone else notice they kept getting the same messages and treating them like new messages? Was that really happening or was it just me, 'cause I could'a swore they got two of the post-world messages twice?

They weren't shocked over the words of the message. They were shocked that the messages weren't changing and there were still "hurts" to be mended.

I probably have the stupidest nitpick: the fact that when you start up the game (KH2) the selection is on "New game" instead that automatically being on "Continue" (or whatever the menu says in English).

It's worse than when in KH1 you HAD to watch the whole "It is I, Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness" scene after Riku II killed you.
I have a little story about this. The first time I played KH1 I won that battle on my first try, so I didn't really get why people complained so much about that part. Then, when my brother was old enough to get interested in videogames, I replayed the game for him to see and then he played it himself and we both died during that fight. Many, many times... we had reached the point where we had the cutscene perfectly memorized and would re-enact it every time, complete with movements and voice imitation. I'm pretty sure it actually helped make us grow closer. So thank you, Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness.

An incredibly minor one:

I was really happy to see that they gave separate costumes to Sora, Donald and Goofy for Christmas Town in Final Mix... But what I didn't understand is that Donald and Goofy get a complete overhaul for it, but although Sora gets a Santa-like costume, he keeps his dark Halloween Town look.

The story in Coded, in general, is pretty flawed and strange in my opinion. They went through this huge ordeal just to find something out that Mickey should have known from BBS anyway. And while I could maybe understand him forgetting, something much quicker could have made him remember.

Also, the whole thing about sending Data-Sora through Castle Oblivion to "test" whether or not he can handle the truth seemed pointless because at the end of the day, it should have only mattered whether or not the REAL Sora could handle it.

You're misunderstanding quite some things here as nothing that was revealed in Coded could have been known already by Mickey, especially not from BBS since everything that was revealed by Coded's main story was only found out by Naminé (and possibly DiZ) during the time she reconstructed Sora's memories, which happened during Days, nearly 11 years after BBS.

Mickey cannot remember something that he never knew in the first place. The things revealed by Data-Naminé were absolutely new for him.
He and Yen Sid were searching for the whereabouts of the BBS-Trio behind the scenes all time, but as the first secret ending of Coded shows obviously Mickey got his first real clue about Ven's heart from the events that happened in Coded.

It wasn't pointless as Data-Sora and the bio-Sora ("real" is a stupid designation as Data-Sora is also real, he has a heart after all!) are supposed to function nearly the same since Data-Sora is derived from the other one.
Furthermore, Mickey, Donald and Goofy were supposed to give everything they learned in the datascape forth to the other Sora and explain everything to him.
There's nothing confirmed but it is obvious that by the time DDD starts Mickey has not yet done so.
If he has forgotten it or planned to brief Sora after the Mark of Mastery exam is anyone's guess, but he cannot really be blamed for it as no one expected Xehanort to interfere with the exam and use the pain of the tormented ones against Sora in exactly the way Data-Naminé warned against in Coded.

I think seeing coded as being "about" Mickey learning where the Keyblade wielders is, that's a very, very narrow, objective-based way of looking at the game. The past few KH games have had a far more emotional focus, though maybe that's why a lot of people don't like them? (You know, I've wondered that before but it's sad to say out loud). To me the emotional focus has made them some of my favourite parts of the series. Days and coded haven't been so much about advancing the plot as being about human value, and they're pretty good at it.

If you have to look at it from an objective-based perspective, besides what Sephiroth just said, the point of coded is to demonstrate that artificial beings can become equivalent to natural-born beings in the KH universe, and so 1) reinforces the point of Days, 2) contests some faults of KH2, 3) to show Xehanort's horcrux plan is either going to fail or is wiping out human lives and experiences at the core, making him look like the worst villain of all. coded is also there to set up the emotional challenge Sora will face when he finally confronts the other characters. To me, the scene where Sora encounters Xion and Roxas in his dream was one of the most emotional in the series, and it's because of coded's setup.

As to your second paragraph, which is written in an in-universe perspective: I don't think that "they" (meaning Namine and DiZ) intended Data-Sora to even exist. The message was supposed to go to Sora, but some dingus opened someone else's mail and put it into a digitization machine when he wasn't even present - it's not the first response you expect when you send someone a letter. This one's the dev's fault. coded's setup has always been ludicrous, I just happen to like how it turned out, so it doesn't bother me.

To put the thread back on the topic of nitpicks: I prefer the original coded's "hurts" messages over the English. The initial message is okay but the follow-ups are just just trying to hard. Maybe the Japanese version had poetic qualities, but I prefer the to-the-point direct translations: "We must free them from their torment," for example. The short, brief style feels like someone scrawling a message on a wall ala Ratman from Portal. It's appealing where the forced poetry is unappealing.

Oh, here's another nitpick that occurred to me while playing KH2 the other night: why is Draw 3AP in this game? It's not that good. There's minor payoffs with health orbs, but I'm not about to pay 3AP so that I can pick up the 2 or 3 munny I dropped just out of my path. And as a result, outside of Critical's 50 AP, I never use it. Don't even talk to me about the Follow the Wind. I used to think that Draw was expensive because the devs originally planned there to be more orb-based collection challenges, like Struggle or the morale orbs in Land of the Dragons, but it's just as bad in FM+ so now I'm not sure!

Thanks for providing a different way of looking at it!

Okay, I appreciate you bringing up these points. Clearly, I was looking at it from the wrong perspective. (Also, I apologize if this was a deviation from the main thread topic)

Glad if I can be of help in clearing up things. ;)
(Nah, it's ok as in your eyes it was a nitpick, just based on some misunderstanding of the plot. ^__^)

Characters noticing/pointing out things before they appear/show. Of all trivial irks, this one really bothers me a lot.
Same here, they're all physic I guess.
It's most annoying when they scream something like "Look out!", "Oh diddly, it's the nothing!" ... "And look, there's heartless too"

Then we have every world in KH II even if it's sometimes just the first or second visit where they just repeat the movie or don't add anything to the story at all. That's what I loved about the DataScape in that game, it's so directly linked to the story. (Atlantica being the worst, I don't even mind the singing, kinda enjoy it but those cutscenes are just a worse version of the movie)

There's also some aquard dialogue like when Aqua-rd talk to Sora and Riku or to Zach (not the date thing, that was awesome) or when she "can't help it" and start laughing in the beginning.
Those scenes are so cringe worthy.

Speaking of BBS I hate most escort missions, wtf goes through those suicidal bitches minds?
"Oh no enemies, I better stay here until he save me" Dumbmeter: low
"Okey, they're gone, let's run again, and I don't care if Terra is cleaning the way to my left, I'm going to the right, maybe no enemies will attack me there" Dumbmeter: high
*Terra save her again*
"oh, he have started fighting enemies further ahead, I better run over to him so he can save me up close even if I'm safe over here and risk dying over there." Dumbmeter: diddlying suicidal bitch
Am I the only on hate that?

I also hate that you loose against Barbosa when Jack die in PotC.

Finally there's the little retcons every here and there like Donal and Goody not recognizing Yen Sids tower (we all know what Nomura said was just the lamest excuse)

I was devastated by the lack of a proper dodge-roll in the original KHII.
I totally forgot that, dodging is something you should have gotten before leaving HB really and you still have to wait till you reach agrabah or something to get a shittier version of it and you still have to level up the shittiest drive form to lv 3 first.

Hardly a little thing but I wish my world battle levels would be consistent on my Birth By Sleep save files.

It's really god damn annoying that the method I used to get Terra to 99 in hours is taking me almost triple the amount of time. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've asked on reddit and made a thread here and no one has anything to say. It's kind of crazy that I haven't seen a single other person complaining about this glitch. It's going to to take me so long to platinum this game now it's abusrd.

You know there's no Trophy for that, right? or am I missing something?
You can just make that exp walk ability though and use something to keep walking while leaving the game on and do something else yourself.

I know there's no trophy, but for the sake of completion it's just part of 100%'ing for me. It also makes the Mirage Arena and optional bosses a lot easier which both need to be completed for the Adventurer trophies.

And I'm pretty sure they nerfed the EXP walker exploit, did they not? When I tried, Terra would stop walking after a minute or two.

ok, I understand, I tried to reach lv 100 on PSP myself but gave up after a while, if it's not for a trophy I didn't want to cheat like that.
I didn't know that they'd fixed that, to bad I guess.

One of my other nitpicks. The way the Coliseum makes crowd sounds and the characters act like people are in the audience when no one is.

This. I decided (to make it better for myself) that the real crowd is somewhere else. Otherwise, it kills me so much.

MSully- just do the Unversed loop in Cinderella's world. There are tons of unversed, and you can endlessly loop. Start at the save above the ballroom, and just jump down, hit all 6-7 mob spots in the ballroom, go out to the foyer, hit all the spots there, hit the side hallway, rinse, repeat. It's an easy way to level finish commands as well. I ended way overleveled with Terra.

I agree the empty cheering of Olympus is creepy though I read an interesting theory that the cheering you hear is actually the gods of Mount Olympus. That maybe the Games were created for the entertainment of the gods.

Which is the only thing that keeps me from throwing something. Then the question is, why even have the bleachers?

Nitpicks that haven't been mentioned yet:

Trying to snag someone's Cure ability on the Command Board only for someone else to snag it immediately after you did.

Aqua not even having the Cure ability on her when the game starts (although they may have changed this in II.5, I'm still on Terra's story).

Terra and Aqua not even having at least -ra level spells.

Lining up all of the O's in Luxords Data Battle.

Auron's theme never being played. I can think of at least two instances where it would have worked perfectly: right after they escape Hades and the Heartless (around the time Auron states his name to Sora and co.) as well as near the end when Auron thanks them for meddling.

Little things that I liked:

"Thanks for meddling."

Every time I hear Xigbar speak.

Using the music from the Piano Collection (the menu screen theme as well as the themes used for Sora's confrontation with Roxas).

The revamped music being AMAZING.

Playing Birth by Sleep on a big screen TV.

Having access to Mega Flare before reaching Radiant Garden.

I agree with the pointing things out and then them popping up. Like, who thought that was smooth at all?

One of Aquas lines in the beginning is weird when she says "You two would make the weirdest brothers." Like, I don't know that line to me was just really odd. As much as I love Aqua as a character, her voice actor too didn't do her any justice.

There's also the part when axel fights with sora to defeat the nobodies. His line "the darkness will overtake you" the way it's said sounds like he's about to sing, the voice sounds really odd at that part.

One thing that bothered me is for both Atlantica and 100 acre wood is if you already had all of the things needed for both, you couldn't just keep going with the story, it would take you out of the world and you'd have to go back. I mean it's just annoying, I have all the pages so unlock all of them at once!

Stitch's D-Link finishers are so lame. Very long & drawn out, & there's always enemies that are just out of reach.
