Audio Report 01
Hello, to anyone who happens to listen to this recording. To start us off, the purpose of this is to give a report of what exactly is going on in this facility from someone experiencing it firsthand. For now, I can’t use specific names of any people or buildings involved in my stay here. If anyone working here got a hold of this, I would be terminated without warning, and I have to say; I enjoy living. Each report will involve altered voices because I can’t take any chances, you see. I’m sure you can tell what I am doing is dangerous, but I have to record what is going on in here, and hopefully I will be able to shed some light with these reports to anyone who happens to find this in the coming calamity.
Now, don’t get so worried now when I say ‘calamity’. It’s not the end of the world. Simply take it as a warning that trouble will be surfacing soon enough. Chances are good it already has if you got her hands on this. I can only hope something, or someone, will stop this trouble before it gets out of hand.
Alrighty, I’ll call myself Imperfect01. Why? Well, that gets me to my first bit of information for you. The facility I am in right now has been performing tons of experiments over the past few years, maybe starting a couple years after the Cold War, give or take a few. The name of these experiments has been called Project Perfection, and the results of this project are Imperfects, such as myself. It’s an attempt to create the perfect super soldiers (you know, like in those comics or cheesy movies and what not). I can assure you, this is real.
Taking random, everyday Joe’s and Jill’s such as myself off the streets, each one of us is bestowed a ‘Piece of Perfection’. All of us have various enhancements, whether being biologically, chemically, or mechanically installed; depends on the enhancement. But these people are pretty careful. They were smart in splitting up the pieces between hundreds of people. I’m telling you, if they gave me more enhancements, I’d tear this place up so fast…
…Oh, sorry about that, just got lost in thought. Well, to be more clear on this, we are called Imperfects not because of our enhancement flaws. On the contrary, each and every one of us is granted perfection in one single thing. Some random, easy to understand examples could be Perfect Speed, being able to run faster than anything ever seen; or Perfect Auto, being able to handle a car like they do in those sick action movies with skills unmatched or surpassed by anyone. It’s crazy what we Imperfects can do, and you can imagine now why it was a smart move to only give one PoP per person. Keeps us separated, weak independently and difficult to unite.
However…and I am sort of scared to mention this but…I’ve heard rumors of a few scary individuals escaping from this place. Crazy stuff. Practically legends to those trapped in here like myself. No doubt though, our time will come soon enough. Just have to hold on…
Well, hope you enjoyed this lengthy introduction into my life. Trust me, things will get clearer with more reports. So I can only hope you keep listening. Time to end this report before the guards check up on me, so this is Imperfect01, signing out.

Small, puffy clouds scattered across the sky here and there, but overall the stars and full moon shone brilliantly upon the earth below. The air was still, not a single leaf stirring amongst the trees. All except those falling to the ground as a lone figure kept his balance on one of the many oaks which lined up along the side of the nearly empty parking lot.
At 12:34 AM, he awaited atop this gift of nature, and with focused eyes of a golden yellow color, he scanned the entire area that made up the property of the local Wal-mart. His fairly short, black fade cut was spiked in the front, ensuring not a single strand of hair would block his vision. He was dressed inappropriately for this rather cold night, wearing only a tight black t-shirt and lightly toned cargo pants as clothing. But the temperature could not be a factor at the moment. His focus remained on the parking lot below, his hands ready to either grab for either pistol strapped on each side of his hips, or the large sniper rifle being carried on his back.
Finally, movement. Two individuals exited the one-stop shopping center casually, each one glancing about the area before stepping out as if checking for something. One was a tall, muscular man with medium length, messy brown hair and a pair of jet black shades on, despite it being night. Like himself, this man wore clothing not suited for the cold, a plain white sleeveless shirt and a pair of simple, navy blue gym shorts.
Beside him was a young woman who stood about the average height of one in their early twenties. She appeared short only due to the above-average height of her friend, but our observer could easily tell. Long, light green hair hung neatly down to her lower back, a black hair band decorating her hair. Unlike the others, she was s bit more properly dressed, wearing a lime green shirt with an open, white jacket, and dark blue jeans.
The two of them began walking out into the parking lot, motions and expressions showing how cautious they were being. The man stationed in the tree reached behind his back, grabbing the sniper and steadying it in place upon his right shoulder. Looking through the scope, he set his sight upon the pair, finger hovering over the trigger, ready to launch the silent killer at his targets…
One, two, three shots fired. Another two shot off after a brief pause from the first burst, each one hitting their targets. Letting out a sigh, shaking his head in irritation as he slung the sniper over his back again. He began his descent down the tree rather quickly and haphazardly, yet not once did he lose his footing.
Landing with a thud on the soft, wet grass, he began brushing off the leaves and twigs caught in his clothes before looking up to be greeted by both a scowl and a smile.
“Thank you Gold! You saved us there!” Yelled the green-haired female, excitedly running up to the man called Gold and embracing him against his will quickly.
“G-get off me! Did I say you could hug me Ma-”
“DON’T!” She shouted, throwing the palm of her hand over his mouth. “Come on Gold, what’s the point of having codenames if you aren’t going to consistently use them?!”
“Good question, what’s the point of having codenames at all, Emerald?”
As Gold glared at the brightly smiling Emerald, the nearly 6’4” towering man approached them, plastic bag hanging in his right hand. “There’s bound to be more of them, we shouldn’t stick around here much longer. If we head back the way we came and-”
“Whoa there, last time I checked, we were practically invisible, gone from their sights. But thanks to Bra-, I mean Violet over here, who had to satisfy his peanut butter craving, they’re after us again. So I think I’ll be making the escape plans from now on Captain Reese’s.”
“Hey, I can’t help when I get hungry! I’m a rather large man, I need my food and it just so happens to be in the form of Reese’s cups! Don’t get all pissed at me for-”
“Oh Violet, watch your temper now. Remember, we are all in this together, let’s not fight guys. Besides, we all know Gold is just worried about Silver. She’s all he ever thinks about since we all met each other.” Emerald said teasingly.
“Shut-up! Both of you!” Gold shouted, fists clenched in anger. “We don’t have time to mess around anymore. In anticipation that this ‘craving’ was going to get us found out, I told Silver to meet us at the center of this forest. We’ll meet her there, lose these guys, and head to the safe zones Teal set up for us. Understand?
“Yeah, fine, whatever…” Mumbled Violet as he chewed on his candy.
“Chyeah! Always with the plans Gold! Let’s get going!” Emerald said, first one to blindly dash into the forest, soon followed by Violet who devoured his entire bag over the course of the conversation. Which left Gold, pinching his temple between his index and thumb, walking very slowly after them and leaving behind a parking lot with 5 lifeless bodies littered about. He began wondering if they’d get lost without his directions, and somewhat hoping they would…
******
The sound of leaves crumpling and twigs snapping under their feet was the only sound in the area as the trio ventured further into the forest. Step by step led them deeper and deeper into the woods, trees spread about with more than enough space between them. Since they couldn’t rely on densely packed trees to conceal them, it was up to a more speed-orientated route in order to escape the soldiers pursuing them. Gold led the pack, walking at a fairly quick pace, yet glancing cautiously in all directions. A couple feet behind him were Emerald and Violet, unable to see as well in the dark and relying on Gold to lead the way.
A shroud of silence formed between them, just as Gold wanted in order to keep under the radar. But as usual, he never could get what he wanted to last too long with his present company…
“Do you even know where we are going?” Violet spoke in a loud, booming voice. “Every tree looks the same, you sure we aren’t just lost?”
“Shush! Can’t you see he’s concentrating! You have to be quiet!” Responded Emerald, hypocritically speaking in an even louder tone than Violet.
“Don’t tell me to be quiet when your twice as loud!”
“Stop it! Can’t you tell Gold is frantically searching through the forest for his dearest Silver? We can’t disrupt his concentration! Right Gold?”
Reaching the limit of his ability to tolerate the two, Gold came to a halt, turning his head to glare at them from over his shoulder. His intense scowl told them better than any words could that he had enough of their squabbling. Violet and Emerald stood frozen in place, mouths sealed as to not provoke the angry beast any further.
Raising his hand and opening his mouth in preparation to scold them in irritation, Gold never had the chance to fulfill this task. Instead, he found himself stumbling backwards from force applied to his body, source being that of a mighty tackle hug.
“GOLD! I was so worried, I thought I got lost and you wouldn’t find me and the soldiers would have found me!” The fourth member of this ragtag group cried, tightening her embracement of the shocked sniper and burying her face into his chest. She was wearing a black long sleeve shirt which was a tad large on her, sleeves ending about halfway over her hand, and a black skirt which went down to about her knees.
“S-Silver?! Calm down will ya?” He began, trying to avoid eye contact with the stupid grins forming on the spectators’ faces. Finally giving in and wrapping a single arm around her, he returned he gentle embrace with a partial smile in order to settle her down. “You’re fine now, don’t panic anymore. We’re all together again, and we’ll stay that way. I won’t let them catch you, I promise.”
The girl pulled her face back, looking up at Gold’s face with her pale blue eyes. Perfectly straight, silver hair hung in the back about two inches down, and in the front it parted in the middle, framing her pretty face. “Thanks, Gold…sorry I freaked out just now, I was just scared. But, I feel safe now that-”
Silver stopped herself mid sentence, cheeks flushing red as she took notice of Violet and Emerald for the first time. Disengaging her hug and quickly taking a step back, she averted her gaze down at the ground, mumbling softly about how she was glad to see them as well and failing to change the subject.
Despite just getting reunited, they would not get the chance to enjoy any peace as the sound of boots thundering on the forest floor became louder all of a sudden. Gold began looking in all direction, eyes wide open and alert.
“Do you see anything, Silver? I can only make out faded outlines of a few, it’s too dark for me to see clearly.”
“Yeah…I see them.”
How many?”
“I…don’t know. By the time I am able to count them, more just appear. There’s so many, are we going to be able to escape?” She asked, looking back at Gold for an answer.
As did every eye in that group, waiting for whatever plan would pop out of his mouth and save them all. Time was running out, and he didn’t have too much time to waste. They were going to have to rely on a risky plan no doubt, considering the troops were almost upon them.
“Emerald, Violet.” He began, addressing the energetic duo. “You see that light over there? That’s where we were originally heading. I want you both to go that way and head over to safe house one. Silver and myself will go across to the other side of the forest and head for safe house three. Either they will split up their forces to find us, or they’ll concentrate all on one, allowing the other to escape…”
“No! We are a team! We escape together, or we go down together!” Argued Emerald, not at all willing to abandon her friends. “It’s too dangerous to split up!”
“Listen to yourself! What would the point of all this be if we all got caught? Some of us have to survive no matter what, even if it’s just one. I’m…” Here Gold paused, his usual, irritated scowl replaced with a more compassionate, almost sad look. “…not going to let what happened to Crimson and Coal happen to you all. We can’t let their sacrifices be in vain. Please, Emerald, we don’t have time.”
The normally outspoken member became silent, opening her mouth a few times, but words failing to come out. She knew Gold was right, and now was not the time to argue amongst friends. “Ok, you’re right. We’ll head to safe house one as Teal instructed. Let’s head out Violet. And Gold…watch over Silver…and yourself.”
Nodding his head to signal he would, Gold and Silver watched as their two comrades dashed off through the trees, swallowed by the dark night.
Soon, the two left behind gave each other one last look in order to reassure each other, then off they went, deeper into the forest, footsteps drawing nearer and nearer.
