A Classic Beginning.
Johto is a peaceful region with many different cities.
People live happily in the region alongside their monster companions, Pokémon.
Pokémon are creatures that use many different elements and moves to fight, defend and play.
They come in all shapes and sizes.
An interesting thing about these Pokémon is that they can transform from their monsterous forms to humanoid forms.
How they can do this is a mystery to scientists.
However, the scientists knew that they wanted to somehow control these powers, so they designed the Pokéball.
The Pokéball is a device that is used to capture the Pokémon and force loyalty on them.
While the Pokémon is in a Trainer's company, it will grow to like them.
Unless it's treated badly.
Then it'll be stubborn to comply with the Trainer's orders and openly dislike them.
A Threat.
A team of humans known as Team Rocket knew the powers of the Pokémon were capable of so much more than just childish things.
They could do big things.
Evil things.
They set out to take control of all the Pokémon and rule the world with an iron fist.
The details of why are a little unclear.
But all the good Trainers know is that they have to be stopped.
And they will defeat Team Rocket while they train to become Pokémon Masters and make lifelong friends with their Pokémon.

Sides.
Team Rocket--
The evil side. They want to capture all Pokemon and will beat up all that oppose them. They treat their Pokemon badly and use them only has fighting machines.
Trainers--
The good and neutral side. They range in all different personalities and interests. They treat their Pokemon in a variety of ways, but usually well. They have Pokemon battles for fun.
Citizens--
Like Trainers, they have varying personalities and whatnot. They usually only own a couple Pokemon at a time. They don't usually battle, but play with their Pokemon or use them for chores and tasks.
