Pope John Paul II recently died at Saturday in his Vatican apartment on 1:00 PM PST. He was 84. A crowd of 70,000 that had gathered in St. Peter's Square below the pope's still-lighted apartment windows are currently praying the Holy Rosary.

Go to www.yahoo.com and on the top right, click on LIVE FROM VATICAN to see a video of what is currently happening in Vatican City.

((I hope this is the right discussion thingy...))

Personal hell... nice trees here.
I myself am not religious. But, i do feel sympathy for those who are extremely shocked at the death.

Personally, i do not see how you an love someone through word of mouth. In order to take someone in regard you must meet that person.

However, I will say, for those that believed in his words and teachings:

May God bless his soul and may he be forever at peace.

Well, he did do so many things for us. He wasn't just talk. That's why we love him. He is like a saint. He forgave the people who had did something bad, like the guy who shot him during his parade. After he recovered the shot, he went to the guy's jail and forgave him. He went to places where no Pope has ever gone to. Places where it is all dirty and all that stuff. He didn't even live in a mansion or anything like what the Presidents do.

As good as that may be, he was rather sexist. He beleived that females could not practice as priests or work in Catholic churches.

He may have had good intentions, but in my opinion, he is just another lost life. I only said the above in sympathy for my friends and omrades who did place faith in him.

Aw man, When I saw him on the news Thursday after they announced the death of Terri, he seemed okay. Even though he couldn't talk well, I thought he was going to pull through and recover. Oh well, wonder who's going to be third pope? May the second rest in peace. . .:)

Yeah...I cried today. Twice.
I don't know why, I've never met the man, but I guess being a Roman Catholic, you feel you should be upset.
I didn't go down to the church, I felt I should have, but I didn't want to go on my own, so I ended up praying for him in my room.
It was just something he said which didn't help hold back the tears; "I have looked for you. Now you have come to me", I thought that was beautiful, especially when he was dying.
Since I couldn't get to the church, I decided to light a candle in my room, for some hope at least. But I guess all we can do now is pray.
I really do want to read some of the things he wrote, I've taken a sudden keen interest in what he's written.

It's better off you leave the Realm of Religion alone and let it be for now DragonRiku.

Religion gives us hope and faith in the impossible and gives us strength at the last second, John Paul carried this virtue with him wherever he went, may he rest in peace.

though i didn't follow him (even thouhg my dads side of the family is roman catholic), i am sorry for his loss, he is probably is going to be the most memorable pope up to now even though dragonriku is right in regards to him being sexist though it is tradition.

Religion is an odd thing really... It controls the minds of people, even when they are fully aware of it.

I have never learned to understand that...

Meh, me either, and its not that they control people, it's just that the people feel like they have to go there. And yes, John Paul thr second was a great man. I am sure many will miss him.

He is in a better place now.

I am a Catholic and i am deeply shocked and saddend by his death.

Your shocked? Don't get me wrong, its sad that he died, but its not very surprising. He was very old and very sick for a long time. I wonder who will take his place....
