I have a couple question about these that hopefully someone knows.

1) On the front of the case, it says "For Sony PSP-2000 Only". The Component Cables also say this on the front. Will these work with the PSP-3000?

2) Do the Composite Cables have to be on an HDTV like the Component Cables do?

If Sony says that it is for the PSP-2000 only, then it probably isn't a terribly good idea to try and get them to work for the PSP-3000.

If your TV has component inputs, then you can use a component cable. If your TV has composite inputs, then you can use a composite cable. Your TV does not have to support HD to use a composite cable, if it has the required port.

it should work both on 3000 and 2000, despite the description on the front. it has something to do with the fact that when the cables were made, the 3000 wasn't out yet, and it never got added.

unless there's 3000-specific cables, but a simple google search will take you to a yahoo answers or something that confirms your question.

That was what I thought. There are no 3000 specific cables that exist, so I think that it's just the fact that the cable came out when the 2000 did.

They only sell component cables at Gamestop, Wal-Mart, Target, and every other store that I can get to. The only available way I think to get them is online.

EDIT: I just found out that Composite can't play games. Only Component. =\

Also, component cables are for what? Transferring HD images and video. Do SDTVs have component inputs? No. Ergo, what type of TV do we know that has component inputs and is capable of HD? HDTVs.

Okay, new problem.
I just got a new TV two days ago.
In the back of the TV, it has the Red and Blue plugs, but not the Green.
Just wondering what those are for...

Uhm, there has to be a green plug, or else your TV does not have a component input.

The green cable carries Y, the blue cable carries PB and the red cable carries PR.

YPBPR is converted from the RGB video signal, which is split into three components, Y, PB, and PR.

• Y carries luma (brightness) and sync information.
• PB carries the difference between blue and luma (B − Y).
• PR carries the difference between red and luma (R − Y).

Here's a crappy diagram of all the input that my TV has.
I saw those letters there that you mention (YPbPr) so I put them in there.
It says Y is the Yellow one I guess instead of the Green.
So I tried out my Video Camera, which came with YPbPr plugs, on it, and nothing shows up. It went from a Black Screen, to a Black Screen that was freaking out. But that might just be because the cords are screwed up, which I don't doubt. Water got on them once.
I'm gonna try the cords on a different TV, and if that don't work, then I'm screwed.

That is a really strange input set up on your TV there. The component inputs are meant to have the red, green and blue plugs in a row, accompanied by an audio input (the red and white plugs).

The reason why your TV went psycho-black is because it doesn't have the Y-input from the green cable. You can't put the green cable into the yellow plug.

Are there any other ports on your TV? Perhaps you could upload a photo of its back.

That's the picture.
The only other port is on the front of the TV, and it's just normal Yellow, White, Red cords.

...o.o' *looks at the picture of the back of your tv* um...that is very complicated. Why is there not a green?

But to answer your questions before (I have the same cord)

1. It does work for 3000's, like everyone has been saying the cord probably came out before the 3000 so that's why it doesn't say it.

2. The tv has to have the hdtv connections (Green, Red, Blue).

Uh-ohs. I don't think your TV supports component input; it doesn't have the green plug!

I plugged the Green in Yellow, and turned down the quality of my Camera from 720p to 480p and it worked. I can see everything on my camera besides the Videos/Pictures Recorded/Taken in 720p.
So, for some odd, out of nature, reason, Yellow = Green on my TV.
And my TV does 480p, which is technically HD.
Toshiba just sucks at labeling things correctly.

So, will the PSP Component Cables work on 480p?

I'm not sure about the 420p thing: generally, 720p or 1080p is what HD sources tend to support. Then again, this is the PSP we're talking about, so there may be exceptions.

The PSP's screen is 480p.

And, Wikipedia says that I can do it. But Wikipedia is a Wiki, so... idk.
