Well based off the translations I've seen, it's not quite reincarnation as much as it's merging with another heart. Given what we know about Dark Road and the scenes we saw before Player passes, I think it's save to assume that Players heart somehow joined with Xehanort's and that's why he had those dreams.

Yeah, to me it's similar to what happened with Ventus and Sora.
