Re: Resident Evil 5

Well then, that makes me really want this game. Split-screen is a dying thing, nowadays.

Re: Resident Evil 5

So, got the game, played it on normal setting with a friend, 12 hours of gameplay tops later we were done. Way too short.

Easilly one of the best co-op games I think I've ever played, mind you. Controls are fantastic, graphics are some of the best I've seen and for once in a RE game is has an actual storyline that grabs you in.

I have one small upset:

If Sheva is to carry on the series I'm glad. My favourite character from the game by far.

The game was badass, but it felt like it was lacking than what I thought it would be like, the graphics are better than RE 4 but I thoght the controls of the characters would be allot more adavaced for a next gen game, it seemed like just a really good ps2 game than a ps3 game.

Re: Resident Evil 5

This game is awesome, better than I thought it be. The graphics are amazing, but the dogs are more of a pain in the ass than RE4.

I hate those dogs so much and the Hyenas are a bigger pain in the ass.
The one thing that pissed me off was the fact that only went after me and never my partner, they also come out of nowhere. In the section where they first show up I ran around a corner and saw the dogs and the firts thing that went through my head was "Not the dogs..anything but the dogs" and then I got jumped, one jumped on my face and started biting me and they continued to gang me for a bit until I finally pulled out my shotgun and got them all into a corner and just unloaded.
The Hyenas are about the same only they take more damage obviously I was a bit in shock because when I was running up against them it was like "Oh hey more dogs..wait a minutes these are bigger OH SHIT HYENAS!"

I don't know how it went for PS3, but the Xbox controls were nothing but fluid the entire game. The setup was brilliant.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I'm on Chapter 3-2 (just starting), and I decided I'm going to a take a break from it for a bit.

So far, the game is pretty fucking awesome, I think. Easily a 9.2 - 9.5/10 for me. That's a personal score, though. And I'm not even playing Co-Op.

On an odd note, I don't see what the fuss is over Sheva. She's yet to do something idiotic in my game. Sure, she wastes ammo, but there's enough of it that I can just go "Meh, I don't care. Take all you want, whore!"

^_^

If you're giving it that much solo, I praise you and also urge you to try co-op when you can. It makes the game even better.

Sheva is a fantastic character. Saw multiple comments on IGN/gamefaqs/youtube about the ending, as in:

But in all honesty, imo I think the ENTIRE game was about co-op/relying on your partner. The RE5 crew making that a part of the storyline I think was fantastic and all they get is my praise.

All I can say, still, as a downside is how short it was. Everything else was just fucking perfect.

Re: Resident Evil 5

As it stands now me and Ojike (quiteMAD) are on the last stretch of the game; Chapter 6-1 to be exact.
So far everything's been going pretty epic.

I really don't have any gripes up until this point, I suppose it doesn't feel all that short to me because I'm not going through it all in one sitting. My playthrough includes killing all the mini and option bosses in the game, just because it means more money. Although I was a little disappointed in the fact that they aren't hard at all to kill, we've pretty much just raped any and all enemies we've come across.

I'd also like to note that by far my favorite character in the game is Irving.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Ow, All on Normal? Me and my friend really went to Veteran and it took us til 8 P.M my time here to get all the way to 6-3. Well three days since, he lived 5 hours ahead of me. Anywho.
Yes the game is so freakin epic. I love everything about it. I can pretty much say yeah, I do too have some disappointments as well. Sheva is my new Favorite character.
I have one more final part to do and I'm good.

Though being on Veteran was a Pain in the ass. Every hit nearly took Half or almost, all the life you had.
And I'm Mad, that I didn't get the trophy I needed in one part of the game. Because My friend and I were on Veteran. hmm, Go figure :/

4-3 so far and the story in general is incredibly disappointing. I'm also not loving the lack of variety in enemies or how many weapons there are and how they're all effectively the same.

Game is kind of a letdown so far :\

Re: Resident Evil 5

I'm put off by the enemies in the Marshes and Ruins. I don't know if it's a spoiler to put them there, but you'll know who I'm talking about.

Other than that, I'm enjoying e'erything, and I'm on 4-2. . . . I think.

Yeah those are the only enemies that make me feel as though the game is racist only because they seem to have absolutely no reason of being in the game, I mean there doesn't seem to be any explanation as to why it's that way. They just seem to pop up is all, I did some reading though and apparently the parasite has caused them (at least in their own minds) to revert back to their ancestral way of living, causing them to dress the way they do, build all of these things and wear the mask. Still it seemed rather pointless, but yeah I know exactly what you're talking about.

Yeah, that's why I think it lacks racism in that section (which was the only area I'd even CONSIDER it being racist). The game at least EXPLAINS why they're like that, rather than just "OHOHOHO HERE, HAVE SOME NEW ENEMIES."

Although I do have to admit that I like their character designs, especially the big guys with the mask.
But yeah they felt as if they were thrown in without any real explanation although I did love the

The game actually explains everything indepth if you stop to read all notes/letters that are lying around and all the case files as they become available. It adds an extra element to the storyline if you bother to take your time to review them. For example, my friend and I were extremely pissed at the hair colour of Character X until we read that there was a reason for that via the case files. Nothing about the game is racist whatsoever. It's set in Africa, a part of Africa primarilly inhabited by black people. Where's the racism?

I disagree. Compared to previous Resident Evil games (or most, for that matter) there's quite a lot of variation, but not so much that it gets unrealistic and confusing. You basically had to pick one weapon out of the multiple choices for each type of ammo you could collect. Weapon A, B, C and D may all have been available to you, but alas because they all used Ammo A you could only realistically take one of them. I really enjoyed that part of the game and it was a welcome addition, IMO.

The storyline... I don't know, maybe I'm far too used to all the past RE games, I thought 5's was fantastic and it easilly has replay value, if even just for the story itself. I'd take 5 over 4's any day.
