And? Stop using this thread for your own irrelevant conversations, and let's try to get back on topic, kay?

It was made as a form of good luck charm, but at the same time, I didn't see one being made for Riku. Or did Kairi just make one in general that they'd hang on the ship for good luck or something? I forget.

The sea shell charm was shaped like Sora. It had his hair-do drawn on one of the shells and had his effin Crown Necklace be what tied it all together.
A general charm on Kairi's side? Doubtful.
Is it the same with Xion? Seeing how Xion takes up more to Namine in that aspect and cares about both people next to her (Roxas and Axel, compared with Sora and Repliku for Namine) as opposed to Kairi (who waves Riku off), I doubt that part of the shell's meaning can be taken from Kairi.
I'd sooner connect it in some way to Namine's good luck charm which shares the shape witht the charm Kairi made.

Why do all KH fans think that every little object has to have some sort of meaning? Kairi liked sea shells, if Xion is connected to Kairi, then she will like sea shells too. It's good to think outside of the box, but you can take it a little far :p As deep as Kingdom Hearts, it's not so deep that every object plays a huge part in the story. The sea shell to Kairi, represents friendship, her friendship with Sora. Thats about it.

Because it does. Specifically Kairi's good luck charm, or have you forgotten the attention it received in CoM?

It's good to think outside of the box, but you can take it a little far :p

In light of what we've had thus far, I'd say - no. Despite obvious flaws, the game is rather impressive as far as the inter-relationships and character comparisons go. It's hardly something to look down at.

As deep as Kingdom Hearts, it's not so deep that every object plays a huge part in the story. The sea shell to Kairi, represents friendship, her friendship with Sora. Thats about it.

And in a game where friendship is what makes it all go 'round, e.g. - Sora going to look for Riku and Kairi in KH1; Riku being hurt by Sora's behavior in KH1 and doing what he did; Sora leaving Kairi behind to go look for Riku, his best friend at the end of KH1; Sora going through what he went through for Namine; Namine in return confessing to Sora and helping him get better again; Riku going through what he went through between CoM and KH2, and then during KH2 - for Sora; Sora going through hell and back for Riku; events such as Hollow Bastion where the friendship meant everything and Sora was torn between his relations.
Sora and Riku at the Dark Ocean at the end of KH2 -
Saying it's related to friendship is by definition of it being in a Kingdom Hearts game - saying it's about as important as it gets.

Though in the beginning of KH1 during the time that Sora would be helping out on the raft, originally Kairi said that she heard of stories where sailors would use Thallassa shells as good luck for when traveling. She probably drew Sora's features later on, maybe after joking about ditching Riku and just going ahead with herself and Sora only.

I doubt it was meant as a joke. They didn't exactly seem to waver as to whom Kairi was interested in - and about whom she hardly seemed capable of caring even at the worst of times.
Also, the charm representing both Sora and Kairi's promise as well as Sora and Namine's (and Namine and Repliku's, for that matter) show us that charm is not meant to be something shared between more than two people.
It's Sora shapred for a reason.

Which makes me hard to believe that Nomura didn't intend any couples, making Kairi being all over Sora just as Sora was to her. Then CoM happens and she gets replaced by Namine. Means that during that time, his feelings were directed to Kairi! Then the feelings start going into a lesser extent after slowly getting obsessed with finding Riku which triggers many fanartists to make yaoi doujinshis through Sora's perspective rather than Riku's.

But shared for more than two people? It's starting to sound like it's shaped in a star to represent as some sort of paopu fruit between the trio now. Although giving it to Sora, her feelings towards him are stronger, right?

The only time he was remotely "all over her" is the five minutes of DI, in which he seems annoyed with her for hitting him and not believing him, has Riku come to save him from her, and then Sora concludes that Kairi's changed, and moves on to avoid her cooties at the end of the road.

Then CoM happens and she gets replaced by Namine. Means that during that time, his feelings were directed to Kairi!

There was another girl. Throw in that until proved otherwise (to tie in with Sora's "you've changed" comment), Kairi and Namine are nothing alike and Kairi'd never ever fit into the main Memories he has of Namine (and that's before we even get to the issue Kairi couldn't be in those Memories since they happened before the meteor shower) you'd get why I call shenanigans on that.

Then the feelings start going into a lesser extent after slowly getting obsessed with finding Riku which triggers many fanartists to make yaoi doujinshis through Sora's perspective rather than Riku's.

SoRiku is canon, blame not the yaoi lovers for taking it that extra mile.

She's obsessed with him. I can't really say she cares, seeing all the horrible things she tells him about Riku and hitting him etc. Tomboyish? Perhaps, but that still leaves
1) ditching Riku
2) Saying he lost his Heart
3) then changing it to Riku being able to take care of himself when she saw with his own eyes he couldn't
4) never once mentioning Riku when Sora was talking about going to save him, but only caring that Sora'll come back.
5) Not giving a damn about Riku even though he's been absent for years and we can only hope she remembers that much to know she should care - unless she either never cared, or her entire friendship with him was based around Sora, so when she forgot Sora, she forgot why she should pretend to care about Riku.

It's a star because making it Heart shaped would be far too cliche, and KH has lots of stars so that's one more on the list.

Hehee...
SA you can turn anything into a Namine/Kairi comment/thread.

On topic.....
Anyway Xion and Roxas find the shells in a lot of cutscenes so, I just think that it's... hinting/making fun of an idea and it's there to shed light on the situation.
It's not EXTREMELY important to the plot but it's important nonetheless

Seeing the topic at hand, it was all but a given that once I posted here, it would end up as this >_> especially when they're trying to compare Xion and Kairi, which are anything alike imo. Xion's too... iono. A mixture of Namine and the general impression of Aqua - neither are too much like Kairi, especially not when Namine's Watanabe written.

I think that if it would draw lines to Sora and Kairi, that it's EXTREMELY important to the plot - if only to draw us away from the truth.

I must admit, Xion besides looks does not remind me of Kairi.
She's to...shy. Plus, she likes both her friends. Enough to be very sad to leave them both.
It's not like she's about to go up and hit Roxas or Axel like Kairi did in KH1.
Also...she seems just so sad. Unlike Kairi....
AND as your statement said about Riku and Kairi's...'relationship' Xion seems genuinely curious/likes Riku.

Well...I suppose it would since Roxas is Sora's nobody and Xion looks like Kairi/Namine/ etc...
It could have conections seeing as all of them are connected.
It's not like we've seen anything implying Axel finding any shells.
But I don't think he's into that...-_-

Maybe Riku got jealous of Sora and Kairi having nobodies.

Riku: I wan't one to!!! T_ T

They must learn. They can't be trios for everything.

dood, put up a link, because that would be pretty awesome, but heres the part where I gotta get skeptical. The org wasnt around then.

=/ I posted a link to the opening in my first post. Go back and click on the part that says "Youtube - KH2 Opening".

On topic, I think the seashells represent a connection between the hero and his friend who just so happens to be a girl. Since I refuse to call Kairi's Sora's girlfriend when that's so obviously Riku/Namine's role. <3 Sora receives the shells from Kairi, Xion receives the shells from Roxas. It's a sign of their friendship.

HI! I'm a new member so...

Didn't roxas pick up a Tallasa Shell?

It's what made up her good luck charm or whatever. The piece that gets washed away in the intro is exactly the same as the one Roxas picks up in DI. Obviously, hinting a connection, much like everything we've seen that takes place on DI.

Yes

Maybe Xion is the Nobody of kairi, since they did what kairi and sora did(sea shells?).

Too obvious and too much indicating otherwise. I think the most recent trailer all but killed such a notion, though some would disagree.

Xion........ i hate you!!!!!

Only say that once you've played the game.
