What about this? Titans were created by humanity as a form of tool in order to help humanity evolve. But there were countless failures because of the experiments, which led the outside humanity to trap the failed titans, while at the same time unintentionally trapping those of the inside walled humanity. It's then revealed that the supposed "First Titan" became angered by the others' decision and decided to help the inside humanity by building the walls and giving them a power it stole from the outside humanity. After that, it became a stale-mate. How could the outside humanity hope to stand up against countless failed experiments and the coordinate (which could have the power to control them as well (supposing all of the are titan-shifters)). But years later, a group of radicalists decided to destroy the threat entirely, and sent in agents that no one would suspect as titan shifters ("Why their kids?" You may ask? I dunno.) That's why the real family doesn't want anybody going outside the walls to figure out the truth because if they found out then they might preach what they've seen and cause an uprising/possibly lose this secret Cold War. And that's why the outsiders want them to die (Or it could be that the outside humanity calls them sinners because maybe the first titans power was forbidden).

The land Grisha is from is very Nazi Germany. But I guess we now know why the titan shifters hate the people inside the walls, and why Grisha was baffled that the people were fighting the titans. So it turns out that the titan shifters ARE the villains (more than anybody else at least), and why the Fritz/Reiss family didn't want to leave the walls. Also, doesn't Daina Fritz resemble the Smiling Titan a bit? If she was, talk about ex-hate!

Also, I did a count and I think there have only been 8/9 titan powers shown. Assuming that the Mare empire did procure 7 of the titans while the other two went to the walls, then that means that the ones inside the walls are most likely Eren and Frieda (deceased), leaving only Eren. Grisha needed to consume a titan shifter to become a titan shifter, so he ate someone and then he became the new titan shifter (assuming normal circumstances), which he than passed on to Eren after killing Frieda. The others go kind of like this:
1. Bertolt - Armin
2. Reiner Braun
3. Annie Leonhart
4. Marcel - Ymir
5. Zeke
6. Quadrupedal Titan
So that means there are only 8 titan powers left, one of which hasn't been shown. Also, I don't want to believe Ymir is THE Ymir, but her story is kind of reminiscent with the original Ymir. She said she lived her life and died because they hated her; also, she talked about being a goddess.

The Marley-Nazis were recruiting Eldian ghetto kids 7 yrs and up, offering the possibility of receiving titan powers and full citizenship if they prove their loyalty. Grisha's first kid joined the nazi army and turned in his own family, a nice display of loyalty...

What I'm saying is, I think I know who the Beast titan is now.

Beast Titan's name is Zeke. Grisha's kid is named Zeke. I'd be shocked if you didn't know.

Yeah, THAT I know. I was just confused if I missed anything in this chapter in particular. What I wanted to say was the exact thing you said. Grisha's son was named Zeke. And that made everything kinda clear.

I just saw that a manga about Levi started to appear here in Finland, so I was curious if anyone here has read it? If you have was it good, or does it have spoilers about the later things that happen in the series? I think it`s about Levi`s past but since I only at volume 10 of SNK I want to make sure that I`m not spoiled.

Yeah, No Regrets is the one I mean. Sine it`s set in the past I guess there is no need to worry about spoilers.

Read No Regrets a while back and I did not really enjoy it. It`s a bit hard for me to say why but some of the characters felt odd. Also, all thou Isayama`s style might be a bit rough especially in the beginning, to me it partially gives AoT it´s unique feel. So No Regrets also felt a bit out of place or weird because a different person was drawing it.

Oh man! I so called it! I mean, they look the same, but come on! I totally called who the Smiling Titan was! Also, I was actually quite satisfied with Owl's betrayal and reveal of him being the original Rogue Titan.

Also, upon further reflection, I would like to say that in the mythology of Ymir making a deal with the devil, I've gone over numerous scenarios to which we can apply said "deal" to the real world (scientists, some form of mutation, an extinct fruit or potion) but I've come to the conclusion that I would be most satisfied if the "devil" was the ACTUAL and ONLY titan at the time and that it was just a freak of nature that reproduced asexually, which is why it can give other people titan forms. Also, I've been thinking about this along the lines of "The Strain" by Guillermo Del Toro, and I've been thinking that maybe Ymir didn't become mindless because the "devil" was dying and wanted his powers passed along, so he gave her something "extra" to prevent her loss of thought. Anyway, this would be just my satisfying explanation.

Okay, so I've seen some major misconceptions about the Opening on various platforms and I need to rant.
1.) It's not "Seid ihr das Essen? Nein, wir sind der Jäger!
This is a grammatical mess. It is die Jäger, because this is plural.
The second sentence does not even contradict the question so it's like "What relevance does that have to my question?"

2.) It actually is "Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger!"
Again, die not der.
This does not translate to "You are the food and we are the hunters" because the pronoun is 3rd person plural.
But yeah. This confusion I can see because it might as well mean "You are" because of the formal speech etc.

While I'm not sure how German lyrics usually work, I know for a fact that English song lyrics sometimes take... liberties with grammatical rules. Or butcher them.

^ I don't really know. German songs are usually just normal rhymes with, you know, a melody. They're actually quite accurate.


Well, I've listened to this opening in 0.5 speed now. It is "Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger". Sorry, but there literally is no denying it. I've read somewhere in the comments that the actual lyrics were indeed supposed to be "Sind sie das Essen? Nein, wir sind die Jäger!", but were changed at last second before recording.

Really, listen to it closely. After "essen" you should hear a slight kind of "nd wir" sound.

So I'm guessing the "truth" is that Ymir came into contact with some sort of mutagen, turning her into the first "super" titan shifter.

Her spinal fluid was then distributed into 9 titan shifters.

If one dies, that power, in the form of some kind of airborne virus, goes to another human.

I'm not sure how Marley got the fluid that produces mindless types.


So becoming a shifter degenerates the body in 13 years....Eren's been a shifter for five...


Eren finally saw the ocean, but in a rather unexpected way.
