THE STORY

Ancient Egypt, 1985 BC

Political authority became less centralized in Ancient Egypt. It was a time of uncertainty. Fearing that Amenemhat the First was losing his grip, the religious cult known as the Dynasty of Ra rebelled against him and gathered the six elements of the earth together – fire, water, lightning, ice, air and earth – to seal away into the Book of Osiris, which would reactivate the elements when opened. The Dynasty was eventually discovered and charged with treason, but the Book was buried alongside the Dynasty’s master, Ramses.

London, 2010 AD

The Book of Osiris was long forgotten for thousands of years … until now. It was discovered by Timothy Williams, an archaeologist, on a trip to the Ancient Egyptian ruins in 1950. Pleased with his finding, he kept the Book in the Williams Mansion, never told anyone and researched it in secret, but never dared to open it.

Sixty years on and ten years after his death, six people find their fates intertwined, as Williams’ descendant opens the Book and they are Marked with the elements, depending which one suits their personality. After the light engulfs them, they pass out … only to find that they are in an unknown facility at an unknown location. Clearly remembering what happened to them, they soon discover the government does not want them to ever leave. The elements are supposedly dangerous and could destroy the world.

But since when did a bunch of young people become so vicious, anyway?

RULES

No powerplaying or godmodding. I cannot stress this enough. You should know not to take control of anyone else’s character apart from your own and not to be almighty either. You may have an element in this, but you cannot be stronger than any other of the Elementals. With exceptions of sneaky tactics, emotional states and such, Elementals are on par with each other. There’ll often be draws with some victories and losses regarding fights. The elements are on the same level. So that means no killing each other either.

If you want an element, you must PM me first. It only seems fair, considering that first one to post doesn’t seem right. Others may want the element and might not be able to get on at the time. Plus, it’s important to get the right element you want. So once you request an element and get it, there’s no going back and changing your mind. A list of who has what element will be up in this post.

Once your element has been finalised, you must include it towards the end of the History section and mention the coincidental meeting at the Williams Mansion because it is there where you gained it in the first place. The rest of the History is entirely up to you. Make it how you see it.

You may use IC (In Character) and OOC (Out Of Character) in the main RP thread. However, try to keep OOC to a minimum and if it’s longer than needed, it’s best just putting it in the sign-up thread to keep things tidy. So more IC and less OOC right there for you, folks.

Literacy is a must, but it doesn’t have to be entirely perfect. It just has to be understandable enough, so there are no communication problems between everyone else. If you post a certain part in a different language, could you please translate at the same time in your IC or OOC? Thanks.

In the appearance section of the template, please include a small sentence that revolves around your Elemental Mark. This was branded on your character as soon as the element was released on them. This can be anywhere from head to toe. The Mark represents your element. For example, the ice elemental may have the Mark of a snowflake on their ankle.

ELEMENTS

Taking on an element is no easy task. Whoever is to open the Book of Osiris unleashes the six elements, which date back to the Ancient Egyptian times. Each element enters the host they deem to be worthy of their power and depends on their personality suiting that particular element, too. It hits the first six worthy hosts and remains in there for the rest of their lives. Ramses, master of the Dynasty of Ra, hid the elements in there when he felt Amenemhat the First was losing his grip over the political stability of Ancient Egypt. He knew the elements were dangerous and weapons of mass destruction, so he killed himself and the Book was buried with him. Whatever element a host has is entirely their responsibility.

Fire
This originates from the Sekhmet, the God of fire and war. The host that bears this element has a quick temper, suffers from loss of control and is prone to being angrier than the others. The following effects include his or her temperature rises far beyond that of an ordinary human, creation and manipulation of fire, changing the temperature in the room, summoning fireballs and engulfing their entire body on fire. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Sekhmet.

Water
This originates from Nu, the God of waters and the abyss. The host that bears this element is generally calmer, feels a deep connection with the water and is perhaps the best swimmer in the world. The following effects include his or her temperature being cooler than that of an ordinary human, creation and manipulation of water, breathing underwater and the power to summon the mightiest of oceans. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Nu.

Lightning
This originates from Reseph, God of plague and war. The host that bears this element is full of fun, more energetic than usual and does not tire out as easily. The following effects include creation and manipulation of lightning, manipulation of electrical devices, charging of electrical devices, absorption of lightning and electricity as well as the power to summon both together for a terrifying attack. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Reseph.

Ice
This originates from Chione, the Goddess of ice and beauty. The host that bears this element is more closed off from everyone else, liking to keep to themselves and not caring much for anyone else’s problems. The following effects include creation and manipulation of ice, his or her temperature drops significantly more than the ordinary human, freezing anything or anyone around her, changing the temperature in the room and turning their own body into ice. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Chione.

Air
This originates from Shu, God of the wind and air. The host that bears this element is free-spirited, looks to the skies for freedom and is the most peaceful of the elements. The following effects include creation and manipulation of air, flying freely to defy the laws of gravity and controlling natural air-based disasters. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Shu.

Earth
This originates from Wadjet, Goddess of the earth. The host that bears this element is more level-headed, thinks things through more and tends to care more about the planet. The following effects include creation and manipulation of the earth, causing earthquakes and manipulation of the lifecycle of earthbound beings. Once self-controlled, the host could go up to even the power of Wadjet.

I was going to definitely join this until I saw this. So no matter who we fight, the battle will always end up in a draw?

This also surprised me, a bit.

I would expect an understanding of the physics of your element, and general mental fortitude would give someone an edge. Or, for example, simply attacking from behind, or while someone's asleep...

I may well join anyways, though.

If two Elementals are going all out, then it'll be a draw. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.

Or, for example, simply attacking from behind, or while someone's asleep...
This is one of them.

Another would be an emotional state that would trigger the element to be more powerful, as the Elemental's emotions continue to rise.

So perhaps "always" may have been a bit too much there. But "often" would be the correct word. Hope that answers everything.

well, this seems decent. and that is a bad rule. just because someone loses doesn't mean they die. Plus, elements are stronger then others. water can wash away fire, fire can melt ice or evaporate water. Fire can burn wood. Wind can make fire stronger or put it out. You can't say one element is the same as all the else.

than you also have to consider the way people use their magic.

and plus, every person is different. you gotta consider physical skills and strength and speed. Maybe how smart they are. there are plenty of reasons why no one elemental is the same as all of them.
