To be honest, it did seem like nothing much happened visually, but some of the conversations particularly on Gula's and Luxu's side are slightly big, such as another hint of the identity of the traitor that wasn't shown in Browser X.
Anyway to start with, each Foreteller+Luxu was assigned tasks by the MoM which are titled in a way "Case of":
Ira-be the leader of the foretellers.
Aced-support Ira.
Invi-Monitor the the rest of the foretellers and make sure they get along
Gula-Find and get rid of the traitor and trust no one. Also, he's the only one to be given the 'lost page' to kickstart his task.
Ava-Be the hope, and make a group composed of exceptional people separate from her union to be saved from the keyblade apocalypse.
Luxu-Survive past the Keyblade apocalypse and go far through the future(?). Also pass on "No Name" keyblade to his disciples.
Also note how that the phrase "May your heart be your guiding light" is repeated plenty of times at the conclusion/resolution of most cases of the foretellers.
So far here's what actually happens:
*Cases with very important plot points.
Ira-As we all know, to those who watched it already, he barely had screen time and he barely acted as a proper leader too. Instead of keeping the group together and lead them to prevent the apocalypse as he wished, he kinda got obsessed with finding the traitor, which at the beginning spilled the beans about it and accused that one of the foretellers is the traitor. Of course, Ava and surprisingly Aced actually disagrees with him, they believe there's no traitor within the foretellers.
Although Ira believes that the one who holds the lost page might as well be the traitor too, as far as I could remember.
---
Also, for his sin name, it's interesting. While he seems calm and Aced fits Ira's wrath name more, Ava actually hinted that Ira does fit his name. Ava said at some point when Ira was telling her to hand over Gula, Ira had a scary look at his face.
Aced-One of the most interesting cases in Back Cover for me and probably the main reason why local Back Cover plot conflict happens, so his is going to be long.
Of course, he barely supported Ira. When MoM assigned that task, he told Aced that Ira's going to be the leader of the group once he's gone. Of course he's surprised with both of the news, but more importantly, Aced desired to be the leader, that's why he was slightly disappointed. Of course MoM told him his personality isn't really leader-like, but he did say that if Ira isn't available, Aced should be his substitute. That's what he also meant with the support besides just supporting Ira in general.
Unfortunately, as time passed and when Ira pointed out that one of foretellers is the traitor, tension increased between them leading Aced to think Ira's overthinking makes him incompetent, which he then decides to form a separate Alliance. Surprisingly, the purpose of the Alliance was to unite the unions and prepare against the threat of Darkness. He first told this one to Gula and Ava, but only Gula agreed to join in on the alliance. Ava and eventually when Invi came in, both disagree with him because forming an alliance was forbidden by the MoM himself.
Invi's argument with Aced here is also interesting to me. Invi told the reason why an alliance was forbidden was because it will cause an imbalance of power within the unions causing one to be superior than the others which then connects to the darkness, or something like that. She then accuses that Aced may be the one harboring Darkness himself.
Aced argued back that what about her, she keeps observing them and then reports to Ira her findings. He then accuses her of being a spy, to which Invi retorts that it was her task given by the MoM. But Aced clarifies that her task was just to observe, there is no need to report to Ira at all, which is true actually. Then Aced proceeds to accuse her of a possible conspiracy scheme between her and Ira, which Invi isn't amused at all with the accusation. Note: This is the reason why he didn't call Ira and Invi to join in in this conversation.
Anyway, time marches on, and Gula finally decides to cancel the alliance with Aced, to Aced's surprise. Gula's reason for joining was because he agreed with the alliance purpose of "preparing against the Darkness" but the reason why he decided to call it quits because they still can't find the traitor. He also dropped that Invi told him to quit it with the alliance, which further aggravated Aced increasing even more tension against him and Invi.
He then decides to attack Invi and demands her the reason why she gets in his way. Invi then tells him that it's because he's ruining the MoM's teachings. Then after that was the trailer lines between Invi and Aced. Aced at this point is in the height of his arrogance because he now believes he's the only one who can 'save' this world, the 'savior'. So after that Gula and Ava comes in and Invi tells them the traitor is Aced so they beat him up.
Soon after in hiding, Gula confronts him and tells that his task was to eradicate the traitor and he has the lost page, but unfortunately for Gula, Aced still has strength left in him so he got beaten up instead. After Ava preventing him from finishing Gula he then decides to go away and eventually encounters Ira.
They somehow made up together, like Ira forgiving Aced, but Aced tells on about how Gula holds the 'lost page' painting him as the traitor instead. This got Ira pissed as commented by Ava.
Invi-As Aced said, she did her job of monitoring but she failed in making everyone get along.
Her problem was she kept reporting to Ira every findings she could get. This also caused her an argument with Ava because she told where Gula was resting to Ira. She then accuses of Ava doing something off behind their backs too like gathering other people and training them where not even the foretellers cannot find. Of course, Ava barks back that it was the task given to her by the MoM in the first place. To which they eventually cooled down.
Invi then asked her Gula's whereabouts to which Ava replies he isn't in this area anymore. This is where Ava also commented Ira's scary look on his face. Note: After this, presumably Ava flashed back because of Gula still being there and her meeting up with Ira.
Ava then asks her what she's going to do now that things are escalating to a war, to which Invi says she'll just keep collecting Lux. She thinks it would help.
Also note, Invi was the one to accuse Aced of being the traitor first and telling this to Ira first too. Most of her arguments are in Aced's notes.
---
Lastly some personal reflection with names, I think they switched up Invi and Aced's names. Invi seemed lazy with her work actually and Aced had hints of envy towards Ira because of his position as leader.
Gula-His case is the one that extends to the overall plot of X/UX actually. Particularly the identity of the traitor and well stuff.
I've already explained his movements with Aced on Aced's case so there's no need to go over all that again. But just to note, his reason for joining Aced's alliance is because he agreed with the purpose, but called it quits because much time has passed and still no traitor in sight.
Anyway the MoM gives him and only him the copy of the 'lost page'. And that conversation with Ava gives us another hint written in the lost page that wasn't in browser X.
"THE TRAITOR BEARS THE RECUSANT'S SIGIL"
After telling Ava how he failed at his mission of not being able to find and eradicate the traitor, who he kind of thinks is Aced because of Invi, but now doubts because he still doesn't understand what the Recusant's sigil means. Ava tells him she isn't really interested in all that. She too just wants to do her assigned task.
But then Gula handholds Ava tightly and tells her what he's going to do next instead.
Gula wants to summon Kingdom Hearts.
He believes by summoning Kingdom Hearts, MoM will come back immediately again and prevent the Apocalyptic prophecy from happening. Ava of course argues that it's forbidden. But Gula argues back that that's exactly the reason why MoM will return immediately because it IS forbidden. So Gula then asks Ava to cooperate with her. Unfortunately, Ava declines.
Ava was right to decline it after all. She says she doesn't know what Kingdom Hearts really and truly can do, like us KH fans.
Gula then decides to leave, and according to Ava has proceeded to gather more Lux.
---
Some note about Gula, he's actually smart according to MoM. When MoM gave him his task, Gula then immediately deduced the reason why they were given separate tasks instead was so whoever moves differently from their tasks, that's where they can find the traitor.
Oh well, the all moved differently from their tasks in the end anyway. Maybe except for Luxu? Who knows?
Ava-Nothing much really happens with Ava other than protecting Gula and disagrees and argues with everyone in favor of just following the MoM's orders. It's probably because most of her plot happens in the games themselves. However, we do see a side of her due to being in high-end 3d technology graphics.
While she may appear confident in the games, she's actually quite hesitant here. Makes sense since she's facing the other foretellers, not us players.
---
With her task, I think it's up to us to decide whether she pulled it off well or not. Personally I think she did pull it off well unlike the other foretellers. Was that what Nomura meant with the gun trigger? But then once she executed the Dandelions project, she went off and did her own thing as seen in browser X. But then what about Unchained X? That's where we'll find out I guess.
I find it cute too how both she and Gula teased Aced that he's the most dangerous based on his face at the beginning parts of the movie. It's for some reason, much more simple yet convincing compared to BBS' cheesy friendship lines.
Luxu- Luxu's also interesting since his case extends to KH3.
His keyblade the "No Name" given by the MoM has an eye on the blade. While Luxu calls it the "Gazing Eye", MoM says the blade doesn't really have a name. Thus Luxu calls it the "No Name".
MoM proceeds to tell that 'Gazing Eye' there is actually his own Eye.
Of course Luxu reacted on disgust but anyway MoM instructs him to live past the apocalypse and pass that keyblade to his disciples. He says that Keyblade is what lets him see the future itself. That is MoM's secret recipe for predicting the future.
Also the reason why he wasn't given a book was because it might create a paradox, since he's the only MoM disciple that gets to live safely away from the war and proceed to the next era.
MoM also tells Luxu to start traveling once something happens between the foretellers and tells him to bring the box. However, he tells Luxu to never open the box, ever. Luxu is curious anyway, so MoM whispers to him things to which Luxu replies, "That's bad!"
Then after that, that's where we see him on the desert bringing the box with him.
Anyway, so far, I like how the script is a bit better than KHBBS actually. Although it still feels lacking overall. But hey, it was fun looking at the new graphics.
You know, it could just be me, but maybe there's a reason why Skuld isn't here? There's two reasons I could think off:
(1)Maybe the movie was already done when Skuld's design was revealed or
(2)That this might actually have been the 1st iteration of the events based on X's credits.
The second one is interesting to me because if it's 1st iteration, then the friend Ephemera mentions he made might've been Skuld before she was Unchained.
Meaning, when we met Skuld, she's actually already Unchained just like Ephemera already, except they're there to guide others for awakening. Okay who knows? Just my two cents. Haha
