[SPOILER] Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: χ[chi] Back Cover

Not sure if this is spoiling or not...
Recently, I was able to *somehow* watch Back Cover in an English dub (thanks to Cyberman65!). I have comments/questions in regards to the dialogue and video as well as the Kingdom Hearts series in general:

• Despite the Master of Master's playful and sarcastic nature, could he possibly be the traitor, or is there no traitor at all and he's simply the catalyst for the impending Keyblade War? Based on the MoM handing down the No Name Keyblade to Luxu, and it eventually ends up with Xehanort when we see him wielding it in BbS, I have to assume he's more of the latter... but the former seems possible too, considering that Gula agrees with the Lost Page's ambiguity.
  [*]The twenty locks on the box Luxu drags into the Badlands, I'm assuming that when the battle between the Seven Lights and Thirteen Darkness occurs in KH3 the box might open. I think it's the true χ-Blade or something? It seems like an interesting thought.
  [*]How many people does the No Name Keyblade go through before reaching Xehanort? It's indirectly stated that someone who was taught by Luxu eventually received that Keyblade and passed it down until it reaches Xehanort... not that it matters, though it's very interesting to think about.
  [*]Is the Rebirth theory possible? Only time will tell, I guess, but KH3 can't come soon enough.

About the first question, I have been thinking the same thing. It looks as if the master wrote the book of prophecies himself and gave vague descriptions so that it can be applied and localized in every timeline, and in doing so the foretellers think that what is written there is about to happen in the near future and given the tasks the master gives them, they are even more "reassured" about this and help with their doings to bring that prophecy to life.
The existence of the BoP which shows the success of Luxu makes no sense to me. How can something that happen in the future, be written in the past?!

I think Nomura confirmed that the MoM was aware of the X-Blade and was trying to create a version of his own. It might be, or it might contain kingdom hearts, the real one.

Assuming that Back cover happens very very long ago I would say more than 100-200 masters. It could have been 2000 years ago, since now it's only a legend for many people.

What do you mean by rebirth? rebirth of whom?

I think you read into that line from the interview wrong. Nomura was explaining that he created keyblades in the image of the X-Blades by pulling them from the hearts of those worthy, he was just explaining the origin of keyblades. Nomura was just trying to say that the MoM didn't forge the keyblades, they were always part of people's hearts, and that they were simply created in the image of the X-Blade itself, not that the MoM wanted to create a complete copy of the X-Blade itself.

It's all part of what temporal theorists call a "predestination paradox". The whole reason that MoM can see the future and thus write the Book of Prophesies, is because he included his all seeing eye into the keyblade he gave Luxu. As time went on, that keyblade was passed down through the generations until it eventually got to Xehanort, which means that MoM can see up to that point in the future.

If Luxu had failed to pass on his keyblade, then the MoM in the past, would not have been able to see the future, and thus, would not have written the Book of Prophesies. Since he could see into the future, that meant that Luxu would eventually succeed in passing on his keyblade far into the future.

So what MoM is saying is, since he can see into the future, that means his plan to have Luxu pass on the keyblade will succeed and has succeeded.

It makes me wonder if it's possible for that power to manifest in other physical forms besides an oversized key-shaped sword.

Maybe that is what Soul Eater is?

Like maybe what happened is Riku had the power to manifest his heart into a physical form, a keyblade, given to him by the ceremony. However at the time his heart wasn't strong enough to use this power but that night Sora and Riku's hearts connected. From that connection the strength of their shared hearts manifested as one single blade, the kingdom key a physical manifestation of the strength of their joined hearts. But then this keyblade didn't really "belong" to anyone, it was a part of both of them, and could be wielded and used by both of them. However because Riku was an actual chosen he had an edge and could take it away from Sora whenever he pleased up until Sora became the undeniably stronger one and the blade finally settled on Sora as its permanent master.

Now how this ties into soul eater is because that blade wasn't really Riku's chosen keyblade, it was Riku and Sora's a shared blade with no one true owner. So that left room for Riku to still manifest a keyblade uniquely his own, but he still would have not had enough strength on his own. Instead however Xehanort came to him and shared with him some of his darkness but when Riku tried to physically manifest that darkness what he got was just a regular blade instead of a keyblade, perhaps because Riku and Xehanort had a very weak bond so the power their darknesses generated was nothing compared to the shining power generated from Riku and Sora's bond. Much much later on Riku's heart would grow stronger and he'd learn to manifest the full strength of his heart not just the dark half thus creating WttD.

So then yes in theory the power could be used to manifest blades, keyblades, and the X-blade that's 3 different weapons only one of which is shaped like a key. But what about people who learn to draw the power of their heart out without the ceremony? Maybe then what decides the form their power takes is based on their memories/preferences/personality and so hearts are capable of manifesting all kinds of weapons. Perhaps that is why human nobodies gain the ability to spawn infinite weapons from the ether like Axel's chakrams. But once Axel was given the ceremony it was no longer just his heart but the power of the ceremony that shaped what manifested, and so we got a keyblade made with his chakrams.

Of course that's all just theory making there is no concrete truth one way or the other.

It actually said 100年以上, which pretty much translates to "over 100 years" ago.

They've made it a point to mention that X happened in the "age of fairy tales" a couple times (in X/Ux, XBC, BBS), so I think that timeline was meant to be taken as a light estimate.

Indeed, they also mention it in DDD yet again.
I personally think it is also moot/missing the point to try and place an exact number of years here as
1. it being called the "age of fairy tales" and being counted even by pretty old people like Yen Sid, Eraqus, Kairi's grandma and Xehanort as the stuff of "legends" indicates that it was very far in the past and not just two or three generations ago.
2. The Realm of Sleep and it being situated "outside of time itself" providing ample hooks and connection points to connect the present day with the x[chi]-era regardless of how far in the past it really was.

We do not have any confirmation yet but it is certainly possible that the events and characters we see in X[chi]-browser version, Unchained X[chi] and even Back Cover are not actually the genuine events set in the real distant past but dreams/memories of them playing out.
