Also, I think that's them going all Nobody in the first place. I think that scene is when the Organization is formed.
Mayhaps AX got pissed off, finally summoned his Keyblade, and in a fit of rage Nobody-ized those folks? I mean, he did seem pretty irritable in Blank Points...

That makes sense, because when Xehanort stabs Braig, he seems shocked. So maybe it will come out that none of the apprentices, except Xehanort himself, willingly turned themselves into Nobodies. Maybe Xehanort also did something with their memories to make them forget he used his keyblade to unlock their hearts by force.
