I think it should be Sora, Donald, Goofy, Ventus, Aqua, Mickey, Roxas, Kairi, Axel/Lea and Riku. Like a GTA style where you play as a Sora then it switches to Ventus?

The seven lights against the thirteen darkness. Sora (soon to be Master), Riku (Master), Kairi, King Mickey (Master), Terra, Aqua (Master) and Ventus; speaking of keyblade wielders there also is Roxas, Xion, Lea aka Axel, Yen Sid? So you can almost reach thirteen lights  I think Eraqus (Master) set foot on Terras heart, right?
I like the idea of switching between characters, it would be awesome!!! Imaging using the each guardian of light in that final clash against the thirteen darkness. Master Sora vs Master Xehanort has to be an unique and epic battle. I saw an old post that said no Keyblade graveyard but most probably that's where KH will open, at the fated place, where it was once plunged into darkness (I think).

I don't see Normura making it to where you switch to other players in the final battle since he said KH3 really does revolve around Sora. That said, I really hope that you can play as the other characters in some way. Maybe a multiplayer function like in 358/2 Days, that'd be amazing.

Disagree. That's exactly nomura's style and it would be silly to only play as one of the lights during the big showdown. Remember when we played as Riku for two seconds in KHII? I'm definitely expecting a similar situation in III

Temporarily taking control of each of the lights at least once to give the final showdown something of a tag-team feel? Depending on how well they can choreograph the chaos, I'm up for that, as long as character switching doesn't involve fake difficulty or HP-based deadlines. Gets me every time with Data-Xemnas...

In any case, I'm hoping for at least one stage where there's copious amounts of back-to-back badassery, much like how Riku functioned throughout the final battles of KHII. Blocking lightsabers, setting up massive one-two strikes with skyscrapers, plus everything Eternal Session throws out if you felt like using it. If we could have something like that with all the Lights... yep, totally down for that.

Thing is, Nomura didn't design that Riku battle and actually had little knowledge about it until the staff showed him. It wasn't really "his style" in play there. Hopefully we will play as more than Sora. I'd like to get a full sense of the battle and I feel like we would miss that a bit if we only played as Sora (unless they make it so Sora gets involved in everyone's battle lol)

Okay that's true, but him not vetoing it and seemingly liking it gives me hope. Dear god, what a missed opportunity if Sora intrudes in every fight hollow bastion style. That is also a possibility

Not too sure what you're trying to say here, but are you possibly referring to that gauntlet of Heartless fights on that ridge, where FF heroes would fly in out of nowhere to help you on each segment? That was pretty cool too, but I don't really see it happening on the furthest stages of the final battle. Somehow, it doesn't seem flashy enough for Nomura's style. XD

That is exactly what I'm referring to. I can see a more flashy version of that happening but I really don't want it

I agree that it would be silly to play as only one of the lights during the final battle but I just don't see how they could do it in a way that the fight doesn't feel choppy. The Riku thing worked because it was just Riku and Sora against one enemy. This is going to be 7 on 13, I'll be amazed it they can make that work with a feeling of continuity.

Have all twenty people fighting simultaneously in the same arena. Cage match style.

It couldn't just switch randomly, that's for sure. If I knew for sure that everyone was going to be playable to a degree at some point during the battle, I'd bet that it would mostly be through scripted events that could be activated in some way, like cutting the boss's HP down to a certain point or knocking it off-balance. Of course, this is beginning to sound like reaction commands, which are already confirmed to NOT return.

Let it be at Keyblade Graveyard, which then goes to Destiny Islands, which then goes to Sora's Dive to the Heart.

Starting in the graveyard, going from place to place because reasons, ending on Destiny Islands as Xehanort dies in the prison he so eagerly left decades prior.

Bookended justice as delicious as sea-salt ice cream. Now I'm going to be disappointed when the actual game doesn't do something like this.

That would actually be a perfect way to end it. So long as they don't cause the same collateral damage that the last keyblade war did on all these different worlds.

I'd like the final battle to first start off in the Graveyard, where all 7 lights + Donald and Goofy are involved, then change to Destiny Island where it's just Sora alone vs Xehanort.

Also am I the only who is wondering how 7 characters can beat 13 characters? It's a pretty uneven match. Hopefully other characters can help out like Donald and Goofy.

The point of both sides fighting eachother has nothing to do with one conquering the other. The simple act of them clashing is Xehanort's goal.

Yeah thank goodness reaction commands aren't returning. The thing with being able to play as different characters in the final battle, it's usually way too easy. The lights probably won't have the same moves as Sora so they would end up having dumbed down versions of themselves to be easy to control. It wouldn't be like a full on battle; it would be like knocking the boss off balance or something like you said. So, if it isn't a full on battle, and reaction commands aren't returning, then what the heck are they going to do?

This exactly.
The whole thing is not about "beating" or "killing" anyone at all. It is the clash between them that is the overall goal.

In fact for the restoration of the X-blade all 20 elements need to be still there or it would not work.
Now when the formula Xehanort came up with this time is indeed the correct one and the X-blade is truly restored, what comes after this is the big question mark and what will probably decide everything (this being also most likely one of those points where Nomura decides to throw in one of his infamous double/triple-twists).
If everything goes how Xehanort wants it, the restored X-blade will cause a call to all Keybladers still in existence and hopefully (in his eyes) reawaken the greed to obtain it, thus resulting in the start of a second Keyblade War which will wipe out the whole universe again.
That is the obvious thing, the thing that is also stated in the prophecy and since Nomura hardly ever goes with the obvious thing, it is one of the options I'm expecting in the least to truly come about.
