As I've said, I will accept this challenge. Except the rules stated that only ranked members may judge ranking matches. So unless there has been an exception made for this battle, Psychokinesis can't be a judge.

As for a location, however cliche it may be, I choose for the battle to take place in the downtown of a small city. The terrain will be expected of such a place. Space will be a bit cramped, pedestrians will, once the fighting starts, be scared s***less, and plenty of buildings and cars and such to be ignited by whatever powers our characters are capable of mustering.

My character will be up once I've done a bit of tweaking.

It seems I overlooked that. It's been replaced with ???. Since this is already down, we might as well place our templates while I go back to the drawing board on a judge.

EDIT: Well we have our judge now. Only awaiting templates for use now.

Since the character is need of some breaking in...

Name:
Xander Machylak

Age:
22

Gender:
Male

Physical Appearance:
anime19.jpg picture by Dark-Angel-Ly - Photobucket

Weapon:
Xander wields a pair of tonfa, forged by his agency out of a titanium alloy, making them lightweight, damage resilient, and corrosion resistant. The shafts of the tonfas are lined with a series of studded spiked rings, and the ends on the longer portions of the shafts have been crafted into spear-like tips.

General Element of Power:
Energy

Abilities:

The power of Xander is centered around the ability of Ergokinesis, an ability to manipulate raw physical energies of the body, as well as their effects on himself, and others.

Perpetuus Navitas:

The base upon which Xander's power is set is in the natural, yet odd condition of his body to simply create energy for itself to use. As his body creates energy in excess, that energy is stored away by yet to be discovered means, and is reserved for later use. The excess reserves of energy can be summoned by Xander at any time, and under most circumstances. Given his condition of constantly having energy manifested by his body, he can reach a level of stamina that allows him to, potentially, fight constantly.

Perpetuus Motus:

The primary close range attack set utilized by Xander. Through focusing his stored energy into the motion of his body, he achieves levels of agility that far surpass that of a normal human being, as well as most non human beings in existence. Most people who have witnessed this ability have asserted that when is use, Xander's moving body parts appear to simply vanish in their motion. What's more, the levels of agility that he achieves through these enable him to achieve a state of perpetual motion, stringing normally unconnected maneuvers in a seamlessly smooth fashion. As can be expected of anyone capable of such motion, his body is well used to, and highly resistant to the strain placed upon it. Such a condition becomes even more advantageous, as his resistance to strains enable him to resist strains put on his body by foes.

Navitas Inflexus:

Furthering the utilization of the excess potential energy stored within him, and his connections to raw energy in general is his ability to output his own energies in more unorthodox manners. Building on the Perpetuus Motus, he is able to create energy outputs of such power, that he becomes capable of flight, and levitation over short distances. Building even further unto Navitas Inflexus, is the ability to channel stored energy into concentrated rays, beams, and blasts. While not quite as powerful as blasts forged of energies of a supernatural nature, he is compensated in this respect by the fact that Perpetuus Navitas rectifies the issue of running low on energy for use in such attacks.

It is also through Inflexus that Xander interferes with the physical energies of others. This works primarily, and almost exclusively on the output of energy used in physical attacks. In such situations, it appears as though Xander taps into the energy of his opponents, which isn't an entirely unfathomable notion, though not the truth in these cases. The energy put into such attacks is simply negated by an output of energy on Xander's end, the creation of an unseen pulse, which acts as a shield, reducing the force behind strikes from an opponent, and at times, stopping them dead in their tracks.

Bio:
Much of Xander's own past has been erased by the military, effefctive following their capture of him at age 18. What was known of him at the time was that he had lost his parents as a result of a random drive by shooting, and has younger sister fell ill to a disease. When captured, he was promised by the government that they would cure his sister if he agreed to allow them to use him in a series of genetic tests, which resulted in his gaining of his powers today. Hesitantly, he agreed, and was sent into a state of "hibernation" as he was worked on. When he awoke, many of his memories were wiped from the foreground of his mind, and it has been hinted that he no longer remembers any of his family. It is not known if his sister ever received the cure to her affliction.

These days, Xander is used by the military as a weapon against the powerful new threats to world order, and as a bounty hunter, put on loan to other nations to eliminate dangerous individuals, and groups. He is a moneymaker for his nation's government, and his nation. He is constantly trying to escape from his regrettable life as a tool for a largely corrupt ruling body. At times, his unconscious mind often catches memories of his past in his dreams. Yet he realizes more with every mission he completes that there is no escape from the life he has landed himself in.

Now for my template.

Name: Gabriel "The Grand Marshall"

Age: Appears in his 20's

Personality: The description of this man's self is not a simple matter. To call it as such is ignorance of the highest magnitude into the workings of the human mind. A simple description of such naiveté would be that he possesses a split-personality. This is no fact, no reality into the temperament of Gabriel. A complex individual, his personality is not set in a true fashion, as his nature states. The simplest description that can be truly given is this: he is both Light and Darkness in the same moment. His abilities reflect the duality of his individuality and character. Very few traits are not subject to this state.

Appearance: At 5'11, Gabriel's height is average for a human being. His hair being the color of platinum, he is sometimes mistaken for a middle-aged male. The eyes are colored in both a fluorescent and calignous blue. The skin has a healthy hue, though, at certain times, Gabriel seems transparent, as if he were not truly solid to begin with. For clothing, he wears a vermilion capuche(Cloak w/hood) embroidered with a gold fabric. The rest of his upper body is unfortunately hidden by his cloak. His lower body is outfitted with customized jodhpurs and a pair of brogans(A type of boot).

Armaments:

Imperial Sunrise: The final form of the Dawn Reaver class swords, it is a beautiful sword created in the manner of an alternative cousin to Damascus steel. Crafted in a superior manner to most swords, it is capable of dicing inferior metals without reinforcement. It's main capacity is energy: the storage and release of such power. It is this basic talent that its other abilities derive from.

Jewel of Naught: A completely different kind of blade from Imperial Sunrise, it is Cimmerian crafted, made not of metal, but a different substance entirely. Both the substance being extremely rare and difficult to manipulate and the technique being highly laborious to perform in creation makes it the only weapon of it's breed. Gabriel found the Jewel within the coldest chamber of one of the realms of the dead. It's true nature remains unknown with exception being the craftsman who produced it and Gabriel himself.

Biography: Man, soldier, tactician, master, survivor, brother. Those are some of the titles that the anamoly known as Gabriel can be called by. Having died at a young age, he is a special being, rare throughout the entire realms of existance. Surviving the flood of Earth by the demons of Hell and the removal of an Earth by the being Valyon Lightstar, he has grown stronger through it all. However, his original goals had been fufilled. His remaining loved one had been saved in his push to escape Hell. The people he has most cared for in his journey in this existance have been helped, but still he remains living in this form of life. Missing for a time, he spent it as a wanderer, observing his surroundings throughout the trip. Now he returns, his new purpose set.

What are his intentions? What reasoning would concede such an allowance in the first place? The tale is boundless in nature with ties to the realms before; memories of what was and is now. Rememberances of the aged reality for the remaining forces from that existance. It be that piece of history that attracted Gabriel and distracted him from recent events of the past three years.(2/15 paragraphs)

As you are the higher rank, the opening post is yours to craft.

Through the chaotic hordes of pedestrians, and traffic crowding the compacted city streets, a man stood out among the hundreds of others. In this part of town, occupied by the business goers, and social elites, he was as many would describe simply as "not belonging in the picture". So much so that even a toddler could have pointed him out amongst the masses of his "peers". Everything about him, so vastly different from his company, he earned himself a look of disgusted fear from nearly ever person he passed by.

Graced by the presence of suites, ties, dress skirts, and gratuitously expensive sports coats, a man adorned by dirt cleansed, skin tight leather could hardly be considered commonplace. Nor could his rough, largely unkempt mop of hair, which drooped down lazily over his eyes, or the wild main of a beard he had let spawn from his face, and even less so, the two twin weapons he carried idly upon his belt. Yet still, this appeared to be far from the reason his curious onlookers took their time to stare at him.

Their gazes seemed to be most attracted by his movements, which were unlike any of their own. Not that any of the motions he was making at the moment were impossible to achieve, but that they, unlike the droves of sheep people, did not conform with the standard set by the others around the man. It was the sheer fact that he was running, surrounded by hundreds of others that merely opted to walk, and that his running, to those others, had no purpose, or logic behind it. He was, to their eyes, running towards, nor from anything.

Xander new these looks of displeasure far to well to give a care to them. Each awkward glance was simply thrown aside as fodder, and he kept running. The nature of his work bound him to running in times such as these. The mission was all that mattered in his mind now. Neither the people, nor the terrain counted for anything in his mind. Despite hating the reason for being in his job, he had at least found... satisfaction in it. The thrill of the hunt, and the euphoric rush of a battle offered the only distraction from his reality. And why he had to run now... Xander wasn't all in this city that didn't belong.

Xander was somewhat accurate in his assessment of the situation. Only there was an unfortunate matter that Xander, in his conditioned mind, was incapacitated in understanding: in no way did this 'unbelonging' individual would have been a threat towards Xander's corrupt masters at this time. This being who Xander believed himself to be the hunter epithetically. All the same Xander would realize that the roles were in truth reversed; he would be the one attempting to chase the pursuer.

The target concerning Xander rested atop one of the lofty heights of the skyscrappers eyes lazily glancing down below at the mass of humanity seemingly walking with purpose below. An archaic stare at the people who performed what was accredited religion beyond this realm. What truth was there to placing a burden upon thyself? To destroy oneself for the sake of a dreary societal automaton which only fouled the world in which it took place?

Behind the Marshall, groans of agony could be ascertained with the sense of hearing alone. Live bodies laid sprawling on the concrete in different positions. All wore the uniform of the agency which 'defended' this Earth from foreign 'invaders.' In theory, this bureau was a capital brainstorm, in line with similiar thinking that the tactician had installed in Benevire.

However, it was also utterly inverted from what Gabriel instilled.

The 'agents' who had been sent earlier were caked in dirt when each had been sent to combat. Bland eyes that had no shine to them, no sense of self could be discerned in any manner of form. Soldiers of conformity, tailored belligerents inured to the sense that they were no more than tools to be used by the predominant superiors. With experience observing the fruits of such labors, Gabriel knew this aspect would eventually remove the project from memory. Until then, all that could be done at that moment in time was to repair the damage in place with as many brainwashed victims as possible.

Brooding with those thoughts, the next sent sufferer was noticed sprinting under the shadows of the tall buildings. Gabriel's own hidden features scruntized the figure so in tune with the healing minds above. The capuche which he donned fluttered in the breeze as the Marshall awaited detection.

The last word heard from the advanced team had made several points clear to the agency. The first, and now, most pivotal point of information taken from the transmission had been the last known location of the labeled threat. The position in question was at the top of a skyscraper, now not far from Xander's place within the city's cliche design. The building itself, as the people that walked in and out of it, was a masterpiece of conformity, standing out little amongst its many peers. It was separated in nature by but the mere fact that it stood slightly taller than the rest. This small hint of nonconformity permitted the hunter to find himself at the back door without really having to even look closely at the structure itself.

Craning his neck, standing just three or so feet away from his destination, he thought deeply of how he would choose to traverse the height. While there were several viable roads to take to meet these ends, there was only one that he wished, deep down, to take. He could have simply spanned the height of the building in flight, a feat well within his grasp at this point in time. Yet this, he felt, would, as the least likely path to tread, be the most obvious one to take. The stairs, on the other hand, were of such an obvious nature, that the thought of a hunter of his caliber being kindly, and making use of them, would, to one who knew of him, as he hoped his prey would, seem a largely unlikely occurrence.

Fancying himself clever, even for this blink of an eye in time, he creaked the rusted, flaking back door open. The grind of metal echoed through the silent, deserted stair well, lit by spotty, flickering florescent bulbs swinging idly this way and that. He now stood at the foot of a set of cement forged stairs, covered from just overhead by a haze of dust remaining from the forgotten persona of the particular section of the skyscraper. Craning his neck yet again, he measured the approximate distance he would have to cover. Seventy-Nine floors to the top, and god knows how much time to get there.

Not without a quick stretch of his legs, almost pointless in its brevity, Xander started his way up the comparitively behemoth manifestation, each footstep that hit the ground resonated off the concrete walls like a gunshot, calling out through a sprawling mass of forest. Twenty floors up, not nearing tire from his workout, he continued to push his way up to the top floor, and the roof. Forty floors up, his sweat began to cloud his eyes, though the condition of his body kept him from truely tiring. Sixty floors, nearing the top, he slowed his pace, making good of the time he had. He was in no rush to return to his life off the job.

Reachin the top, he found himself faced with an unexpected well wisher of sorts. A tanned whitte, bladed man, adorned by a black suite and tie, stained in blood, and torn to the point of being almost passed recognition. Clenching his gut, the man looked up at Xander with a weak grin.

"So, you think you can take 'em Xan?" he weezed out.

"I hope I can. And let's keep it at that."

"Well then, you might as well just stop here and go home. He took us all down in a few seconds. The others are pretty musch in bad pain, and I'm probably gonna die soon as it is."

"Then this'll be a tough job. I'm on it."

'So you're just gonna leave me here?"

"You already said you were going to die soon. No point in gettng you anywhere now."

Leaving the disappointed graon of his dying "comrade", Xander forced open the doorway leading out to the roof, grippinf his fists into each other with a readiness only seen in him at these crucial points in time. The light out here was beyond being more sufficient then the light within the stair well, and for a brief moment in the pure lighting of the sun, he went blind, and regained sight in the span of a moment.

The first moment of clarity in terms of contact for Gabriel came to be at the first opportunity in which his stalker was still. As the young man paused a yard from the Marshall's bearings, his individual introspection ran on a simple tangent: What possible path would be taken? Possible gambits and strategems were reliant upon the earliest actions the adversary would perform. If one only abided by stereotyping, the limitations were endless and combat potential suffered. His position a figurative godsend that blighted the witless order of this Earth.

"The MEB had been a dream project for one Arturo Maniza. During this time, such activities were actively pursued by the old oppressive order. Maniza, as a child, was one who abhorred the old order with the venomous vigilence a true citizen would pride over. Absorbing the styles of previous artisans, he designed the most unique building to ever be concieved by the human brain. It is the art of perfection, the act of the collective."

Standard propaganda for deprived militants.

The musings were cut short with the decision of the young one. An intriguing one considering the usual brash stupidity plaguing most. Instead of 'I am blah blah blah, and it is time for you to die' scenario, a stealthier approach was utilized with entry into the skyscrapper via the back entrance. More than likely a need to keep reality hidden from the flock and interesting ruse as well.

This one has more intelligence than the vanguard, that's certain.

The slight mental praise gave way quickly to an earlier truth: since the agents consider themselves tools to the state, they will make mistakes that individuals with a sense of self would not make. Drumming his fingers slowly along the edge, Gabriel focused his will along crafting a soft golden band along the entire roof edge. Due to the sun, this would not be noticed immediately even by one aware of his surroundings in a unique fashion. To one whose thought processes was cramped by tunnelvision, it was esentially invisible. As this was done, Gabriel continued to trace the hunter's progress.

The next decision was also refreshing as well as revealing.

Now he decides to use the stairs...maybe this one is unique after alll.

However, what piqued the interest of Gabriel more was the speed which the lone wolf was progressing...

Twenty...

The vibrant motion that was in enxibition by the gentleman caused a familiar tingle on his fingertips which preceeded the summoning of a well-known blade.

Forty...

Though against his will, Gabriel instinctively gripped the hilt of the Sunrise as it materialized in hand. A development that was rarely experienced was enough to comprehend the capacity of the good sir was tied to energy.

At sixty, the male presence slowed considerably. To Gabriel, judging from what he had gleamed during the 'interrogation' of the frontal force including other assumptions, that could have meant anything. It would come to the commanding forces left within the confines of the MEB to rot. Only the experimented agents were left without.

At last, the battle was close at hand with the representative. The instinct that remained one with him flared at his proximity on the 80th story. He was so near that his voice could be discerned.

"I hope I can. And let's keep it at that."

Lowers expectations, limited conversation value. Rising from his seated position, the jangling of metal muffled by the capuche.

"Then this'll be a tough job. I'm on it."

Enjoys a challenge to his ability. Dematerialzing Imperial Sunrise and smoothing his capuche.

"You already said you were going to die soon. No point in gettng you anywhere now."

Indifferent to friend. Has no concept of comradeship. The slightest hint of a sardonic smile on the revealed section of his features as the doorway opens.

(Now the true duel begins)

At the very first, the most startling aspect of the peak placed under observation was the complete emptiness. Nothing material could be observed but the corroded door and tiled surface area. The entryway crafted into a cube shape had been worse for wear over the decades due to lack of use for the area itself. Atop the die, pigeons cooed incessantly in their own patterns. Flower fragrances clung upon the pregnant air in expectation of what was to come.

Vision returning quickly in his eyes adjustment to the far more suitable lighting in the outdoors, Xander took the first moments he had to observe what had preceded his arrival. It was with a smug look plastered across his face, that he shook his head in utmost disappointment at the blank area around him. It would be just like the agency to lead him awry like this. There was nothing upon the roof to indicate the struggle that had purportedly preceded Xander’s arrival. Yet the orders and coordinates had been clear, and accurate. This was the building upon which the target had been engaged.

Exercising caution in a manner not entirely akin to his normal mission mindset, he backed up closer to the door through which he had come. Nothing about his setting was of comfort to him, and the need for escape in the event of an ambush was called for. Eyes darting from side to side, and in each other feasible direction, his adrenaline rushed, and his body began to shake. There was something at work, throwing off his perception, though exactly what it was was unknown work to him.

Convinced of the need to draw out is prey, he threw open the door to the stairwell which slammed against the concrete wall inside. The door held its spot, and Xander made his way forward, still cautious, and still anxious, and even a bit fearful of his situation. As an eagle on the hunt, he prowled along the edge of the roof, turning his head from the edge to the center every few seconds.

(It's time for OOC Corrections. As fine of a post as you have made, it is completely moot. Ignoring the last paragraph tends to do that. Once the repairs are done, I'll make my post.)

(And now a shorter post than usual)

Impressive.

Gabriel's compliment rang through his own mind, discipline preventing it to be released into Xander's own on the communication lnk he used to speak without sound. He knew that was the hunter's name from a list the leader of this group had in possession. Xander was the most successful; he was the main being on call for the hunt. The Marshall may have felt more honored if he weren't aware that this Earth would not be capable of handling any of the high manifestations. Most of the Earths under invasion in the past failed against the strongest the Omniverse had to offer.

What brought some renown for Xander was his awareness. His physical form had a cautious edge as if something felt off of the situation. Whether he deduced or was capable of detecting no matter how insignificent, it was enough to bring a small smile on his face. Furthermore, it appeared that he would have done the more intelligent action and waited just inside the door. That would have forced a change in plan. How unexpected that the hunter would make a fatal error so early? He had made the door stay in position: a gaping portal for escape.

Four summons had been called on the field for this battle; the first was known as Krysa. Materialized in the shape of the oceanic squid, Krysa was capable of flight in the pelagic heavens. This ability was only secondary to it's true purpose: the conception of true illusion at it's apex. A normal being would never escape the fantasies of Krysa. Neither would this poor boy entering against an opponent that would not be understood as easily as his other targets.

Krysa's illusions allowed Gabriel to remain unnoticed thus far. It would continue to work as the echoes of his footsteps were suppressed by the delusion until he took position within the building. Slowly, his hand grabbed the door and pushed it forward a few degrees. To Xander's eyes, it would appear unchanging. When the handle could be taken in hand, Gabriel slammed the door shut and sealed it off from escape. At that moment, all would be unleashed outside.

To Xander's left, an explosion materialized just inches from his side. This in itself was no more than illusion, but it would seem real to Xander. Enough time has been made for Krysa to familiarize itself with the target. Alone, it was formidable. Yet it was truly a powerhouse in union with two other summons. Those two had done their work and a small laugh could be heard by him. A voice he had not heard in two years would echo within his eardrums.

Long time no see.

(Yes I went there.)

A winner needs to be determined, now. Chromatic_Chaos hasn't replied in more than two weeks and KHFanatic4565 has used this inconclusive battle as a method of delaying challenges against his own rank.

Although I am not an official judge of this match, I'm going to cast my vote as a ranked member. KHFanatic, from what I can observe, is the clear winner. His opponent hasn't made a response in several days, despite being present on the forum and making several posts in other threads over the last week. Nor has he made an attempt to explain the absence of a response. I think this has gone on long enough.

I'm hoping that one of the official judges will see this and run with it. I'm more than a little irritated with the way this has progressed.

(Yes, I was going to accept defeat here anyways. I was trying to think up something, but at the moment, a bout of writer's block, and a bit of uncertainty of how to handle the current situation in this battle has hindered me. KHF has my spot in the ranks).
