My point still stands in that it'd be weird for the English side to care when the Japanese doesn't.
I disagree.

In Japan, the culture around voice actors is pretty different -- it would be less weird if the voice actors in the localized KH were trained seiyuys and able to do more than one voice.

I have a hard time believing, for example, that Willa Holland would make a great Paine. But Megumi Toyoguchi can do both no problem. In the case of the list I'd quoted above, I was trying not to pick it apart to be overly pedantic, however if we must: I don't believe Madison Davenport is capable of creating a Strelitzia that sounds different from the Nameless Star.

Both of them are likely going to be in KH4 and as far as we know they have nothing to do with each other, they don't look alike (unless we're all being mislead and Nameless Star ISN'T the girl from Verum Rex) -- there is no reason why they should have the same voice actor.

In the case of Jessica DiCicco, she no longer plays Olette and has a fantastic voice, so it would be nice to see her, or hear her, return to the series. However, Vor is the baby of her group, and I was told and have it on very good authority that Hayner, Pence, and Olette's original voices did not reprise their roles because SE thought they sounded too old now. (At least one of them re:auditioned for the role for KH3 and lost it to the replacements). So I don't think they'd ask Jessica to come back to play a character who's portrayed as the young one of the group.

The KH games try to flex with the English voices because they can cast more household names, and they enjoy doing that when they can. They wouldn't rob themselves of the opportunity to grow that cast for PR and prestige purposes if they can help it, especially with so many actors already pulling intentional double (and sometimes triple) duty. It's simply not the same.

I'd say this particular issue could go either way... I understand that they like to diversify the English cast, but KH3 alone had Luxord and Davy Jones voiced by the same guy mere seconds apart like my dad dressing up like Santa to trick me, and we also have two flavors of Corey Burton speaking in exposition as Yen Sid and Ansem the Unwise. Of course these are both situations with Disney casting crossing over with KH original casting, but the fact that it occurs and no one takes issue at least cracks the door for the reprisal of specific performers.

You guys have got me engaging in good faith in a debate that I am not at all passionate about, slow news year.

I should have been more clear, I was only talking about KH original characters.

I hate to be a stickler bud but you've forgotten the brief period of time where our only voice for Young Xehanort was David Gallagher!
Aw damn. They clearly didn't regret that at all. Certainly didn't remove David as YX in the Re:Mixes. Nothing to see here.
