Chapter 14 - Eternus Ignis

8D

The Chapter title alone made me so excited and happeh <3.

Cinollex's and Charaxai's scene was such an atmospheric read, I had to go and reread it again, cuz that's how awesome I found it. Joe-kun you're really getting good in this :D

Xenjin's and Xanele's stage is heating up XD, I can't wait for the upcoming fight scene 83. Though I can't help but wonder who's the one throwing the fight at them x3.

Do I need to mention my favorite part :p, I love the way you started rooting up a background and story about Noraxeen's element <3. I can't wait to see what you have in store :D. So goooooooood !

You kids are so lucky to have me.

Chapter 15 - A Stone’s Throw Away

Brixan was pretty sure this was a good sign of where those targets were. He had identified Xenjin and Xanele successfully without putting a bolt through their heads, and figured that they would serve as fine bait. Not to sound malicious or anything; they just may as well lure the enemy members in while lounging around. Killing two birds with one stone. Scanning the area over and over, one of his fowl targets, finally showed up, near the market where the girls were located.

Oh. Oh man what is he doing. Brixan thought.

He was throwing that cart.

How is someone even that strong it is stupefying.

He was using one hand.

Okay bait time to move the bird has his eye on the worm!

Brixan was readying his stone.

~~~~~
The situation was worsening up ahead, in front of the Nobody Xoje was chasing. He could tell by now that it was Xanele deflecting the plethora of odd objects being thrown at her, by the vibrant colors of lasers trying to meet said objects. They were being lobbed straight at her, and how she had the power to keep blowing them up he would not be sure at the current.
What is she doing here? Is Xenjin there too? What the hell have they been up to…
More importantly, was that one guy doing all that? That is a really bad thing that will no doubt continue to be bad in the future. Bothering him further was something he noticed in the corner of his eye; a number of things, in fact. Xoje paused at the edge of a roof to look up. Brixan was still in his place, and had started firing upon the very adamant thrower down below. That would keep him off Xanele’s back, good, but now this woman he was going after was getting awfully close to the market.
He hurried back into action, jumping away his perch to a much lower building, grunting. She was going to try a sneak attack, he knew it. He had to stop her before then. His legs moved vigorously to bring him in a semicircle around the blonde Nobody, so that he could get a good angle without being seen. It irritated him how hard he was working to stay secretive. The little effort it took to muffle out his footsteps was even starting to add up. It was now taking an almost mediocre amount of effort.
Soon, the counter-sneak attack was ready. Xoje could still see the ninja-girl, as if there was a need; he kept his ears on her at every moment, as well as the confrontation way ahead of him-
Shit, was Xenjin there too? What is happening.
~~~~~

A bead of sweat was finally starting to form on the forehead of the man doing all the heavy lifting. His breathing was still fairly calm though.

Of course he and his partner were aware of the sniper near the palace. The entire point of this scuffle was to draw out his attention, so that Serox could sneak up and snuff him out. Simple, really. Honestly, if you’re going take on two people you should prepare for this sort of thing, and it is pretty obvious these two- he grabbed a large plank and threw it- were never part of his plan. Not that they mattered, though. Just substitute the shooter with the redheads. Two birds with one stone; convenient in too many ways to count. After all, that one girl had one of those things on her arm.

Then Brixan, unable to know what was going on in the strong man’s head, began to fire on him. His sensitive ears picked up the silenced shots before a stream of acidic green, poison-tipped darts zipped through the air. Nearly out of things to pick up, he punched a hole firmly in the wall to his side. Some sand crumbled out, followed by the sound of cracking stone. Within a moment’s notice he had pulled a chunk out of the wall, and whipped it in front of him, like a shield. The crossbow bolts either embedded themselves in the hunk of bricks or bounced off harmlessly.

Not wanting to let him reload and unleash another storm of toxins, the serial thrower lived up to his reputation and put his whole body into a straight throw, twisting his waist and unbending his arm like it was a disc he was playing with. The stone hurled through the air like a bullet. Content with that, the large Nobody repeated the same punching procedure as before two more times, resulting in a pair of sandstone chunks headed for Brixan to cause more danger.

“Au revoir, d'oiseaux.” He muttered, breaking his stoic complexion with the slightest hint of a spiteful smirk.

~~~~~
Xanele was becoming worn out. The number and frequency of beams she had to shoot were draining her power fast; maybe faster than usual thanks to the gauntlet.
Compensating for being cornered, Xenjin decided it was time to strike back. She kepth herself close to the ground, and ran for cover behind a stand that had not been reduced to splinters yet. All that time, she was generating blobs of black, concentrated carbon that revolved around her arm and wrist. They condensed into diamonds with the clenching of her hand, and soon she was flinging her own bullets where Brixan’s had failed.
Explosions rocked the ground, lasers split the air with heated intensity, and unstoppable forces met immovable objects with chaotic and deafening results.
~~~~~

Enjoying a quieter time was Kurix, who-

“Is anyone here?!”

Maybe not ‘enjoying’, but more ‘participating in’.

He was surprised to find that no one was left at the mansion in Twilight Town. More surprised to see the big crater and holes in the walls? Maybe. The absences were actually more uncommon. Kurix was certainly puzzled to see that Xemnas was not even there; not in his office, nor any section of the basement. He felt pride take a hit. Surely Xemnas would have wanted to immediately hear of his findings at the castle. Not as if there was much to share, but…

Kurix wandered around the subterranean lab once more, hoping he overlooked some area. During this venture he figured it would be wise to check the origins and destinations of previously conjured Corridors on the tracker. The wide monitor flickered on with the flip of a switch, and he accessed the records. At the top of the screen, where the most recent Corridors were listed, was one headed out for “Unknown”. Interesting. The last one headed for Twilight Town from an outside world read “Agrabah”.

~~~~~
The mimic was completely aware of what both sides were thinking amidst the destruction, and he thought it was just plain hilarious. Only one guy was supposed to be here in the first place, and hope that some others show up, but then one comes and tries to find him, two more come in by mistake- what a blast!
But Dryxaim had come to find one of the original Nobodies in the equation. The girl running around over buildings, Serox, with her very special powers. They were uncharacteristic for a ‘villain’ such as she, but Dryxaim was disappointed in himself that he had not managed to get a hold of her ability by now. It may definitely would have made things easier for him when that witch with the bracelet brought him to his limit.
She would pay later.
For now, however, Dryxaim just needed to waltz on up to Serox. She seemed to be headed towards the market where Eastxi was bombarding a pair of brats with whatever he could find. Typical, barbaric; but what more could you ask for from someone like him.
He would take the low road to surprise his fellow Organization member. Dryxaim jumped down a wall into a street that had almost been abandoned. All he had to do was push a few people out of the way as he trailed Serox, keeping his improved ears on the swish of her hair and clomping of boots a couple stories up. The heightened senses were really beginning to work out for him, as long as he knew when to turn it off.
Then there was a loud crash of stone-on-stone, accompanied by a slow and tortuous grinding. Dryxaim was about to trip over due to the phonic chainsaw suddenly ripping through his head.
~~~~~

Brixan rationalized that this was a consequence no one could have predicted.

Wait, nope. Telling himself that definitely did not help as the rock came closer and closer at a frightening velocity. Before he could react though, the tower was shaking from the impact. Gritting his teeth, clinging to the wall with one arm, he attempted to align another shot, but to his immediate displeasure his line of sight was blocked by two more chunks of sandy rocks. This time he left his post at once, sliding down the tower by his hands and feet.

As the tower cracked and fell to pieces from the strength of the throws, Brixan hit the ground, rolling onto the sand to minimize pain. There was still some present, but there would be more if he did not escape the collapsing building on his heels.

Time to run, but he had to get to Xanele and Xenjin quickly, to save them from that man before he did more damage.

~~~~~
Dryxaim struggled to pull the sharp, metal teeth out of skull, until he decided to just turn off the powers. She was only up ahead anyway, and he would just cut her off when she went across that narrow alley. No hearing needed, just good old intuition.
He did not see the dust rising from the crash site, and only focused on getting to Serox in time. Trying his best to ignore the sounds around him, Dryxaim was soon in that alley, waiting for his benefactor to leap over. That is when he would go through with the very original idea of chasing that particular Nobody. Just a tap on the shoulder would imbue him with the power he needed, for now.
As if on cue, the girl was flying over him right when his injuries from before were starting to flare up.
“Well hello, darling…” He bent his knees to jump, but faltered.
There was already someone coming up after Serox whom he did not recognize. This person had a weapon out; a long brass-colored thing that looked like a lance. He was completely wrong with this observation, for what he did not know is that it was hollow and made for blowing air into. Air designated to blow stuff up. Usually to kill things. Occasionally it was just used for stabbing to simplify the process. Alright, he was going to use it like a lance anyway.
~~~~~

Xoje willed the mouthpiece to morph to a sharpened point, and pulled his left arm back almost enough to dislocate his shoulder. The pupils sitting in his orange eyes were glued to the black figure who ran without knowledge of her assassin. Xoje felt a rush, and with that adrenaline circulating through his veins, he heaved the bugle forward; it propelled out of his hand, right at the target. Unlike the shots made by certain other Nobodies in Agrabah, this one was a bulls-eye.

Serox let out a high-pitched yelp as the bugle pierced through her abdomen. Blood splattered on the white roof in front of her, and her body followed, sprawled out. Xoje slowed down, breathing heavy from the one-sided chase and sighing in relief that he had done something to protect the others.

He thought he heard someone whisper “Idiot” behind him.

Re: The ORG

derp oh shit better make it to the next page. it better this is the longest chapter yet

Chapter 16 - Faster

Xoje walked over to the corpse, pretty immodest about the whole killing thing, and pulled his weapon out of the woman’s back. A sick, sucking sound came with it due to the hollowness of the instrument. It was nothing new to him; he just shook some of the blood off.

But really, no reason to stick around glossing over an awesome kill.

He started speeding up, and looked upon the struggle that was quickly turning into a battle. Brixan had joined the fray, it seemed. There were things flying all around, wow. Bullet things to flashy things to little shiny things. The large number of objects included something pretty big, and bulky, which was

Okay wait now there is definitely a sound behind him.

Xoje whipped around without slowing his pace, and his weapon met another, weld by someone in a black cloak. Blonde hair dangled in front of their eyes and they glared at him with rage.

~~~~~
Finally out of things to throw, Eastxi had begun to run forward, dodging the continued attacks by Xanele and Xenjin. Inhuman strength lifted him above the ground when light beams and spears of diamond were crowding him. He jumped up, planting his feet to a wall before pushing off again and landing on a building off to the side, on all fours. Attacking from above would be easy, he mused, since they left themselves open.
He started running towards them, momentarily out of sight from the girls, which prompted them to start moving.
“Go up!” Xenjin shouted to Xanele, who was keeping her eyes on the roofs half the time she spent running towards the nearest building; a tall house that should serve as a safe spot. Xenjin quickly made it to the top, crystals forming and circling around her; all of them flew rapidly away, like a machine gun, to intercept Eastxi on the other side.
She jumped, and aimed her right hand at the top of the nearby building where she thought he was. A powerful beam, fueled by her will to get this man off their back, swept across a section of building, slicing off a whole corner at the top. Not knowing if it was a successful strike, she hurried to join Xenjin.
As it turned out, Xanele had barely come close to her target, and Eastxi only faltered when the energy blast missed him by a few feet. He seamlessly turned his attention to Xenjin though, who was unleashing her constantly-re-supplying stock of diamonds upon him. How irritating. It was a shame these two could not give him a run for his money.
He lunged across the street below just as Xanele managed to reach the top. Somehow he could carry such a frightening amount of forward speed even when having to go so high. Xenjin’s lance formed in her hand as she gave up on shooting, and she hoped to impale her enemy as he came down. That is, if he was not made of steel or something like she was steadily beginning to fear.
But before Eastxi could reach the girl, just as his head was visible from over the edge of the roof, the lunge was interrupted when a soft click sounded in the distance. There was a brief flash of bright green and Eastxi was suddenly clutching his shoulder, missing the timing to grab the ledge. He was out of Xenjin’s sight, and she looked behind her, seeing Brixan, crossbow still held straight. It remained directed past Xenjin even as she and Xanele regrouped with their ally.
“That was a strong one.” Brixan said, aiming down the sights. “It should keep him down for a while.”
~~~~~

“Is that it?” Jynx wondered aloud, walking towards the giant brass bell. He walked in front of Noraxeen’s fire, so his shadow curved on the old, round surface.

“Well, it isn’t blue. I think that’s a theme with these things.” She said, coming up next to him. It was darker outside, making it impossible to see. Even the flame in her hand was a dark shade of blue that made it difficult to spot details. Noraxeen placed her other hand to the bell, trying to find any abnormalities, to no avail.

“Anything?”

“No, but…Hmm.”

There was something there, without a doubt. Noraxeen circled, vigilant, lowering herself and standing on her toes to check ever portion of the bell she could. Jynx just watched, looking for any kind of reaction on the dull metal. He was starting to have some doubts.

“Hey, what if it’s like the Nobody and it just used to be here? Like, you’re only catching the trail or something- Augh!”

Jynx jumped, seeing a pair of feet under the bell when his eyes settled downwards.

“I found something.” Noraxeen called from inside. “Come on in!”

He joined her on the inside. What neither of them knew prior to their investigation was how these old bells in the Notre Dame cathedral would be lavishly decorated on the inside. This meant it was common to find things like gemstones encrusted where they could only be seen from below in a stunning and shiny display of colors and light. So obviously the shiny thing they were looking for was going to be in there. Why bother even inspecting the outside? That is incredibly stupid.

“It’s so pretty.” She said when Jynx joined her in the cramped space. Both were taken back by the sight of jewels and gold surrounding them, and stood back-to-back to inspect every inch of the interior. Unable to really crouch, Jynx was trying to bend his neck in a most uncomfortable way when he came face to face with…himself.

Because of course he was looking straight into a mirror. A perfectly round, circular mirror that was stuck between a ring of precious stones. There was a thin metal frame at the edge, and it was a soothing shade of blue. Jynx pressed his fingers to it, smudging the glass that was flawless in clarity. He felt like his hand might just go right through the mirror like a window. The only part that seemed dirty to him was a crescent shape, frosted onto the glass, that came along the side, like an eclipsed moon. Taken back by the sheer cleanliness and neatness of the mirror despite being stuck in such a dank place, he bumped into Noraxeen.

She struggled to turn around, and at least saw what her partner was so intent on. All she could see herself though was not the fascinating artifact but a blue aura rising off of it.

“You found it!” Noraxeen chirped, smiling. She pushed and shoved until she was even with the mirror, and placed her fingertips to its delicate frame.

“Careful…” Jynx warned. A part of him just liked the thing so much that he did not want to see it break in careless hands.

A blue glow slithered from Noraxeen’s hands, like a liquid, and filled in around the mirror. She stayed in place for a full minute, making subtle and gentle tugging motions. Soon she felt her fingers slip under the ornament it was held in her hands. Noraxeen turned it, flipped it around, and was surprised to see that it was not suited to be some ancient weapon of mass destruction. As far as she could tell it was just a plain old mirror. When she handed it off to Jynx to get a second opinion, he could not find anything strange either; his strange Keyblade endowment was not reacting in the slightest.

“That’s boring.” He said, disappointed but still taking care of the treasure.

The pair left the bell for the chance to stretch their legs and breath some fresh air. It was dark now, the sun having set while they were playing detective. Flickering torches, dotted on houses and at street corners below, provided the only sources of light. As Jynx held the mirror, him standing at a window, he noticed how his reflection could be seen even when the stars and moon could be the only things illuminating his face. The silver light he saw his face in relaxed him; the last couple hours had been stressful, and he realized he may have overreacted at a bad time.

A dog howled in the distance.

~~~~~
How this girl was alive was a pretty good question, but Xoje had little to no time to ask it or effectively receive an answer.
She was fast, probably faster then him, and swung her weapon at him with vigor and rage. It was a long staff, maybe about as long as Xoje’s own bugle. The material it was made of was odd, though; tan and hollow like a stalk of bamboo, but much more durable, evidently. Serox ducked, avoiding a swing of the instrument, and kicked out with a sweep of her leg. Xoje strafed back, but not even a moment after the woman was in the air, this time kicking at his face.
He brought the bugle up to deflect her by the shin, but she easily kicked the weapon out of the way and made Xoje stumble to his side. The onslaught continued, putting Xoje on the defensive, forced to block punches with his arms since his weapon was too preoccupied with the staff. After all, he would not be able to block the damn pike on the end of that thing with his hands.
Xoje couldn’t help but notice the very large, bloody spot on her stomach though. His bugle definitely had speared right through her.
~~~~~

Brixan assured him that the personally-created sedative he shot at Eastxi would be enough to take down an elephant, which he had actually done and therefore knew for sure. It was time go home and rejoice surviving such a hard and drawn-out fight.

But in a good epic story you can never have something drawn out long enough.

A gloved hand came up over the ledge on the far side of the building. They all had to question what that black thing was but they knew all-too well. Lifting himself by a single arm to his intended destination was Eastxi , who was looking straight at the crossbow Brixan had been flaunting. The accused Nobody gripped the handle of his gun and started loading another shot, hand tense.

“What?! Do you even know what was in that thing?” He whispered to them. Brixan had a look of legitimate shock on his face, accompanied by fear of any person that could stand that level of toxins in their body, Nobody or not.

Eastxi finished his climb and stood, cracking his knuckles and staring at the three opposite him with piercing green eyes. His hood had fallen off, showing his rough face with grizzled features. Hair, parted down the middle and jutting out at the sides, was dark brown. The skin under his unshaven face was fairly dark as well, tanned from so much work in the field. He watched with contempt as they summoned their weapons- rainbow cannons and shiny thing telekinesis and toxic medieval weaponry- and placed his hand to the crossbow bolt on the shoulder that had been shot at. Unflinching, he yanked the metal arrow from his body and tossed it to the side. So, they liked attacking from a distance this much, huh?

His right arm went up, perpendicular to his body; it had to be for what he was about to do. A very long shaft of dark gray light appeared in his hand, extending far off to his side. It then turned into black smoke, which whisked away, leaving Eastxi’s weapon behind. It was terrible-looking thing; some kind of claymore crossed with a tomahawk. Black with a silver hilt and edges, it was as wide as his broad shoulders, and about twenty feet long. A vein on his neck strained, popping out, but he showed no sign of weakness, holding it with a single hand.

He slowly brought his arm forward, making the disgustingly huge weapon swing forward ninety degrees. It was really, really close to the three Nobodies at the other side of the roof.

Yeah, this was his way of ‘shooting’ back.

~~~~~
Dryxaim had retreated, knowing it was useless to approach Serox right now. He remained close however, hiding behind a nearby tower. It gave him a leisurely view of both fights, and how his team was completely and utterly owning the other.
And since that was so dreadfully boring, his attention went to a hand he held out in front of him. He was now thinking about the Underworld, and that girl who carelessly threw him around like a doll. It was plain infuriating and he wanted vengeance. His pride called for it, since it pained him he could not follow up on hounding Charxai about his distracting arrogance of being the best. Was that irony? He assumed it was.
Dryxaim focused on it. Not the possibly-irony, but the want for revenge. Gradually, something formed around his hand. He thought it was mist, and he had screwed up, conjuring the brunette’s powers instead. But, no, this was something else. The white was thicker, brighter, and gave off a soft light. It was hard to tell in the sun, but when he cupped his other hand over, it was clearly pretty bright. Dryxaim remembered what had blown him against a wall not even an hour ago, and came to realize the indisputable; that he had successfully absorbed the girl’s powers.
Keeping the light there too long made him light-headed, though. He waved his hand around to shake it off, like it was something he spilled on his arm, and closed his eyes. When the dizziness wore off, they opened, and he was looking straight at the guy Serox was fighting. It bugged him how familiar he looked, what with those funky glasses. Not exactly the kind of eyewear you just imagine you saw before. He ran his day through his head, every person he had run into.
Then it occurred to Dryxaim that he had almost literally flown into that guy. He was the one at the mansion when Charxai and he were fighting. It made perfect sense; they were right next to each other! That had to have been when he took in the power. That had to be the one who gave him the sounds powers.
That had to be the one who was going to ‘help’ him with his plan.
*after everyone forgot this existed*
Chapter 17 - Outnumbered
How much could one do in such a situation? The intimidating and powerful beast staring you down with its claws drawn and teeth flared. Numbers meant nothing when physical strength of the allies combined was nothing compared to the
The claws and teeth here were represented by the impossibly huge sword, which Eastxi hauled around with more precision than someone with normal biceps could ever imitate. The group of Nobodies split apart on the roof in separate directions, avoiding the weapon as it came crashing down on the roof. With a loud crack, the building shook, and the stone it was made of began to split apart. Brixan escaped to higher ground, doing what he could to distance himself from his enemy, on a scaffold next door, and took aim. A barrage of poison-tipped darts zipped through the air; he figured that if one of his toxins could not put him down, a good dozen ought to do the trick.
However, the claymore was heaved out of the ground in a matter of seconds, and swung around in the wielder’s defense. The bolts were knocked out of the way like insects to a flyswatter. Eastxi kept the momentum of the swing, and lead his sword to the platform on which Brixan stood.
Even though he was above, the supports to his hiding place were not, and the flimsy wood and rope structure shattered. Brixan dived off, loading his crossbow as he approached the crumbling building he was on previously. What he came to realize was that he had time; the super-sized claymore was wedged in the wall behind the scaffolding, leaving Eastxi with the task of yanking it out. Xenjin and Xanele leapt into action, capitalizing on his weaponless state.
The darker-haired girl came from above, first. Her lance struck down on the man’s shoulder, and Xenjin could hear him growl in anger as his free hand grasped the end of the pole. With a clench of his fist it splintered into chalky bits of carbon, but the girl carried on, thrusting with the jagged remains of her lance. Eastxi was forced to switch between pulling on the hilt of his sword and avoiding stabs every other second.
Xanele saw that their enemy was stuck and that Xenjin was in trouble, so she went to her aid. The Power Glove lit up as energy channeled itself into her arm, and blasted out in a stream, amplified by the artifact. Xenjin backed off, but Eastxi remained in the same spot, gripping the handle on his blade and bracing himself. He took the bright stream of multi-colored light full-on, and he let out a loud grunt when the attack hit him in the chest. When Xanele let up, his cloak had been slightly roasted and he glared, only angrier as a result. He tugged, and the building off to his right began to crumble, the wide blade starting to budge.
They were running out of time. It was now or never if they were going to incapacitate this guy. Xanele continued her charge, and with her first couple of step forward she somehow used the complex technology on her arm to unleash the chain-bound dagger. She was not even sure how; it must have been some element of willpower. In fact, she had forgotten that the weapon was even loaded in there since the time they discovered it. Her precious glove was just arming her as needed.
Though it was still up to her to guide it, and she had absolutely no experience in that field. The chain went off at a wrong angle at the last second and harmlessly flew over Eastxi’s shoulder, and he, not liking that he was nearly impaled, grabbed the chain with his free hand and gave a great pull. Xanele was lifted off her feet, gave a short scream, and recovered, stumbling, forced forward as she lacked the willpower to discard her treasure for her own good.
As she was reeled in, Xanele went against all logic and threw a punch, charged with her rainbow light. It sparked and crackled and when she was close enough for her fist to make contact, there was a lick of flame from the touch of burning hot light on clothing. Eastxi let go of the chain and grabbed Xanele by her forearm, turning her in place, so that her back was to him. Simultaneously, his work had finally paid off and the claymore was pried out of the wall; most of the building it was stuck in fell as he brought it in front of him, menacingly. Brixan, holding up his gun, wanted to barrage the man with poison, but his teammate was standing in the way, held in place by Eastxi, as a human shield.
Punch, punch, stab, punch, kick. They were rapid-firing blows at one another, without any time for rest. As soon as Xoje’s punch was blocked by her arm, the other came around with fluid motion; it was a pattern that would not let up. Serox used her speed to sidestep with ease, with Xoje only catching her sudden movements with his ears at the last second. She was too quiet to keep a good tab on, which really, signified just how good a ninja she was.
This time she managed to go almost 180 degrees on him, delivering a horizontal blow to Xoje’s spine. With his bugle in a backhanded hold, he barely stopped her from paralyzing him. She snarled, just a little, wanting to get in and hit him at a weak spot. All she had managed to do was land some punches to his arms or shoulders or something but that was when he was blocking or just letting her hit him. Letting her hit him. She could tell it was not because he was taunting her, but because he had to let her hit him at some point since he had no chance of keeping up with her speed.
He was hardly fast, by her standards, Serox thought. The problem was that he could see her coming, somehow. Somehow. Even when she sneaked around and tried to catch him in a blind spot. She was completely unaware of what powers he may have. It could have been foresight like Xando, or maybe strength like Eastxi. Not to say that was an actual element or ability; it was just something that came with his package, per say. Even Xynras never had “super strength”.
But that was unrelated and too tangential and too expository to be useful to be thinking about at the moment. All Serox was convinced of was how she was going to outmaneuver his crazy prediction abilities.
Preventing him from moving at all felt like a solid plan. Pushing his weapon off with the use of both hands on her staff, Serox rotated about Xoje again, this time shifting to his side, and much lower. The sharp end of her weapon was poised in a great stabbing position, directed at his ankles. Before blood could be drawn though, most of Xoje’s weight was shifted to that leg, as his other left the ground. His knee came around and rammed into Serox’s jaw, knocking her sideways. Xoje took a few steps back for some breathing room, and regained a little of his composure, glad to not have the constant sensation of new bruises forming every other second.
Serox, on her hands and knees, spitting out a few drops of red, staggered to her feet. She wiped the blood off of her lips and cheek with the back of her hand, then took her chin in that same hand and cracked the whole lower portion of her mouth back into place. Any signs of swelling died away almost immediately. Even with healing properties, what she had in speed could not match her opponent’s stamina. A few surprise strikes were not going to cut it. She would need to buy some time until reinforcements came.
Watching the action scene play out, perched on the same spot, the corner of Dryxaim’s mouth raised just a bit. It brought him immense joy to see the blonde down there get her ass handed to her by someone who could put up with her incessant ninja crap. Then he turned his head, and checked out the little scuffle to his left. He had to admit that seeing the old man on the losing end provided him with some entertainment too.
Appropriately, Xanele acted against struggling, due to having the feeling that she would be snapped in half if she moved a muscle the wrong way. Eastxi’s arm was wrapped tightly around her torso and upper arms now, though, which restricted pretty much anything she could have hoped to do to escape. She looked at her allies, who were struggling themselves, as Eastxi hacked away with his behemoth of a weapon, enjoying a good deal of protection.
“Get him!” She called, not wanting them to lose on her account. “Don’t worry! Just get him, get him-”
Her shouts were cut short when Eastxi jumped in the air, turning, and manipulating his hulking sword so that it moved upward with him, at an angle with the building below. When he landed, the sword was still going from side to side, and cleaved into the stone below, splitting it, a huge rift forming.
Xanele lurched with her captor’s sudden and jolting movements, and could feel on her the straining of muscles that could only be described as mutant. She was very troubled that, even when they finally had the advantage of numbers on their side, they just could not take down this other Organization. It hardly made sense to her. They had people like Xemnas, Cinollex, Kurix, Xoje, and Jynx on their side, with abilities and talents that should be able to shine brighter than anything these guys brought to the table. Yet, these kinds of situations keep happening. What the hell? Skills, technology, brains, all on their side. It was just so wrong. It was three on one, so he should be outnumbered, not them.
And somehow this buildup of distemper towards the man trapping her against him and the guy with the robot arm and the guy with the orange shields and all the others was strong enough to be noticed by the fantastic piece of technology on her arm. It whirred and glowed and started projecting those crazy yellow holograms like it had before, and Xanele felt the energy course through her body. Eastxi did not notice the light show, as he was too busy blocking diamonds and poison darts, so she felt no danger in wriggling her right arm around until the clawed hand latched onto some part of his abdomen. It was only then that he realized something was up, but by then it was too late. Xanele discharged the Power Glove’s store of mystical energy, coming out as tendrils of electricity, color much like the light that would normally come out of her.
The shock was too much, and Eastxi let go of Xanele. He wanted to throw her off but every muscle in his body shuddered with uncontrollable spasms. The claymore fell from his twitching hand, and faded away before it could cause another tremor by hitting the stone. Eastxi doubled over, resisting the urge to emote his pain, and working to stay on his feet. A number of diamonds, flying at his head, nearly knocked him over. He glared at Xenjin through a wincing eye, and began to run, realizing that the tables may have turned, and he was the one who was finally outnumbered.
Brixan raised his crossbow and fired a few bolts towards Eastxi’s legs, hoping to stun him before he could get too far, but the electricity was beginning to wear off. The strong man was regaining his strength, and he leapt, high, narrowly avoiding the arrows. Eastxi landed on an adjacent building, and continued hopping from rooftop to rooftop, not looking back. Xanele stumbled to the edge of their building and held up her gloved hand. She wanted to do more damage.
Her body gave out though, and she fell before she could steady her arm. A hand came to her shoulder, lifting her up. Xanele had been drained by the gauntlet’s surprise attack as well, perhaps only a little less than Eastxi; her hair was sticking up in places form the static. As Xenjin helped her to her feet, Brixan was next to them, trying to follow the runner through his scope. Shaking his head, he lowered his weapon.
“He’s escaped through the market. I can’t see him.”
“A-Are we going after…?” Xanele asked, sounding kind of dazed and surly.
“Sure, after that success.” Replied the one holding her up, sarcastically.
“At least we know we can take him, now.” Brixan said. The crossbow disappeared in a green cloud and he crossed his arms, still looking out into the city. Xenjin rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, and we did it with just three of us!”
There was a silence. Mostly because they felt some truth in the sardonic statement she had made. They had no idea how any more of these people could equal that level of power, or be even stronger.
“Maybe we should, uh, go home.” Xanele recommended. “We haven’t seen Xemnas, and he was in trouble, so we should see if he’s okay.”
They agreed, and left the collapsing building quietly.
So, Frenchy was beaten. Hah! He would have to torment him about this later. A lot.
But now things were becoming pretty boring. Half of the good fights were over, and Serox was doing some weird stuff over here. The wannabe ninja was implementing some hit-and-run tactics, mostly using her staff from a safe distance. Dryxaim thought this was surprising and unlike her and she was obviously planning something.
Xoje was confused as well. It was actually easier for him to defend himself; there were longer gaps between assaults, and he could hear whenever she tried to appear behind him. He was considering going on the offensive himself, and given that his enemy was pretty pissed off from the face-breaking and holding back, it felt like the right move. The next jab that came at him was deflected by his bugle, but this time he forced her staff up, and Xoje rushed forward, punching her squarely in the shoulder. Serox was surprised, and cringed, feeling blood rush around in her veins as the wound formed then healed.
Dryxaim smirked. Were both of them seriously going to lose on this mission? Oh man. He was going to use those new ears to listen in on whatever the Superior was going to say to them about this. Eastxi could barely take down a bunch of girls and Serox was having trouble with just one guy. So inept. It made Dryxaim almost laugh that they would need help to fight these Organization losers, who should be even more inept than them. Did they need to team up like babies to do anything effective?
Unfortunately that is just what they were prepared to do.
Fresh from his failed encounter and from a brisk run through the market was Eastxi, leaping from the ground to the building Xoje and Serox were fighting on. The girl, sighing, backed off from Xoje’s attacks, landing next to her partner. They partook in wordless conversation, merely glancing at each other, and then set their sights on Xoje. Dryxaim looked at the scene a moment before his face contorted to an expression of disgruntlement and concern. He could, by any means, let them kill that guy.
