It doesn't disprove your point, but the way you stated it (at least the way I took it) is that people should never have expected a sequel in the first place because there is absolutely nothing that hints and/or states a sequel is happening. However, that statement about the voice actors that preceded the countdown, whether stated officially or unofficially still hints, the key word is "hints" at a sequel. Then it just so happen that only a short while after that hint is stated does a big countdown start that is supposed to announce something TWEWY. So I think that although butthurt people blew it out of proportion when they found out it wasn't a sequel is true, it isn't totally unjustified since there was that hint, and a hint, no matter how small can create hope, which can easily manifest itself into much more.
