I suggest all of you go back and play Kingdom Hearts 1 from beginning to end and tell me you don't miss party members, good hub worlds, shops, good minigames, puzzles, platforming, and a well constructed story with good world selection. And most of all "The League of Villains". I don't know about you, but I really don't like where Kingdom Hearts is going despite being caught up in the same hype everyone else is in. I am optimistic about DDD, But there's apart of me that's still very worried.

I suggest you play KH1 again and then go play an actual platformer. A lot of people like to heap praise on KH1's exploration/platforming, but honestly it was one of the most awkward aspects of the game, largely in part because the level design was rather poor. KH1 was just a rough game in terms of design in general, honestly. The subsequent games streamlined this all, which was a good idea, but the end result was also bad because it made the worlds bland and empty. What we need is *good* exploration. (Also, since when did KH1 have puzzles?)

And I thought dividing up the story was good because not only did it show various personal views, but different gameplay styles, varied stats between TAV, different commands, shot locks, and D-links accessible, etc.
no it wasn't

it's not a fundamentally bad idea but it was executed extremely poorly, it felt like 3 shitty stories instead of a single cohesive one, and the suggested order spoils things you shouldn't know until the other two scenarios

it also meant the worlds were short as balls, you spend like 10 minutes in any given world

First of all when did I say that splitting up the stories was good, I perfectly stated that, that was a bad idea and it made the story less constructed. and there were plenty of puzzles in Kingdom Hearts 1. Like The flowers in Wonderland, The Gizmo shop, the hollow bastian lower parts are a very good example, the shells in atlantica including the things in ursulas lair, the stones in the cave of wonders, trinities in general werent really puzzles but they added more to exploration and gave you a reason to re explore worlds, almost everything in wonderland now that i think about was a puzzle.

Not sure how most people feel about Wonderland, but I remember it being a drag and not being very enthusiastic about doing that world in particular. Same thing with the lower parts of Hollow Bastion, but that was mostly because it was a pain having to fight with just a wooden sword.

I can't remember much else since it's been a while from the last time I played KH1. As far as my recollection goes, they weren't complicated or hard puzzles.

I'll admit I do miss allies and those limits you could do in KHII to some extent, but I think the games have been rather fine without them so far.

It wasn't directed at you.

Deep Jungle would be a prime example of this. Jumping on those damn hippos was the absolute worst. The vine jumping wasn't any better and don't even get me started on Monstro.
