i was wondering a few things,

do we know who performed the keyblade inheritance with lea?
and the next two are mo speculation but,

1) you guys think that the requirements for time magic and manipulation should be explained a bit further? considering that merlin can wave his wand and a gate to the past can pop up, and pete oly had to complain real hard to summon a gate, it seems to me that xehanort sorta took the long way about. it.

2) you think xemnas used the chamber of awakening to contact YX aside fromtalking to aquas armor?

Well i don't think you need the Inheritance Ceremony to get a keyblade, though it helps.

1.) I don't think they will explain it since it isnt TOO big in the series. I haven't played KH2 in a while, but i remember Pete saying something about getting help from Maleficent to use the gate.

2.) If anything, it should be the opposite. If we are talking about a possible time in which YMX contacted Xemnas, it had to be when Xemnas was alone, so sure, they could have interacted in the CoA. I don't think Aqua's armor had anything to do with it.

From my understanding, you need a strong heart to be able to wield the Keyblade. Like Seighart said, I'm not sure if the Inheritance Ceremony is totally required for you to have it. Take a look at Vanitas. To our knowledge, he was not chosen to wield the Keyblade (unless it was performed by MX off-screen) and was able to due to his strong heart (albeit one of pure darkness). If it is to be totally necessary, then I would put a gamble on Yen Sid or Mickey [under Yen Sid's order] being one of the people to preform the Inheritance Ceremony for Lea due to noticing his strong heart.

Ultimania Scenario Mysteries said:
— So, in ‘The King Departs’, when Yen Sid said ‘great sorcerers and fairies have hastened the flow of time in a different place for you’…

Nomura: Upon request, those who can manipulate time, Merlin and the three fairies who appeared in KH2, changed the flow of time in a special place, and there Lea received hastened training in order to be able to use the Keyblade, basically. In the original scenario, we had planned to have Lea able to use the Keyblade when he ran to Sora.

Basically, Lea received training to wield the keyblade... Originally, he was supposed to have it before he saved Sora, but we see how it turned out ^_^

The one with Pete was freak chance... The methods of time travel for Merlin and YMX are completely different and as a result have completely different rules...

YMX's method of time travel involves casting off the body (which is contained by time) to be able to travel one direction in time per travel

Merlin's method of time travel involves magic... Not much to be said of it other than "It's magic" and the fact that Merlin is a powerful wizard

2) you think xemnas used the chamber of awakening to contact YX aside fromtalking to aquas armor?

No... I don't even see where you made that connection

As far as we know, under normal circumstances, you'd need to have a keyblade ceremony to wield. Only special cases permit you to wield without having to go through it, to which it's possible that Lea was a special case.

Well, it doesn't seem as if YMX discarded his body, if that's what you're implying.

Vanitas can wield because Ven can wield becuase he's half of Ven's heart.

The inheritance ceremony is a given prerequisite according to Nomura. Sora is the only person ever to wield the Keyblade without having gone through the proper ceremony, but that is now easily explainable due to his strong connection to Ventus.
And before someone (I don't mean you specifically) comes around again and fears that Sora might lose the Keyblade after Ventus wakes up: NOPE! Sora can still wield as long as the connection with Ven's heart remains.
It was not Sora allowing Ven's heart to sleep inside his own that granted Sora the ability to wield. Ven's heart going into Sora only allowed the dual-wielding.
Sora's heart was originally not suited/meant to be a heart to wield, but that changed already several moments after Sora was born because his newborn heart connected to Ven's heart to save it. That gave Sora's heart also access to the ability to wield a Keyblade (like a sort of basic, direct heart-to-heart-ceremony) due to how closely his heart is knit together with Ven's.
So even if Ven awakens and his heart leaves Sora, Sora will still be able to wield as long as the connection between him and Ven is not severed, which I can't imagine anyone of them both wanting.
Furthermore, the Keyblade itself (Riku's former one) choose Sora, not Ventus inside Sora (Ven already has a Keyblade, he doesn't need another), so it is even very much possible that after all this time and use of the Keyblade Sora's heart is by now itself fully qualified to wield.

Vanitas is a bad example though, as Vanitas' dark heart was originally born from Ven's heart. At the core of Vanitas' heart there is a shard of Ven's original heart which then grew (that was probably MX' doing, just like Terra, Aqua and Eraqus helped re-form Ven's damaged heart) into Vanitas's fully fledged dark heart.
Since he came originally from Ventus though, just like Roxas in regards to Sora, Vanitas can wield without any problems.

As far as we know, under normal circumstances, you'd need to have a keyblade ceremony to wield. Only special cases permit you to wield without having to go through it, to which it's possible that Lea was a special case.

I certainly don't see what's the fuss about that.
Why don't you just all use the most obvious choice instead of making Lea more special than he actually is. Sora is the only one to wield without a "proper" ceremony.
Lea came and asked Yen Sid to become a wielder, so the most easy and logical answer is that either Mickey or Yen Sid himself performed a Keyblade inheritance ceremony with Lea.

Not really saying that it's probable he was a special case, I'm just not shooting down the possibility. Honestly, I'm leaning towards him receiving the ceremony.

It seems like some people missed or misunderstood this:

—Were the 13 Seekers of Darkness, who were meant to be in different times, gathered by transcending time with magic?

Nomura: Just as it says in the story, to transcend time one must ‘first’ discard their form. As a result of the actions of the Brown Robed Figure, they all were in a state where they had gained the power to transcend time. The Brown Robed Figure explains the facts. The thirteen were summoned at the same time, this time thanks to Young Xehanort who borrowed that power. However, apart from Young Xehanort, that does not mean that all the members transcended time.

I guess I was right from the start. Due to BRF traveling back to YX's time without a body, he essentially gave his abilities to every form of Xehanort from then on.

^Pretty much that. If anything, I bet discarding your body applies to only the people of the present.

Or the first person that decides to transcend time. After that, whoever he/she wishes to transend time with him does so without fault.

From what I understand, Young Xehanort has the power to transcend time, but he has to essentially 'escort' his other selves - that's why he's always present whenever Ansem or Xemnas show up, until everyone is gathered together in the World that Never Was.

The interview questions also seem to indicate that when in the World of Sleep, Young Xehanort is there the same way Riku and Sora are.

As a result of Master Xehanort tossing his physical body, he was able to exceed time, and this power was carried into the Brown Robed Figure. Thus when Young Xehanort made contact with him, he gained this power. Possessing this power. Young Xehanort functioned as a “portal”, summoning Xemnas and Ansem each time they appeared. That’s why Young Xehanort was there whenever they appeared. Additionally, when Sora and Riku dropped into the worlds of sleep, simultaneously Young Xehanort himself goes into the world of sleep.

I think that was done to keep everything organized. The interview confirms that any of them could transcend time, anyway.
