in the 1st kingdom hearts, riku was orignally a keyblade master, until his heart faded in2 darkness and sora became the keyblade master. so how does riku have the way to dawn?

after riku conquered the darkness in him he was able to wield his own keyblade

Soul Eater transformed into Way to Dawn after Riku fully redeemed himself. He still had Soul Eater up until Land of Dragons, so it transformed sometime after that. Nomura said there's no particular reason for it.

The Way To Dawn is also a Keyblade. Riku is able to wield this through the power of Darkness [Xehanort's Heartless].
